Chapter 29: Twenty nine

Laura's POV.

I quivered when I heard the explosion, my heart was beating quickly and my breathing became frantic at some point, I looked around wondering where the explosion came from.

For some weird reason, there was an energy here I couldn't quite understand, it weirded me out and I felt like the energy wasn't normal or like werewolf energy when I sensed it.

One of the masked men that was about hitting me walked out of the room to check what was going on, this made me realize they weren't aware of the explosion and it wasn't from them, I used that time to pray to the moon goddess quickly, hoping she'll send assistance, and I hoped Darren knew that I was missing.

I'm sure he must think that I'm still upset and not look for me once he realized I was missing, or he may not even look for me and he would go with her, my head divided into two, and the thoughts I had kept making me feel apprehensive, I somehow had faith in him that he will call, I cranked my neck to see where the mark he left on me was, I hoped it didn't fade quickly, I remember hearing that mates can reach out to each other through their link, even if they haven't mated completely yet, if there's anything linking them, they would reach for each other when they wanted.

I saw the mark, it was little and faint, it made me have hope that I could reach out to him.

I hoped it worked immediately, I wanted him to come take me out of here, I didn't like the energy here in any way, it freaked me out, it made me feel like there was someone watching.

My wolf felt uneasy as well, it kept pacing around and it made me feel restless too.

I tried calling out to him, but somehow I felt like it wasn't working.

"Darren." I called out in my mind, hoping it would reach him wherever he was, yet somehow I felt like the message didn't pass to him.

I was suddenly reminded of the weird energy I'm feeling from this room, it felt like it was preventing me from calling out to him.

"Darren, please help me, if you can hear me, please help." I called out in my mind again, I felt a sharp pain hit me and my head started aching, it felt like something blocked me from reaching out to him, I couldn't reach out again, I felt weak that I couldn't say a word, I sighed in frustration, my wolf kept pacing around.

One of the masked men who went out came back.

"What happened?" The one who stayed in the room with me asked.

"There was an explosion, I think it was the men playing, they brought out the firecrackers to play with it." He said laughing.

My heart diminished, the hope that it was Darren who made something explode flew out, I was now apprehensive than I was earlier, I hoped it was him, but it wasn't from what this masked man said, I lost all hope I had, but he somehow felt a little glimmer of hope that he was going to come and it would be soon, this somehow cheered me up, though my heart was beating fast because of how weird I felt here and the fear I felt from the way they masked men were staring at me, they unnerved me, and their leering gazes made me feel worse, I looked out at the window and all I saw was other masked men playing around with firecrackers, it kept blasting making me jump every time.

"Look at her quiver everytime it explodes." The man at right said, I looked down, I was feeling dejected already, I didn't want their attention on me, but it seemed that wasn't possible.

"She's a scaredy cat." The second one said and I kept looking down, I didn't want to see them.

"I can see that." The first one replied.

"It's kinda cute seeing her this way." The second one said,

"You know she looks really Pretty." The second one said and my heart thumped violently.

"Yes, I can see that, that's why he wants her here." The first one replied.

"Why don't we have a taste of her before he comes?" The second one asked.

"What if he is upset?" The first one asked and I hoped the second listened, I didn't like where this conversation was going, it creeped me out, I refused to carry my head up, I knew what I'll find when I stared at them, they may wear masks but the expression they held behind that mask would definitely be leering, and I wasn't ready to face them while they had those thoughts in their mind.

"How would he know, we can have our fun before he comes back." The second one urged.

"I don't know about this, she's fun to look at, but I don't want any problems with the boss." The second argued.

"He won't be here any time soon, and he kept something in the room that will stop her from being tracked." The second one added and I gasped realizing what the weird energy I felt was, I now understood while reaching out was difficult for me whatever they placed here didn't let me reach out, and it probably didn't let Darren reach out as well.

"He really did huh?" The first one asked, his voice softening, I felt like he would accept the suggestion soon.

"Yes, he doesn't want her found." The second one said,

"That's good then." The first one replied and my heart thumped.

They walked closer and I shook my head, "please don't come close to me." I said, stepping back.

"I like your pleading, it makes this more enjoyable." The second one said,

I suddenly heard a loud explosion and screams, then I saw Darren teleport only to the room, he hit the two masked men and they fell to the floor immediately, I saw blood trailing on the floor and the feral expression he had.
