Chapter 37: Thirty seven

Laura's POV.

I was nervous as fuck immediately he left, and I was so lonely, Monica was the only keeping company, I missed them so much and it has just been hours since they left, it felt like they left for a whole week.

"Laura." I turned to Monica with a smile.

"Yes, is there any update about the war?" I asked.

I was so interested in the war and the outcome that I couldn't even steady myself. My nerves were so high, I felt like any bad news would make me faint.

"You're too focused on it, and you've asked this for a long time now." Monica said and I sighed.

"Well what can I do?" I asked.

"I can't help but worry, it's really making me nervous." I sighed.

"I understand, but the alpha is an amazing warrior, and he'll be back soon." She said,

"I'm more worried about Dean, this is his first time fighting in the real war, his uncle has been training him for a long time." Monica said and I sighed, I was worried for Dean too, even Karl.

"You like Dean don't you?" I asked.

"Well, I guess I do, but he doesn't see me that way." She said,

"I'm not sure, I'm sure he does." I said, I saw the way Dean looked at her.

"Well, I'm his senior by two years and it feels wrong." She said,

"Age is just a number." I said and she smiled.

"Well, I can't say yet, what if he finds his mate, and it's not me?" Monica asked.

"I think it'll be you, maybe on the full moon you'll know that, or whenever it happens, I'm your biggest shipper, know that." I said and she laughed.

"Don't worry about them too much, they'll be back soon." Monica said and I nodded.

"I'll go back to my room now." Monica said and I nodded, I felt lonely but I didn't really care anymore, I wanted them to come back immediately.

"Are you that Laura girl?" I turned to the person and I saw an old man walking close to me.

"Yes, good evening." I bowed.

"What's so good about the evening?" He asked and I stepped back, his tone was so loud, I could hear others gathering around us. I suddenly regret sitting out here. If I had gone to the room, this wouldn't have happened.

"I'm sorry, why are you attacking me, all I did was greet you." I said and he scoffed.

"You're not a good reason and a good addition." He said and I frowned wondering what he was on about.

"If you are, we won't need to stress ourselves or go to war." He said and I kept racking my brain, thinking of what he wanted to say.

I didn't get him at all, he wasn't direct with whatever he had to say, and he was confusing the fuck out of me.

"I'm sorry, but I don't get you." I said and he walked closer to me, if he wanted to make me scared,it was working. I wondered what I did to have him corner me this way, but I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction that I was scared of what he was doing.

I stared at him as he stared at me, I raised my brows waiting for what he was going to say.

"You think it's about faking your bravado?" He asked and I looked him up and down. I'm sure my heart was beating fast and that's why he could know I was pretending to be tough.

"I'm not faking any bravado, you're the one trying to be tough but I guess you need to take lessons." I replied and he glared hard at me.

"You're so insolent, didn't they teach you from your other pack that you should be respectful to the elders?" He asked and I stepped back, gripping my hands tight.

I knew the elders made most of the packs and packs worked with their advice,but I didn't like the way he talked to me like I did anything wrong.

"I'm sure you're old enough to know that you don't demand respect, you earn it." I shot back and he glared at me gripping his walking stick tightly.

"You're the reason they are going for this war.", He spat.

"The alpha may deny it, but it's true, I don't care if you're his mate, but you're a rogue, and since you came we've been having all these problems." He added and I frowned wondering what he was on about.

"So you don't even know about it." He said when he saw my expression.

"I'm sure he keeps it from you, he has suddenly turned into a pussy, all because of a mate, he has never been like that." He said.

"He wants to keep protecting you." He added.

"I don't know what you're talking about, but don't blame me for things I have no idea about." I said.

"As an elder, you're supposed to promote peace and not war, and you want to divide others, I'm not sure you know what being an elder means." I said and he glared hard at me.

"He left my daughter for a stupid and daft one like you." He said and I frowned, I didn't even know which daughter he was talking about,I didn't know this man's name, or his family, I was still new here.

"And you had the guts to embarrass my daughter." He added and I sighed.

I suddenly remembered my argument and who I argued with. I now realized that he was the father of the annoying blonde who insulted me. I sighed laughing.

"So she's your daughter?" I asked.

"Yes she is." He said.

"I can see the resemblance, you are just like her or should I say she got it from you." I said and he came closer to me dropping his staff, I hit the wall as I tried stepping back.

"What are you doing to my mate Elder Janos?" I turned and saw Darren glare hard at Elder Janos.
