Chapter 64
Lana
The fight grows fierce, but that's not what really bothers me. I can take a little intensity, after all. What my real fear is how he seems to drag the fight on - something that's supposed to have ended within just a couple of minutes.
I find out that he has regained his footing in the battle, and if that is really the case, then my chances of winning are very small. They can be said to be non-existent. After all, he is the leader of Rogue Weirus in the first place and therefore one of the strongest people I could encounter.
As for the other guy, I can clearly see that things are not going quite well for him at the moment. Sure, he's doing his best and trying to hold against all the others that are fighting against him, but it's almost impossible for him to succeed because of the odds stacked up against him. He's not the most allied of all of us, after all, and I'm pretty sure that even if it was this rogue leader against all of them at the moment, he would lose terribly against them.
"Oh, it's not my fault," I think to myself, already seeing the future right in front of me. We will lose, and all of us will be captured. This whole mission will turn out to be a problem for the Alpha instead of a solution. We could have just escaped when we had the chance, but I took it upon myself to actually apprehend them and try to make the situation more than a success for us. It would have been at least nice if we had passed the information to the Alpha and ensured that particular plan didn't work, but we were too greedy, and now it was going to cost us a lot.
I find myself giving in to fear and dismay as the rogue leader moves more smoothly the next couple of minutes. He seems to know exactly what he's doing and systematically attacks me in a way that I can't really explain. It's devastating how he seems to know exactly what to do in order to counter all my moves. What's more, my personal moves aren't that strong in the first place, and my skills aren't good enough to stand against him.
I feel rusty, as if my bones are just a bit too stiff as he continues thrashing me about. The tables are completely turned at the moment, and I know that he's not just going to win - he's going to have a one-sided battle against me. After which, he would win, and I would come out worse off with my mouth bloodied and other parts of my body aching, if I didn't break a couple of bones.
"Make it even more painful and humiliating for me," a voice in my head speaks at that moment - something strange, something dormant. I don't know how it suddenly comes to be, but the confidence and coldness in the voice has me perking with anticipation.
"How dare he?" the voice rings in my ears again and again until my blood is rushing to my head, and I'm pumping with some kind of rage I didn't know I had within me. How dare he? I'm the loner of my path and a very powerful one at that. I'm ennobled by birth, and who is he? Simply some kind of rascal that seems to think that he can have the world in his hands just because he has a little power and a lot of wolves.
I glance and see that it's not just me at the moment. They are literally playing around with the other soldier that had come with me to rescue them all. Since my plan had fallen through, they weren't fighting him anymore but beating him up and down, simply treating him like he's nobody - degrading him worse than a human should be treated and playing with him in ways that make me disgusted.
"Oh, he's going to pay for it, all right," I think to myself, looking at the rogue leader and suddenly howling through the moon. It's probably a mistake because that's how we might gather more enemies around us, but I can't care less at the moment. I feel some kind of power surge through me. Somehow, I feel like the night is giving me its energy, like the power from the moon is fueling me as I grab the rogue leader and smash him into the ground with a loud thud.
He tries to struggle against me, but the power flowing through my veins is so real at the moment. The energy that grips me allows me to hold him in a way that he can't even move a muscle. I smash him into the ground again and then a third time. I notice the noise around me has suddenly turned silent as everybody looks to wonder what is actually going on.
I know that all these men are watching now, so I find myself getting even more angry. Well, if they're watching, I'll make sure to give them a show - something to talk about, something to feast their eyes on, I think to myself as I bring my teeth over to his leg. His eyes widen, and he tries to hit me, but then at the crucial moment, I bite down on his leg long before he can hit my head with his iron claws.
He screams in pain and terror after I bite down, and he somehow isn't able to hit my head anymore. I bite down again, feeling bones cracking between my teeth and sucking on the blood and other liquid, whatever it is that makes up his bones. I take another bite, cracking it once again and feeling very good about myself, especially when I hear these screams that come after each and every single bite from me. It's the same spot of his leg that I've bitten three times now.
I notice a couple of wolves running towards me at the moment, their eyes wide in terror as they approach me. I know what they want - they want to stop me from doing this, from hurting their master. But if they really think that is going to work against me that easily, then they must be mistaken because I'm not about to let it be so easy. Oh, they want me to stop hurting their master, but it's not really in their position to decide anything.
I personally want to simply teach them all a lesson, but I know that I can't do it. I can't destroy them all while still focusing on their master. However, I do know that even though I don't have the ability to multitask in this particular situation, I do have a couple of things to my advantage.
I pick him up with my teeth and put him between us. They stop apprehensively, and I make to bite him again. They move back a little, getting my signal, and I smile as much as possible. That's exactly the point. Now that I have their leader with me, I can hold him hostage and control them potentially. They can't keep on attacking me if I have their leader in my hands, and if anything happens to me or if they don't do what I want them to do, then I'm going to really put him through so much pain.
It all goes down to how loyal they are to him. But if they turn out to not be loyal to him, I would just have to think of an alternative. Right now, they seem to be quite attached to him, so I know that I can keep using him to my advantage, at least for a while.
I bite him a little more, and he lets out a small scream. Just like I thought, they suddenly push back a little like they want to pacify me and stop me from torturing him for no just reason at all. I decide that maybe I should relax a little. I don't turn into my human form though, because I know that if I do, then I'm going to lose some of my control. And even though this werewolf now seems pretty subdued, he's probably just deceiving me, and he has a couple of trump cards to pull a trick on me.
All of a sudden, I bite a little again on his leg, that particular bone that is probably very sore now because of all my bites. I just can't help myself. It's so cool. I notice that they have completely left my other colleague now, and he's free from their clutches - heavily beaten up, but he's smiling as he walks up to me. I can still talk in my wolf form, but somehow I think he knows exactly what I want to say, and he will pass my information across.
