Chapter 76: Rule Number 5
I
No one from the Alphas raised their head to speak. Their tongues were all ashamed, hiding inside their mouths. They just realized how idiots they could be, for forgetting rule number 5 of the Alpha’s Breeder Rule.
Alpha King Dantes’ eyes squinted with displeasure. He turned his head to Beta Manro and eyed him with the same expression.
“Beta Manro, recite in toto the Alpha’s Breeder, Rule number 5,” he ordered which brought a surprise to the Beta who was still mocking the Alphas in his mind.
Scratching his head, Beta Manro nodded and then glanced at the Alphas, who all of a sudden raised their heads and looked at the Beta with a warning in their eyes as if telling Beta Manro not to speak at all.
“Beta Manro, speak now!” the Alpha King roared with the edges of his eyes thinning more.
“Ah, my dear Alphas, the Alpha’s Breeder, Rule Number 5 states that, “The Alpha’s breeder can only gain back her freedom and be relieved from her duties on the following grounds; one, if she will be declared barren by the Kingdom’s physician; two, if her mate came and claim her; three, upon her death, and, four, after five years of successfully finishing her terms as the Alpha’s breeder,” Beta Manro recited. He emphasized and even spoke lauder when stating rule number two.
“There you go Alphas. Now tell me, Alpha Danie, did I violate the Kingdom’s rule when I relieved the past Alphas’ breeder from their duties and most probably the recent one?” Alpha King Dantes asked with a piercing look now darted onto Alpha Danie.
With his face, as pale as the white handkerchief he was holding, Alpha Danie swallowed his saliva and shook his head with an embarrassed and apologetic expression. “Apology, my Alpha King,” was all he could say, after a few seconds of being mute.
“Now, Alphas of different packs, I command you to go home and wait for the next Alpha’s breeder to be chosen. Pray to the Moon Goddess that the next one will not fall under Rule number 5. Let the other Alphas waiting outside of the mini castle know what we have discussed here!” After speaking so with a stern in his voice, Alpha King Dantes turned his back on the Alphas and walked out of the function room. All the Alphas bowed their heads and then looked up with shame on their faces.
Thereafter, all the Alphas’ expressions change while shooting Beta Manro with a dangerous look.
Seeing the displeasure in the eyes of the eleven Alphas in front of him, Beta Manro excused himself and scurried in getting out of the function room.
The Alphas raised in unison their middle fingers toward the loyal Beta of the Alpha King, which made Beta Manro almost run just to get out quickly from the sight of the enraged Alphas.
“Whew, better to be called a coward just for today than be butchered by those mad Alphas,” Beta Manro thought after spewing some air from his lungs as he reached his room in the palace.
II
Just as he laid his back on his bed to relax for a few minutes before going out and continuing his duties, Beta Manro heard the Alpha King’s voice ringing in his head.
“Beta Manro, where are you? Come to my office now.” That was the message of the Alpha King, making him get up so quickly from his bed.
“My Alpha King, I am going there now,” he immediately mind linked back to the Alpha King upon climbing down from his bed. He then hurriedly walked toward the latter’s office with anticipation in his mind. "What did he want now? Oh, goodness, I have not sent yet a message to the head of the mini castle's guards that the matter has been settled already and that they need to disperse the remaining Alphas and their warriors in front of the mini castle!" he thought, cursing himself for being such a careless ogre-like-wolf once more.
After knocking thrice on the half-opened door of the Alpha King’s office, Beta Manro got inside and bowed his head, before taking the seat, the Alpha King motioned for him to occupy.
“Beta Manro, prepare to search for a new Alpha’s breeder. Soonest, the Gamma will wed the recent one,” Alpha King Dantes said after Beta Manro took his seat in front of his executive desk.
“Yes, Alpha King Dantes. By the way, I would like to commend how wise you were in dealing with those Alphas out there. Truthfully, I was not able to think about that rule myself as I focused more on the fact that indeed consecutively, three Alphas breeders had been freed without performing their duties yet. But, my Alpha King, the Alphas were correct in some ways. It was as if we hide the Alpha’s breeder from them at the onset, especially during the time of the Luna Queen. They were not able to even see Luna Queen Andreitte, not until your wedding,” Beta Manro said with a sheepish and awkward smile.
“I know. But my Luna Queen’s situation at that time was different. At the onset, I already knew, she was my mate. Don’t you think, I would dare any of those Alphas to ever touch her? Goddamit, I will kill them first before they could touch her! Now, go and heed my order. Don’t you dare mention again what happened during the time of my Luna Queen as Alphas breeder, otherwise, I will cut your tongue for you not to even say a thing to your future mate!” the Alpha King said almost growling at his Beta, who readily scampered out of his office.
“Goddamit, what kind of life do I have today? My tongue always put me in trouble, argghh,” the loyal Beta thought while reprimanding himself and promising to use his tongue in good ways, next time. “Tongue, your main purpose is to please a woman in different ways and not to be the reason to take away my life, goddammit!” he added, sneering, and without looking back went to the car parking area and drove his car to the mini castle.
