Chapter 259: 139| Eleanor Whitmore.
VIOLET
I never wanted him to find out what happened to me because I didn’t want him to get worried. But now that I had mistakenly slipped, I had no choice but to tell him.
“Violet?” He raised his brow at me.
Exhaling sharply, I muttered, “I went into heat.”
“That wouldn’t kill you,” he said, confused.
“It almost did. And it would have if I hadn’t seen you.”
“What do you mean?” Confusion saturated his features.
“The doctor said we shared a rare kind of bond. Being apart from each other could only cause the both of us to be sick, and it was usually worse for the women. I went into severe heat that I almost died. I really thought I was going to die. The doctor said that the only solution was for us to see each other. That is the only reason why my father allowed me to come back here. He knew I was going to die if I didn’t see you.”
“Oh my...” He wrapped his arms around me. “I am so sorry you went through that, baby.”
I nodded against his chest. “What about you? Did you fall sick in any kind of way?”
He nodded. “But I didn’t know it was this serious. I just knew I missed you, and I desperately wanted to see you.”
“I missed you too,” I said with a small voice.
He rubbed my back gently to comfort me. We stayed in that position for a few more moments before pulling away from the hug.
Looking up at him, I asked, “Do you really think Zara is the one behind the kidnappings?”
“I am not sure,” he said. “It’s just a hunch, and part of me wishes it’s not true. But one thing is certain — my hunches always turn out to be true.”
I sighed heavily. “But Lila said it’s her sister, Nina, who is behind the kidnappings. Zara doesn’t look anything like Nina.”
“Maybe they could be working together?” He raised a brow.
I nodded thoughtfully. “That could be true. So, what’s the next step now?”
He opened his mouth to respond but quickly lost attention. I knew that he was on a mind link. After a while, he returned his attention to me.
“Zara is in the land of the witches. Mason and Indie tracked her precise location, and she’s in the graveyard. What does that tell you?”
My brows furrowed. “The graveyard is the best place to carry out such atrocities.”
“I need to go there now. I’ll mind link Daisy and ask her to teleport me there,” he told me.
“I am going with you,” I quickly told him.
He shook his head. “No, Violet. It might be dangerous. If Daisy and I get caught in the land of the witches, the clan leader won’t hurt us. I cannot say the same for you, knowing how much he hates Silas.”
“You’ll protect me,” I said confidently. “You’ll never allow anything to happen to me.”
“That’s right. But—”
“Please. Do not say no. I am going with you. Mind link Daisy and let’s get going,” I interrupted him.
He stared at me for a moment before sighing and giving in. “Fine.”
He mind linked Daisy and told her about it. It didn’t even take long before she found us where we were and teleported us to the land of the witches.
That was my first time there, and I couldn’t hide my amazement. It was even more beautiful than I imagined. The fresh flowers that were everywhere made the air feel and smell really nice. What was even more impressive was how it was hidden from the outside world. What I saw at first was a vast grassland until Daisy cast a spell that revealed everything.
Everything about the witches’ lands was impressive.
Daisy had cloaked us so no one could see us as we navigated through the land of the witches. She led us to the graveyard, and as we walked through, we sighted Zara by a grave, laying a flower on it.
She was crying vigorously, hitting her chest as if she was in pain.
“Who is that?” I murmured curiously.
Daisy shook her head. “No idea. Maybe a family member.”
We watched her from a distance for a few more minutes before she finally laid the flower on the grave and promptly walked out of the burial ground.
Without hesitation, the three of us rushed towards the graveside she had just left.
On the tombstone was the picture of a brunette woman. I looked at the name.
Eleanor Whitmore. Born April 3, 1948 and died September 17, 2017.
“Today is her death anniversary,” Daisy whispered.
“I wonder who she is,” Axel said thoughtfully, dipping his hands in his pockets.
“Maybe she’s her mother?” I muttered.
Axel pulled out his phone and started typing something on it.
“What are you doing?” I asked curiously.
“Texting Mason and Daisy. We have to find out who this is.” He slipped his phone back into his pocket and looked at me. “It might lead us to who Zara truly is.”
Come to think of it, Zara had never spoken about family. She just had this mysterious vibe to her. Who was she really?
“Fuck. We have to leave now!” Daisy said with urgency, her gaze fixed towards a direction.
Axel and I quickly snapped our gazes in that direction to see someone walking into the graveyard.
The power radiating from him was so intense and powerful. I needed no one to tell me that that was the witches’ clan leader, Kaelin.
He suddenly stopped, a hard frown masking his face as he snapped his gaze around.
“Fuck. He sensed us,” Daisy panicked.
