Chapter 56: Zegan

(Author’s Point of View.)

Amelia just stared at her in confusion. For a certain, she knew she hadn’t done anything of a such other than almost killing everyone.

“Do not worry your pretty head, little one,” Artemis said softly. However, the beautiful smile she had just a fleeting moment ago, was no longer there.

“You must leave now child. Whatever you must do, make sure his mark on you is in its full form before the distinct moon rises in the sky. And remember, what you once knew, isn’t what you shall return to,” Artemis spoke as she waved her glowing hands over Amelia’s chest.

“Wait! What about Alyx?” Amelia voiced as she faded away.

“Do not worry about her child, she is where she should be!” That was the last thing Amelia heard before her consciousness slipped back into her body.

With that, Amelia’s eyes flew open to a remarkably familiar room. The first thing that came to her mind was Reagan, so, she tilted her head to the side hoping to find him lying next to her; and to her disappointment, he was not.

“My lady! You are awake!”

The overly familiar voice of none other than Olivia sounded, and Amelia angled her head towards the direction her voice came from. A frown appeared on Amelia’s forehead when she saw how much distance the person who wouldn’t give a second thought to gluing to her, was now keeping from her.

Yes, she understands that after what had happened during lunch, anyone in their right state of mind would keep a distance. However, it was easier to imagine than to actually see it happen for real. “Is this how everyone is going to act with me now?” Amelia’s mood became sour at that thought. “Will Reagan also feel that way around her?”

Speaking of Reagan, the scene where she begged to sever their mate bond flashed in her mind, and her heart ached to even imagine a life without him. But recalling all the secrets she had seen and learned today, Amelia’s mind couldn’t help but be filled with uncertainty.

Returning her focus to Olivia, “Am I that terrifying to the point that, you cannot wait to escape from me?” Amelia asked dolefully.

“It’s not like-“

“Heavens! You are finally awake! I was beginning to worry that something bad might have happened to you,” Shainu’s voice came from the door as she strode towards the bed where the small figure laid. “How do you feel?” Shainu asked. Although there was no evidence of any physical hurt on Amelia, she wasn’t entirely sure of what happened inside that tornado they both were in.

Amelia sat up on the bed as she stared at the Everly captivating woman seating next to her on the bed. “You shouldn’t worry about me but instead worry about Reagan because he is the one who got hurt. Not me.” Amelia said disheartened. “By the way, where is he?” She asked pressing her lips together in anxiety.

“Shainu sighed helplessly and angled her head towards Olivia, “Leave us!” She said softly then returned her gaze to Amelia.

Without another thought, Olivia quietly left the room. Indeed, she was now afraid of her lady. But not to the point that she would now keep any sort of distance from her. Because for her, Amelia was the kindest person she had ever known. And the reason she stood in that position earlier was due to uncertainty as to whether it would be her lady who wakes up, or her evil side, therefore, it was logical to keep her distance in case the latter is the one who awakes.

Back in the room…

Shainu was not sure how to begin. According to what she could make out from her conversation with Reagan two days ago, is that Amelia has no clue about Reagan being a vampire. “What should she do now?” Shainu pondered.

Seeing how the woman was deep in thoughts, and finding it difficult to begin their conversation, Amelia didn’t need anyone to tell her what was running through the woman’s mind. “There is no need to ponder about anything, I know all about him!” Amelia Stated softly.

Shainu lets out a sigh of relief. “Let me guess, that is the reason you didn’t wake up until now?”

Amelia pressed her lips together then shook her head. She didn’t know who this woman was to Reagan, but if he trusted her enough to be around her’ then she didn’t need to keep her guard up around the woman since she trusted in Reagan’s judgments. Amelia concluded.

Furthermore, if Reagan could let this woman in on his secret, considering that, he even kept it from her; thus, Amelia was certain there must be more she could learn from her. With that, she went ahead to say, “Can you tell me more about him?” She asked dejectedly.

*********

About an hour later…

“Your majesty! Are you sure you want to go on with this plan?” Griffin who was standing next to Amelia, together with Shainu and Charles, in front of a closed door, voiced out in concern.

Amelia chewed on her lower lip in apprehension. Earlier, Shainu had told her how Reagan’s vampire side, which is Zegan, first got out of control when he was only fifteen years old, and that was also the day that side of him first surfaced. So, after seeing the havoc he had reined on the people of the fairy realm he grew up in, Shainu and the fairy queen had to cast a spell on him, in other to lock Zegan up.

However, what Griffin had told her, was contradicting to what she understood from Shainu’s narrative. Because if they truly managed to lock Zegan up, then the incident that happened two centuries ago wouldn’t have been possible. And the only plausible explanation she could come up with is, that either it didn’t work because the spell wasn’t competent enough to hold him, or it wears off after some years.

Amelia’s head was full of all this information. Sure, she is super mad at Reagan for keeping all this from her. Yes, she is aware that these things would have come to her naturally after they did the mating ritual. However, this was too much for him to keep from her, she thought.

But right now, she had no idea what fate awaits her behind that closed door. Though she hadn’t seen much of Zegan in her visions, but from what she has heard about him, he seems to invoke the worst fear in everyone, and dread filled her at that thought.

“Yes, I am sure!” Amelia answered after much deliberation. At first, she couldn’t understand why Artemis had said Reagan’s mark was not in its full form, but after her talk with Shainu and giving everything a thought again, she understood that Zegan also needs to mark her. However, she couldn’t understand why the urgency. So, right now, she is left with no other choice than to meet her fate. “Whatever happens, she will take it as it is,” Amelia concluded.

With that, Griffin hesitantly punched in the codes to the digital door and pushed it open for Amelia to go in alone, then closed it behind her.
