Chapter 35: Confronting Jordan

Hazel's POV

One month flew by so fast that I didn't even notice it.

Perhaps it was because for all those days of that month, I sat down and thought about all the ways that I could approach Alpha Jordan.

Or, perhaps for all those days in that month, I was trying to process the truth that I had been told.

I had been living a lie for nearly my entire life, but it's not like I blamed everyone.

They were lying to me to protect me.

They knew that if I had known sooner, I wouldn't have sat down. I would have dug and clawed at every crevice to the bone trying to find solutions.

And that's exactly what I was thinking.

After I was done with talking to Jordan, I was determined that perhaps he and I could set out to find a solution to the witches and the curse that was on him.

I had talked to Lucas and told him that I knew everything. At first, he pretended like he didn't know what I was talking about, but when I told him things that only mom and dad told me, he accepted that I truly knew the truth.

His first question was, "So, what are you going to do?"

I told him that I wasn't sure yet, and that I was still strategizing.

When he offered to help me,I refused and told him that he had a wife and unborn child to look after.

That was my problem and I was going to fix it.

With that, I was back to thinking on how I was going to handle everything.

Talking to Amanda, I tried to test her to see if she knew anything. But it was clear that she was also in the dark.

It was expected. Jordan wouldn't have told his sister anything, because he knew she wouldn't be able to keep such a secret away from me.

On top of that, it made sense for Amanda not to know what was happening. Because if she knew, her hate towards how her brother treated me all through wasn't going to be genuine enough for me to buy it.

Even if she wasn't going to spill the beans to me, she would've probably not sold her hate well enough.

With her in the dark, whenever I told her that Jordan had done something, she flared up so much you'd think she wanted to kill him herself.

And once I had talked to my parents, I convinced them that I had to let Amanda in the know so that she could also understand the actions that I was going to take next.

I mean, it wouldn't make sense in a billion years for me to be anywhere near Alpha Jordan, after he had ruined the proposal from Logan.

However, I ensured that both Lucas and Amanda kept it to themselves and not tell Jordan that I knew the truth, until I was ready to be the one to talk to him.

And that didn't take long.

With five months remaining, I needed to act fast.

So, just a few days after I had told Amanda about the secret that was kept from me, I decided that it was finally the day.

I woke up, got ready and went downstairs.

After my breakfast, I said to my parents before leaving, "I'm going to talk to Alpha Jordan."

They didn't object and neither did they say anything. There was a brief moment of silence as mom and dad looked at each other.

And then, they nodded in approval.

I left the house, and met Amanda who was waiting for me outside.

With her, it was easier to get inside the pack house compound, unlike using a taxi that would have me walk to the gates of the pack house, and state my reason for being there.

So, in a couple of minutes we were driving to the front of the pack house, and both alighted.

As Amanda handed her keys to one of the guards to take her car to parking, she asked me, "Are you sure you don't want me in there with you?"

"I'm sure. This needs to be done between me and Jordan, alone." I answered her confidently as she nodded in approval and we walked through the doors of the pack house.

There were a couple of maids that were moving up and down, but the moment they saw me, they all stopped.

You'd think that I had done something, but my presence there was enough to do that.

"Why is she here?"

"Didn't she reject Alpha Logan's proposal?"

"I hear she turned down both Logan and Alpha Jordan."

"No way! I hear that she rejected Logan's proposal and was turned down by Alpha Jordan."

"What a pity."

All these were the remarks that I was able to overhear, and trust me when I say that a lot was said.

'So, word spreads like wildfire.' I said to myself as I spotted someone approaching us from the corner of my eye.

Being those were the only people moving, I turned to look and it was none other than Beta Xavier and Luna Claudia.

Claudia already had a disgusted look on her face, she was just lucky that I wasn't there for her.

However, when they got to where Amanda and I were standing, she just couldn't help herself.

"And what do you think you're doing here?" She asked dismissively like I was some lowlife bottom feeder.

"I want to talk to Alpha Jordan." I said, talking to Xavier and completely ignoring Claudia.

There was nothing that she could say to me that would have me taking her seriously, knowing that she was just a stand-in.

"Uh! You dare ignore me you...."

"...is he expecting you?" Xavier asked as he held out his hand, signaling for her not to start hurling insults.

"I don't need an invitation to see him, so why don't you just tell me where he is." I answered him, getting irritated by just being in Claudia's presence.

Changing his attention to talk to Amanda, Xavier told her, "I'm sure you know that not anyone can just walk in here and demanding to see the Alpha."

"Xavier, it would be wise of you to just tell her where Jordan is. This is not something you want to start here." Amanda responded, taking a step forward and closer to his face.

She meant business, and she was standing on it.

"Who the fuck are you to come here and start making demands?" Claudia asked me, raising her voice

And as expected, she wanted to make a scene as she always did when I was around.

As I felt like Amanda was talking to Xavier using the mind link, I decided that I had had enough of her and it was finally time to put her in her place.

So, with an attitude that I had been trying so hard to hold back and anger that had been surpassed for so long, I turned to her and started going off.

"And is it not clocking to you that I couldn't give a fuck!" Everyone gasped, including her.

It was as if they expected me to always take their abuse and not do anything in retaliation.

"You are a wannabe Luna while the title is too big for a simpleton like you. Bitch! You are the stand in that caught feelings and you made the biggest mistake thinking that I won't go down that path.

Trust me honey, I will."

It wasn't just a statement, it was my way of getting back at her for everything she had said and done against me.

Her face was flushed and she looked like she was about to have a stroke.

That was just the right moment because for some reason, Amanda had convinced Xavier to tell me where Jordan was.

"He's in the study." He said to me, and just stood there, waiting.

I didn't have anything else to say to Claudia, so I immediately started walking towards Jordan's study.

"How can you let her say that to me?" Claudia whined as I walked away.

"Oh shut up and go do whatever you usually do." Amanda scolded her.

I had learnt that Jordan made Claudia his fiancée when he rejected me to make it more believable to everyone else.

However, she was only supposed to be his stand in, and according to my parents, she must've caught feelings for him and that's why she always tried to ensure I was out of the picture for real.

So, she always had it coming.

And it felt so good finally being able to do that to her.

"Are you ready?" Venus asked me as we approached the study.

I wasn't.

How the hell do you even prepare yourself for that?

I was just going in there and I knew that the words would flow.

When I finally got to the door of the study, I stood there for about five minutes, trying to compose myself.

I could even hear movement behind the door that confirmed that Jordan was in there.

Realizing that one could never be fully ready for such a moment, I threw all caution to the wind and grabbed the door by the handle, twisted it and pushed it open.

I took a big step forward as wind blew from behind me into the room.

"I told you Xavier, don't bother me until...." He paused mid-sentence and his nose twitched.

Jordan was seated behind his desk, with his nose deep inside a mountain of paperwork.

However, as the wind blew from behind me, I believe he caught my scent.

His ears perked up, and his head snapped up.

Jordan's eyes locked in on me.

"Hazel!"
