Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Poisoning
ARIANNA'S POV
“We would be back soon, take care of yourself” I said to Greta as I held her hand in mine.
“I would” she squeezed my hand, bowing to Lucien.
“Have a nice trip back, Alpha”
We walked out of the palace, the guards positiomed outside to escort us to the airport.
“We are so sorry for the incident that occurred during your stay here” The head guard let out, bowing deeply to Lucien.
“Work on your search skills” Lucien replied as he entered into the car.
Immediately we were on the plane I remembered what my grandmother had said to me.
“My grandmother called, she said to tell you soldier ants are coming for you” I disclosed, even though it sounded like gibberish to me.
“When did she tell you this?” He asked. I looked at him then, wondering why he sounded like that.
His face was tense, his finger tapping incessantly against the armrest like it did whenever he was thinking.
“She called me yesterday while you were in the woods” I explained.
“The wolf had said something similar while we fought” he mumbled out, his eyes locking with mine.
I repeated the words in my head, the meaning taking different forms.
“Could it be…? Does it mean there is an uprising?” I questioned, my heart speeding up.
“That is the only answer that is clear to me” he replied, his fingers linking.
“Is there anything linking it with Radiel Krook?” I asked.
If anyone would start an uprising, he would be my first suspect.
After all, he had attacked Knight and I more than once.
“Both wolves we had caught had died of poison” Knight replied.
That was enough details to connect the dots of who was behind the attacks.
“What would you do?” I asked. There was two ways he could go about it; either he calls the council to the issue and have them summon Radiel or he takes matters into his hands.
“I would see how the council meeting for today goes” he mumbled out.
I swallowed, the urge to ask him what it was about was strong but I didn't.
I already knew what it was about and I knew he wouldn't tell me if I asked.
He would want to protect me. That is why I have decided to follow him to the meeting.
While Knight and I were…dating? Dating felt like a too weak word to use but anywat, since Knight and I had gotten together even before he had never given me any special treatment.
And if they chose to remain adamant on their claims, I would involve the law.
They had to have concrete evidence or they would get sued for defamation council elders or not.
“It is going to be alright” I reassured him, rubbing at his biceps.
He looked at me for a while before he lifted me out of my seat onto my thighs.
I let out a squeak in surprise, my fingers biting into his shoulders for dear life.
“Some warning would have been nice” I mumbled out as I settled into his arms properly, my head resting against his chest.
“Now you know” he rumbled out, wrapping his arms around me.
For now we would enjoy each other's embrace before we entered into the chaos that was back home.
Immediately we landed back into our city, reporters were sighted at the airport from the tarmac.
“We would need another route to get home” Lucien told Darryl, the man nodded sharply before he turned the car into a different path.
The frontage of both of our houses were filled by the time we drove there, reporters swarm around the place like flies.
“When and where is the meeting taking place?” I asked as Lucien checked the time for the umpteenth time.
“The meeting would be in the Moonlight pack, it is scheduled for 2pm” he responded, his shoulders tense.
It was already 1:50pm. Just few minutes left before the meeting would start.
“Why don't we drop from the car and board a cab?” I suggested.
The reason why the reporters had known how location before we even got there must be because our car had been snapped on the way here.
While the same might happen if we took a cab but at least the cab would be as unique as his own private car.
“Let's do that then” he agreed. Darryl nodded at us from the car as he zoomed off.
Our cab took the normal route to the Moonlight pack.
“Kieran and Lyra aren't in the pack currently, the Old man caught wind of their affair and sent them both to rehab” he disclosed to me.
“Wow, I am surprised he was about to detect with how perfect Lyra is at lying” I mumbled out, feeling nothing at the discovery.
While Kieran had the power to hurt me once upon a time, that wasn't the case anymore.
They could bought burn to ash for all I care. I squeezed Lucien's hand, dropping a soft peck to his cheek.
“Thanks for saving me when I didn't even know I needed saving” I whispered to him.
“You don't have to thank me” he responded, pulling me into his arms.
The driver cleared his throat, not meeting our eyes as we looked at him.
“We are here” he disclosed, making me look out of the window.
He had driven past the reporters by the pack’s entrance.
Lucien paid the man, before we pushed open the door to the pack house.
“We waited for so long, Alpha King” one of the council elder let out as we stepped in.
“You can go upset to see the old man” he whispered into my ear.
I shook my head, linking our fingers together. “We fight together, remember” I said to him.
He looked at me for a while before he squeezed my hand in his.
“Attorney Arianna, good that you are here too” Another council elder let out.
