Chapter 181 – The Birth of the White Wolf
I thought the pain I felt earlier was the worst it could ever get.
I was wrong. What came next was something my body wasn’t prepared for.
Another scream tore out of me, louder than before.
It felt like my bones were breaking from the inside out.
“Elara!” I heard Seraphina’s voice beside me.
But it sounded distant like she was far away. Like I was drowning.
My body jerked violently. And then more cracks.
I screamed again. “Please, make it stop!” I begged, tears streaming down my face.
But it didn’t stop. It only got worse.
“Elara, listen to me!” Seraphina’s voice came again, stronger this time. “You’re going to be fine.
I shook my head, crying.
“You’re changing into your wolf for the first time,” a familiar voice said. It's was Edward, he actually came down when he heard my screams and saw my pain. He continued. “I know it’s painful. I know it feels like your body is breaking… but it’s part of it.”
Another crack. I screamed again, clutching my chest as my body arched.
“I don’t want this!” I cried.
“I’m here,” he said. “You’re not alone. Just breathe. Don’t fight it.”
It felt like I was being torn apart. My arms trembled violently. My legs twisted painfully.
Another crack and another. One after the other, my bones were shifting.
I screamed until my throat burned. Until I couldn’t even recognize the sound coming out of me anymore.
Around me, I could hear people gathering. The entire mansion was outside now.
I could feel their eyes on me and hear their whispers.
All I could feel was pain. My white dress started tearing apart as my body stretched unnaturally.
I gasped as something strange crawled across my skin.
Soft and thick hair growing rapidly.
“Don’t be scared,” Seraphina said gently, though I could hear the tension in her voice. “Let it happen.”
“I can’t!” My fingers twisted, my nails extending.
My spine arched painfully. I screamed again. It felt endless.
Like time had stopped just to torture me.
My body was no longer mine. It was becoming something else.
Something bigger, stronger and wild.
And then silence. The pain faded gradually like a storm finally passing.
I collapsed forward, breathing heavily. My chest rising and falling. My heart pounding.
But something felt different. I opened my eyes and the world looked… clearer.
I could hear everything, smell everything, feel everything. But not like before, stronger now.
I slowly lifted my head and then I saw everyone standing there. Staring at me.
Confusion filled me. Why were they looking at me like that?
Why did they look so… shocked?
I tried to speak but no words came out.
Only a low soft growl. I looked down at myself and froze. Fur, pure white covering my entire body.
I tried to move and my body responded differently, heavier and stronger.
I turned slightly and caught my reflection in the glass doors of the mansion.
And what I saw took my breath away.
A massive white wolf. Completely white. Not a single stain. A stainless white wolf.
The air shifted, whispers broke out instantly.
“Oh Goddess”, “That’s impossible…”, “There hasn’t been one in centuries…”, “Is that… real?”
They were looking at me like I wasn’t real. Like I was something out of a story, something ancient, rare and powerful.
Trying to make sense of what I had become.
I slowly lifted my head and looked at Edward.
He was there, sitting in his wheelchair. Staring at me.
His eyes wide, filled with something I had never seen before.
There were tears in his eyes and he didn’t look away. Not even for a second.
All of a sudden, I felt this strong connection toward Edward. A white glowing threadlike light pulled out of my chest and went straight to Edward's chest.
The moonstone in his chest glowed up for everyone to see. This was historical. Not everyday you get to see the moon stone in the Alpha’s chest.
From behind, “ Elara is the Alpha's chosen mate” Kian said it out loud.
This only made it worse. The confusion running over me, my missing brother, Edward's disappointment…
Panic took over. Without thinking I turned and ran.
Faster than I had ever moved before. The wind rushed past me. The ground blurred beneath me.
“Elara!” I heard Seraphina call out.
But I didn’t stop. I just ran.
Behind me, I heard movement. More wolves.
Edward had shifted and ran after me. Seraphina, Kian and Titan. They had shifted too.
They were chasing after me.
Miles away In a different city, Damien stepped out of his car. His expression was calm.
He had already dropped Selene off. Now he had business to attend to.
He walked into a quiet, secluded area where another man stood waiting.
An Alpha. The Alpha who ruled the Nightfall pack. Their eyes met and they exchanged greetings briefly.
“What do you want?” the Alpha asked, his voice direct.
Damien smiled slightly. “I want an alliance.”
The Alpha raised an eyebrow. “An alliance?” he repeated.
“Yes,” Damien said. “I want to become the ruling Alpha of Silverpine pack.”
A pause. Then the Alpha gave a mocking laugher.
“You?” he said. “You’re a beta.”
Damien didn’t react.
“You’ll remain a beta until you die,” the Alpha continued. “Alpha is bloodline. It’s inherited. You don’t just become one.”
Damien’s smile didn’t fade. “Things change,” he said calmly. “History changes. And it always starts with one decision.”
The alpha studied him.
“All my life, I’ve served,” Damien added. “But I know I can be better. I can lead better.”
“What are you offering?” the Alpha asked.
Damien’s eyes darkened.
“Gifted betas,” he said. “My pack has the strongest. The rarest. I’ll make sure you never run out of supply.”
The alpha’s expression shifted. Interested now.
“And in return?” he asked.
“I become Alpha.”
The alpha smirked. “I’m guessing you want Edward dead.”
Damien didn’t hesitate. “Yes.”
The word was firm. “But not just Edward,” Damien added. “His cousin too. Jasper.”
The alpha’s brow furrowed slightly. “Jasper?” he repeated.
“Don’t underestimate him,” Damien said seriously. “He’s very smart and dangerous. If Edward dies, Jasper takes over. So he has to go too.”
The alpha exhaled slowly. “That’s a lot,” he said. “I like the idea,” the alpha admitted. “But I’ll think about it.”
Damien nodded. “That’s fine.”
Then the alpha’s phone rang. He answered it quickly. “Yes?”
His expression changed. “I see.” He ended the call and looked at Damien.
His eyes were different now. “You came here offering me gifted betas,” he said as he took a step closer. “When there is a stainless white wolf in existence…”
Damien froze.
“…in Edward’s mansion.”
Damien’s eyes widened. “What?”
The alpha’s lips curled into a small smile. “You didn’t know?” he asked.
Damien’s mind raced. A stainless white wolf? Impossible.
“The deal has changed,” the Alpha said.
Damien’s gaze hardened.
The Alpha leaned in slightly. “You get me that white wolf,” he said. “Bring it to me and I’ll help you kill Edward and Jasper.”
The words hung in the air.
“And you will become the Alpha of your pack.”
