Chapter 65
Lana's P.O.V.
It doesn't take long for all of the wolves around me to be in their human forms, and only my people that I have come to rescue were around me in their wolf forms. In other words, we had complete control over the situation because if they weren't in their wolf form, then they couldn't defend against us. Personally, I saw anybody transforming into their wolf form as an aggressor, and the consequence would be a sweet bite on their dear master.
It was a lot easier for me to do my job when I noticed that they all seemed to adore him, and they actually were very loyal to him. I would have thought that it would have taken me a lot more to defeat them, that I would have to injure the master and then still somehow find a way to take them all out one by one. After all, they were rogues, and I expected that they would have no real leader and wouldn't care, but they did, and so my goal was very easily accomplished.
I looked at them all, still holding the rope leader's leg in my teeth. I did say I had already fallen in love with this leg, and if anybody did anything at all to threaten me, he would feel the brunt of it. They all seemed to realize that I wasn't going to harm him for no just reason, having no reason to do so. I finally dropped his leg from my mouth, though with a lot of hesitation. One of my people came over and quickly tied him up.
I looked at all of them, transforming into my human form. "I'm the Alpha of the park beyond here," I told them simply, my voice loud enough for all of them to hear me. "You guys are attacking my park, so I came here to find out more about it," I continued. "I don't really want to harm you all," I said, "but I would like for you guys to come with me."
They looked at the leader, who was still groaning on the ground. I smiled at their loyalty, but it wasn't going to really get them anywhere right now because loyalty was only something small at the moment. "I'm giving you a choice," I told them, my voice level. "Either follow me, or I destroy you all. I want you to come and fight for the good side, fight for the winning side, and you either do it or pay the price," I told them simply.
They looked apprehensive, and I looked at the leader, noticing that they were waiting for him once again. "Choose," I told him. "The people could die, or you could save them." I wanted him to actually join us because it was going to be a significant addition to our forces, even though the Alpha might not approve.
"Can you guarantee that I and my people will be safe?" he started, his eyes going over to the people with him. "That we won't be slaves and captives?"
I contemplated for a while before nodding. "I can give you my word," I said. I thought about the Alpha for a while, what would happen if he didn't approve, but I somehow felt like he would. If he didn't, well, things would be really tough, but I would find a way to keep my promise to them because I simply had to.
"I give you my word that you guys would be safe enough with us and won't be killed for no reason, and neither would you guys be used as slaves," I said. "But you guys might be servants," I continued, "and also you might have to join us to fight against the other rogues."
He contemplated my words, and I waited for him to choose. I didn't really have any qualms with killing them all right here. The only problem was that it was going to be actually difficult considering that we didn't really have much manpower with us at the moment. If I ended the leader and all of the rogues started fighting against all of my people, then it was going to be a really bloody battle with no clear winner. I didn't want it to be like that, so peace was the safest option. In addition, we were still in their territory, and as such, there was a very high tendency for backup to come for them, but as for us, no backup could come. So it was best I opted for a better way instead.
What's more, they seemed to have a lot of care for this leader, so if I could get a favorable deal out of it, I would try my best. He nodded and looked at his people. They all backed down, each one of them dropping to their knees and bowing. I felt like a queen - I was a queen, but I felt more like a queen than I had for a very long time now.
I nodded to my soldiers that had come with me, and they went over, tying up the rogue wolves. Soon enough, we were all marching away, though in silence without a war cry or anything like that because we were still in enemy territory. It was almost impossible that we had won, but it was clear now that we had actually managed it. I felt very happy myself that I had actually accomplished something great, and I also wanted to celebrate, but not yet. Although we had done a lot now, it was still not set in stone, and we needed a lot more effort to make sure that everything ended well at the very end. Because right now, it was just at the beginning.
A long hour passed before we finally got through the borders. I smiled, thinking of my accomplishments. Impressing the Alpha had been one of my greatest goals nowadays, and now I seemed to suddenly be getting better and better at doing it. The proud expression on his face when I managed it - that thought was something I was really looking forward to at the moment, and I knew that he would be very happy to see my success.
I looked at all of my soldiers and came before them to commission them. None of them were people I was really familiar with, but at the moment, their importance could not be overemphasized. "You all followed me today," I said, smiling, "and you did everything it took for us to have this great victory today."
I continued, "I would give you an honorary title if I had the power to do that, but I can't. However, you all risked your lives for my sake and for the sake of the pack. For that, I'm really grateful." Somehow they seemed to feel happy with it, even though I felt like it wasn't enough at all. "Thank you" was hardly any reward for all they had done. At the moment, it was honestly all I had that I could give without having to get permission from the Alpha.
One soldier spoke up, smiling as he said, "We are honored to have been able to help you, to be part of this." After he said that, the others were more excited and cheerful, and I smiled at them. I wouldn't forget what they had done. I would work with them again because it wasn't a bad experience at all. If anything, they had actually done their best, and I really appreciated it.
I started off heading for the dock where the Alpha was supposed to be. All the others - the rogue pack that I had brought with me - were in a single file behind me. I honestly wondered what the Alpha would say when he saw my convoy moving alongside me.
