Chapter 47: What Nightmares Are Made Of

Michelle’s POV.

I don’t understand what is going on with Silver. Since we got to the academy, she has been feeling so uneasy, like she just has to run. Is it because we met our mate today, and he is a vampire? Or is it something else? Michelle was deep in thought, and before she could even realize what was happening, Silver took over and shifted mid-run, without stopping to wait for the boys.

“Silver, what are you doing? You know we need to wait for the boys.” Michelle tried to calm her Lycan down, but the big, silver, yes, she was silver, Lycan with her beautiful, bright blue and silver eyes, just couldn’t care less. She just had to run. Something in her body was burning, and it was something new.

The boys finally caught up to Silver by the lake near the academy, where she stopped to look at the moon. “Silver, what the hell. Why did you take off like that? You know we can’t just shift like you do; we will shred our clothes.” Fenrir asked through their link, somewhat annoyed. Anubis and Hildwulf just huffed in annoyance.

Silver turned to them with a look of worry in her eyes. “I am sorry, there is something here that just really makes my hair stand on end. I don’t know what it is, but it feels bad, seriously bad.” The boys all shifted back to their human form, but Silver wouldn’t. She was the oldest and the biggest of them all in wolf form. She shook her fur and bent down for the boys to climb on her back, and ran back to the dorm.

After the boys got dressed, Silver transformed back to her human form. Michelle looked at the boys, and they still couldn’t understand how she could shift and not tear her clothes apart. “What? Why are you guys looking so annoyed?” “Because it’s still unfair that you can shift and your clothes are still intact. So not fair.” Remus complained but still smiled at her.

“Come on, we should get back before curfew,” Lumus started walking towards the building as the others followed. When they reached Michelle and Stella’s room, Darius opened the door and pulled Michelle into a tight hug, inhaling slowly. “Are you ok, my lady?” Michelle pushed him away slightly, blushing, “Yeah, imm I'm ok. And my lady?” He looked at her, gave a sheepish smile, and said that he would explain the phrase to her when they got to know each other better. They all said good night, and the boys went back to their dorm room.

Stella woke up with the feeling that Michelle was not doing too well, and as she walked into the room, she could see that Michelle had broken out into a sweat. “Michelle, Sweety, wake up, come on, please wake up.” She shook her shoulders and checked on her watch to see that it was 06h00. She could feel something major was off, so she did the one thing she was told not to do, without permission, use magic at the academy.

She closed her eyes, rubbed her hands together, and placed them over Michelle’s head, softly whispering a chant. After a few minutes, the sweat on Michelle’s forehead dried up, and her breathing slowed down to a normal rate. As she opened her eyes, Stella pulled her into a hug, “Are you ok? Please tell me that you are, ok?” She pulled back, looked her in the eyes, and sighed with relief when she saw Michelle smile at her. “I am ok, thank you, whatever you did, thank you. I heard you talking in my nightmare.”

Stella shot up from the bed. Wait, a nightmare, you had a nightmare that gripped you that badly? Michelle, I don’t think that was a nightmare.” Just then, Michelle’s phone rang. It was Drake, “Michelle, where are you? What happened? I couldn’t feel your link?” She just sat up in bed, confused, “I am in bed, I just had a nightmare. Stella helped me wake up from it. Hold on, what do you mean, you couldn’t feel my link?”

“It is like you died, and the link snapped. Just not as painful. Are you sure it was just a dream?” Drake sounded exhausted, like he had run 20 20-mile race. “What else could it be, Drake?” Michelle was starting to feel that same feeling of unease from the previous day. “We will talk after classes today, ok. Go take a shower and get your butt to class.” With that, she cut the call, and she and Stella headed to class after an hour. They had most of their classes together, except Stella had a healing class while Michelle had warrior training, with not only her brother and cousins, but also her mate and their human friend.
