Chapter 115

DAMON

When I had driven far enough away from the blackwood pack, I stopped the car to breathe.

I needed a break, a lot had happened and now I knew I was ready. I was done waiting for her to realize that she was only mine.

That she couldn't just leave me and I'd let her be. I couldn't wait any longer, the fire that had been burning for her only strengthened further.

I needed her back, and I would get her back by all means, I decided there as I sat in the car.

I would go to war for her. Bradley had been ignorant of my pleasant request, but maybe he would listen when the war began.

My phone rang just as I was about to drive off. I looked at the caller ID, Uncle.

I was tempted to ignore him, but I couldn't. Not yet when I needed his help for much more now.

I picked up the call and listened.

He released a sigh as soon as I picked up, “What did you do?" He asked.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What did he mean? There was no way he knew what I had just done.

“What do you mean?" I asked.

“Someone has gained access to one of the Rated files," he said.

My body froze at the words. The rated files were the most important. Almost everything about what we had been doing was in it.

“How?" I exclaimed in shock.

“I just asked you that question. Did you send that email to anyone?" He asked.

Of course, I hadn't; my secrets were in it as well. “Why would I do that?"

I had begun to get angry now.

He made a sound before replying, "I don't know but I don't see how else”

"Do we know what particular file?” I asked then. That would narrow it down.

“No, we set the same alarms for each of them, so we don't know. This is a fucking mess, if that information gets out, we're doomed" he groaned. The anger that I knew him for beginning to show.

My hands tugged at my hair that had been nearly arranged previously.

Whoever had gained access to those files would know almost everything there was to know about me, and if it was mine? I would be doomed.

I could only hope it wasn't and what were the chances anyway? Mine had been stored after being deleted from my PC, the only way to find it would be hacking into my storage, which would have sent a notification.

It couldn't possibly be mine. I had kept it too securely for it to be.

“Make sure it's not yours, then get back to me." He was about to end the call but I stopped him.

“How fast are the plans going?" I asked.

There was silence on the other end for a while before he replied, “As fast as it can be. There's been a success so it's only forward from here on"

“I'm losing my patience uncle. I will have to attack soon. She's slipping out my hands" I said, gritting my teeth.

"It begins only when I give a go ahead” he said.

He sounded authoritative and the tone tore at me. I had been obedient for far too long, he now thought I was his lap dog.

"If it's not ready when I need it to be, I'll have no other choice but to do what I must” I told him angrily and before he could respond, I ended it.

I didn't want to get into an exchange of words. Uncle and I hardly had any disagreements, we had only once, that time many years ago.

And it was as minor as it could get. But I was tired now of waiting for his instructions, they had caused the delay of getting my mate back.

They had stopped me from moving forward in my plans. I had done everything he asked just as he wanted me to, it was time he did what I asked.

Because now, I would do anything to get Diana back and I didn't care what it took.

My resolve hardened as I started the car and drove off. No calls or messages came in.

I knew he wouldn't contact me for a long time after this, that was his way of trying to show he could do without me, let's see for how long.

I parked in the hotel's parking lot before getting down. I didn't want to go back home where Celeste would be. I wasn't prepared for her nagging and the constant reminder that Diana wasn't coming back to me.

I walked into my room, dropping my things and heading to the tablet perched on the table.

I needed to strategize, with or without my uncle. War was drawn, it had been decided and there was nothing I could do about it. I would only have to be prepared now.

I brought out the list of the number of soldiers each pack under me had and calculated them all together.

Then I compared it to Bradley's, there was still a reasonable gap in it.

He could defeat me especially if I went without uncle's support. I needed a back up plan.

I leaned back on the chair to think. What could I use as my trump card, who could be my victory card.

Loras.

It hit me then. He was hot headed and if he saw enough reason for war, he wouldn't hesitate to join in and make his place.

If I found a way to convince him to join my cause, he would. Or maybe he wouldn't. One thing that superseded his hot headedness was his strong hate.

If he didn't like you, he didn't play in your business especially if it didn't benefit him.

I knew clearly that he didn't like me. His mom had been the one to secure the deal with me along with the marriage or else it would never have happened.

I wondered if he would listen, help me if I asked and I doubted so. I had to give him a reason, a strong reason to do so or else it wouldn't work.

If I found something I could threaten him with or if he lost something valuable to him and his anger surpassed his dislike for me, then he would fight for me.

I picked up my phone and set Xander on the task.

‘Find out anything about Loras Whitemore, as much as you can. His secrets and canned worms’ I sent.

He replied, ‘Yes alpha. You have a meeting with him in two days’

I hadn't forgotten that, ‘So you have two days to find out as much as you can' I told him, the conversation ended there.

I was too tired to do much more. The demons had been persistent all day, I wanted, no I needed to shut them out and sleep was the most effective way.

I turned my tablet off and my phone as well before going to bed.

I woke up with a start, I had heard voices outside my door, movement.

I stood up slowly to listen. Slowly the movement moved further away, it must have been hotel workers.

No one knew I was here, right underneath his nose.

I went to my tablet to see what I could find on Loras. Outside it was morning, I would need to go back home soon. I had business still to deal with and I needed them now especially with war approaching.

As my screen lit up I saw the email notification. I wondered who it could be, had uncle sent a text? No one else had this address so it had to be him.

I opened it, I wanted to see what he would say.

The text and image attached to it made me freeze. It was from Bradley.

“I know exactly what you are doing, every detail of it. You don't want anyone else to know"

The image was a picture of the names of all of us involved in this. My pack was the second, not too much of a shock. I had spent most of the pack's funds there anyway.

It was him, he had been the one who had found the files and opened them.

But how?

The email was short. He only made it known what he knew, not what he would take for this information to stay within us.

Fucking hell, this was such a jumble. My anger rose until I couldn't control it anymore. My hand swatted for the lamp on the table beside me and I swept it away to the floor.

It shattered into pieces with the piercing sound along with it. My anger still didn't reduce, I took the landline beside the bed and flung it to the floor.

It was now I could feel it drop slightly, just enough for me to think about what I would do next.

I didn't have much time left to think, he could do anything anytime. If I left him long enough, the information could be exposed and my pack would be banished.

I couldn't be a rogue. I needed to stop him.

I picked up my phone and dialed his number immediately. Him first and then uncle.

It rang for a long time before he picked, he had done it purposely. I could feel it and it caused my anger to rise even more, almost blinding me with rage.

“Don't you dare tell anyone about this" I told him in a threatening voice.

A harsh laughter rang from his end, “Are you making orders Damon?" He asked, smug and mocking.

My fists clenched around my phone as I listened to his laugh.

“I'll come for you if

any of it gets out" I warned him, I dropped my voice now so he could get the message.

“From now on, you do what I say, not what you want to" the call ended.
