Chapter 57: Second Day Of Trials - Part 3

Legolas, Erin, and Drelduin walked back to the stage to join Athos and Louis. “Well done to those of you who passed today’s assessment. Those who did not pass today, thank you for your time. Remember the advice given to you by the trainers, work on the things pointed out to you, and next year, we will welcome you back to trials again, the same candidates who did not make it yesterday.” Athos spoke clearly and with feeling, knowing that today was not easy for them. “Everyone else, tomorrow is the last day of trials. There will be parts to tomorrow’s session. First session, tomorrow will be testing your endurance and any fighting skills that you possess. Should you pass the first session, you will be divided into groups, and your instructions will be given to you then.”

Everyone walked out except for Michelle and her small group of friends. Legolas walked over to them, looking deep in thought. “Your Highness, how did you see the creature while under a spell by Erin? That spell was only meant to create an illusion, not show a creature that was truly lurking around.” He looked at her, trying to see if he could see anything that might indicate an incantation or curse. She answered him with a question of her own. “What exactly do you know about me, if I may ask?” He took a few seconds before answering her. “Well, I can see that you were given your grace, but I also see that you are more powerful than even Gabriel, and even Lucifer.” At the mention of the last name, Gabriel walked in through the doors of the hall. “Legolas, my old friend. How are you?”

Legolas turned, bowed in respect at the Arc Angel who just walked in. “Gabriel, I am well, thank you. I trust that Heaven is still treating you well, my old friend.” They shook hands, and he turned to Michelle. “This young hybrid is very talented and very powerful, Gabriel. I could sense her grace miles away. The Leviathan is looking for her. She saw it, while under a spell during trials today, without me or Erin sensing that it was here. She revealed her angel side to all the candidates, in an effort to show dominance over it, and not allow it to creep into her mind.” Gabriel looked at Michelle, who was fiddling with her hands. He opened his arms, and she ran right into him, hugging him tight. “Uncle Gabriel, if I did anything wrong, I am sorry. I just felt like I needed to protect everyone here. Drake wouldn’t let me shift to Silver, so I had to do something.” She spoke so fast that Gabriel just rubbed her back. “It’s ok. You did well. You proved that it does not have dominion over you, but you over it. No angel that I have ever trained in my entire existence, including Michael, who trained your mom, would have been able to do that. Not even I would have been able to do that.”

She looked up at him, “Who is Lucifer?” He let go of her and sighed. “He is my and Michael’s older brother. He betrayed God and was cast out of Heaven. He has been locked up in Hell ever since then. Not even could do what you have done today, and he was the most powerful anger to ever exist.” She just stared at him, not sure what to say. He turned to Legolas and Athos, who were standing nearby with the other trainers. “Where are you planning your second session of the trials tomorrow?” “In an area cordoned off for us in the woods,” Athos answered, while looking at the forest through the glass doors at the back of the hall. “Good, I will send Luke to come and help you tomorrow. I assume it will at night?” Athos nodded, and Gabriel gave Michelle and Drake one last hug before returning to Heaven again.

Athos looked at the 10 friends, “If you all make it through the 1st session tomorrow, which we all here know you all will, you have better prepared for the second session. Seeing as Luke will be joining us, it will be safer for you, Michelle, but it doesn’t mean that it will be easy.” He dismissed them, and they grabbed their bags from the changing rooms, deciding to head out to the restaurant to grab something to eat for dinner.

As they sat down in their usual place, pulling an extra table closer for more space, Neil spoke up. “This was not the second time that I have seen angels, and to know that I am actually friends with one.” They all laughed and ordered their drinks and food from the waitress, who could clearly not take her eyes off Drake. Ember felt heat rise in her chest, but kept calm as the waitress walked away. Drake looked at her, lowered his head to whisper in her ear. “I felt that little one. Remember, we are mates, I feel what you feel, just like you feel what I feel.” She looked at him and blushed. “Sorry, I have never been jealous of anyone.” He lifted her hand and kissed her knuckles, “It’s ok, it is normal. I like that part of you.”

When the waitress came back with their drinks, she made sure to touch Drake’s hand when she put his drink down. He pulled his hand away fast, almost like she burned him. She stared at him as if being slapped. Ember looked at her, her Dragon pushing forward. “Touch what is mine again, and I will burn you.” The waitress looked at her with wide eyes before walking off to serve another table. “Who knew you could be such a boss lady?” Michelle joked, and all 3 girls burst out laughing. Their dinner order was brought to them by a different waiter. They all talked animatedly while eating. After dinner, the guys walked the girls back to their dorm. As they walked up to the main doors, a young girl with long brown hair and bright blue eyes was standing there. She stopped dead in her tracks and just looked at the group in front of her.

Mathias sniffed the air, pushing forward through the group of friends, and walked right up to the girl. His wolf howled inside his mind, showing him mental pictures of a wagging tail. He really was like a happy puppy at that moment. Most sweetly, he took her hand, kissed her knuckles, and uttered in a deep voice, “MATE.” She blushed and, with her other hand, clutched a necklace with what looked like a beautiful seashell. “Hi, my name is Merymere.” Michelle recognized her from her one class. “I am Mathias. The voice you heard just now is my wolf, Titan.” Merymere looked at him, and still clutching her necklace, smiled, “You're friends with the girls. I am in one of their classes. I am a siren. I was looking for Michelle when I saw you walking towards me, and I felt this pull to you, like I was meant to meet you.”
