Chapter 15
BRANDON'S POV
As I stood before Lycan Leo, the thought of being his beta filled me with excitement and anticipation. It was an honor to serve under him, and I knew that this position could potentially be the greatest gift I would ever receive. But as much as I was thrilled, there was a part of me that was also apprehensive.
Being the beta to Lycan Leo was a great honor, and having the same sisters as Luna was another blessing. While this was a great job, I couldn't help but worry about the potential conflicts between them. Would they continue fighting and bring their animosity into their roles as mothers to their children?
I couldn't bear the thought of that happening. But for now, I tried to push those worries to the back of my mind and focus on the present.
As I watched Angel, the pack doctor, exit with Lycan Leo, I couldn't help but feel a strong disdain for her. In my eyes, she was nothing more than an imposter. She claimed to know what was best for the pack, but I knew that the moon goddess had already made her choice. No one could be wiser than her.
I couldn't understand why I felt such a strong hatred towards Angel. Perhaps it was the way she carried herself, or maybe it was her lack of competence in the role she was playing. Whatever it was, I knew that I couldn't stand her.
But as much as I disliked Angel, I couldn't help but pity her. It was clear to me that she wasn't the type of Luna that our pack needed. Her clothing was inappropriate, and it gave off the impression that she was a sex worker. I wondered if she had bribed the pack elders to secure her position, but deep down, I knew that it wouldn't work.
As I was lost in my thoughts, Lycan Leo called my name. I snapped out of my reverie and responded to him, approaching him with a sense of reverence.
He must have noticed the way I was looking at Angel before she left. I tried to cover it up by telling him that my mind had been carried away by something else, but I knew that he could see right through me.
As soon as Lycan Leo told me that we were going somewhere special, I knew that it wasn't going to be an ordinary place. I could sense the excitement in his voice, and the anticipation in his eyes was enough to let me know that this was going to be an adventure that I wouldn't forget anytime soon.
He instructed me to get ready and disappeared inside. While I was busy preparing myself, Juliet appeared out of nowhere. She looked at me with pleading eyes and said, "Brandon, we need to talk about something very important."
I was taken aback by her sudden appearance, and although I knew that she and her sister were my friends, I couldn't help but feel anxious about what she wanted to discuss with me. However, I had made a commitment to Lycan Leo, and I didn't want to keep him waiting.
"I'm sorry, Juliet, but I'm going out with Lycan Leo right now. "We can talk about it when I get back," I told her, trying to sound as diplomatic as possible.
I could see that she was disappointed with my response, but I didn't have the time to dwell on it. I rushed to get ready, eager to see what kind of adventure Lycan Leo had planned for us.
As I was putting on my shoes, a thought occurred to me. What if I could finish getting ready before Lycan Leo emerged and have a quick conversation with Juliet? I knew that it was risky, but my curiosity was getting the best of me.
I quickly finished getting ready and made my way towards Juliet's location. As soon as I found her, she started talking before I could even say a word.
"Brandon, I know that you're going out with Lycan Leo, but I need you to listen to me." "I've been having these strange dreams, and I think that they might be connected to what's happening to us," she said, her eyes filled with concern.
I was intrigued by what she was saying. What kind of dreams could she possibly be having that were connected to our situation? My mind was racing with possibilities, and I knew that I had to listen to her.
We talked for a few minutes before I had to rush back to meet Lycan Leo. But my mind was buzzing with questions and theories. What if Juliet was right? What if her dreams held the key to unlocking the mystery behind our situation?
As I followed Lycan Leo towards our destination, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of adventure awaited us. And more importantly, would Juliet's dreams play a crucial role in our journey?
As I walked through the forest, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. We were heading to the neighboring pack, and it was none other than Gigi's pack. It wasn't just any ordinary visit. Our intentions were murky, and it was uncertain what the outcome would be.
"What is he doing here?" I muttered under my breath, looking over at the imposing figure next to me. The pack might attack us, and it's going to be brutal since we don't have enough warriors. I knew that this was a dangerous mission, and we were putting ourselves in harm's way.
Suddenly, I called out to him. "Master," I said, my voice shaking with fear. He turned to look at me, his face stern and unwavering. "What is wrong?" he asked.
"We are going to Gigi's pack." "I think this is not the right time because they might attack, and we don't have enough warriors with us," I replied hesitantly.
He paused for a moment before responding. "I am not going to fight." I am just going to make inquiries about Gigi. "What made her be found inside the forest?" He said, his eyes filled with determination.
"Gigi might be cursed and thrown into the forest, and I won't allow her to bring the curse to my pack," he added, his voice firm and unwavering.
But I knew that Gigi wasn't cursed. She had already confided in me and Lycan Leo's sisters about how she landed in the forest. It was not her fault but rather her wicked aunt's doing. I wondered if he was aware of the truth.
Before we could move any further, we were stopped by the warriors from Gigi's pack. They saw us as an opportunity to attack because we were not with warriors—only me and Lycan Leo. It was a chaotic scene, and we were caught off guard.
We had no choice but to fight. It wasn't what we had planned for, but that was what being a warrior meant—expecting the unexpected. Blood spilled on the ground, and the sound of clashing swords echoed through the forest. I could feel my strength waning as I fought off one warrior after another.
I saw Lycan Leo, his face contorted with rage, fighting off two warriors at once. His clothes had been torn, and he was bleeding from a wound on his arm. But he didn't back down.
We managed to kill some of their warriors, but it came at a cost. I was already injured, and my body was weak. I could feel the blood dripping down my arm, and my legs were trembling. We had no choice but to retreat.
But Lycan Leo was not going to let them have the last laugh. "We are going back to deal with them because they can't just feel that they have won," he said, his voice filled with fury.
I knew that going back would be risky, but I also knew that Lycan Leo wasn't going to let this slide. He was a man of honor, and he wouldn't let anyone disrespect him or his pack.
As we made our way back to the pack, I could feel the adrenaline coursing through my veins.
The weight of uncertainty hung heavily on my shoulders as I contemplated the meaning of Juliet's dream. I couldn't shake the feeling that Juliet's ominous words were somehow connected to the current situation. Was this just the beginning of a series of unfortunate events?
Despite my apprehension, my primary concern was getting to the hospital for treatment. I couldn't let my fear get in the way of my survival. But the thought of that wicked angel touching me with her cursed hands made my skin crawl.
As we hurried towards the pack, my attention was drawn to Lycan Leo, who was bleeding profusely. I tried to engage him in conversation, but he remained silent with his eyes closed. Panic began to set in as the gravity of the situation became all too clear.
The stakes were high, and time was running out. As I frantically searched for a solution, I couldn't help but wonder if this was the beginning of the end.
