Chapter 238
Alpha Xavier couldn’t find any words to respond after hearing Bella’s sharp and painful statement. Her words hit him hard, leaving him in shock. She was absolutely right—his mother was indeed a person capable of everything Bella had accused her of. In that moment, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t think of anything to say in his defense. He was utterly frozen, trapped in the truth of her words. All of the arguments he might have made seemed useless and hollow, leaving him completely speechless.
"Alpha Xavier, this is the end for us. If you truly care for me, I’m asking you to let me go. Please, let me move on. Alpha Zachary and I are going to get married soon. I’m begging you, don’t interfere with my life anymore!" Bella’s voice was filled with desperation, but her words cut deep into his heart. Each word pierced him like a dagger, making him feel as though he had already lost everything. His expression darkened, his eyes losing their spark. Could it really be true? Could Bella truly be so eager to marry Alpha Zachary? Did she really care so little about him? The thought was unbearable, but her words made it impossible to believe otherwise.
Alpha Xavier remained silent, unable to respond. His lack of reaction made Bella uneasy, but she didn’t want to stay there any longer. The pain of being near him was too much to bear. Without hesitation, she walked right past him, brushing by his shoulder as she headed in the opposite direction. She didn’t even glance back, determined to leave this moment behind her.
"Are you really not going to give me even one chance?" Alpha Xavier’s voice, filled with desperation and sorrow, rang out as they passed one another. It was as though he was clinging to his last shred of hope, begging her for the opportunity to fix what had been broken.
Bella’s tears began flowing freely, but she kept her face turned away from him. She didn’t want him to see her crying, didn’t want him to know how much this hurt her. "Even if I gave you a chance, what difference would it make?" she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "Nothing would change. Your mother despises me, and you hold so many prejudices against me. We could never find happiness together, no matter how much we might want to. Alpha Xavier, love isn’t enough to fix everything. I’ve tried for so long, but I can’t anymore. Three years of pain and heartbreak have already destroyed me. How much longer do you expect me to live like this?"
Her voice carried a deep and overwhelming sadness, a kind of grief that words could barely express. It was as though all her emotions were pouring out at once, and her words struck Alpha Xavier like a blow to the chest. He felt as though his heart was plunging into an endless abyss, the weight of her sorrow pulling him down. He remained motionless, like a lifeless statue, unable to do anything but watch her walk away. Even after her figure disappeared into the distance, he still couldn’t bring himself to move.

The pack hospital was quiet and dimly lit, with only the faint glow of medical equipment cutting through the darkness. Itzel and Samantha had returned to the hospital, ready to perform an important and delicate operation. Itzel, with her extensive knowledge and expertise in advanced medical technology, was confident in her abilities. She quickly got to work, carefully transferring the fetus into Samantha’s womb. The procedure required precision and focus, but Itzel handled it expertly. After some time, the operation was completed successfully. Everyone involved breathed a collective sigh of relief, feeling a weight lift from their shoulders. The tension that had filled the room finally dissolved as they realized it had all gone smoothly.
Once the procedure was finished, Itzel turned her attention to Samantha, giving her strict instructions. "You need to stay here and rest for a few hours," she said firmly. "It’s very important that you avoid any kind of strenuous activity. If you push yourself too hard, it could slow your recovery or even cause the procedure to fail." Itzel’s tone was serious, emphasizing the importance of following her advice. Samantha nodded in agreement, understanding the gravity of the situation.
With her responsibilities at the hospital complete, Itzel decided to leave and head home to rest. Samantha and Pamela, however, stayed behind, keeping watch throughout the night to ensure everything remained stable. The hospital remained quiet as they waited for dawn to arrive, both women doing their best to stay alert.
Not long after Itzel’s departure, a man wearing a military coat entered the hospital. He moved quietly through the building, his presence almost unnoticed. He wandered the hallways for a while before making his way to the parking lot. The hospital’s security team was lax at this late hour, giving the man an opportunity to act without interference. He strolled through the parking lot, scanning the vehicles until he spotted an Audi with a handbag resting on its back seat. His eyes lit up with excitement as he realized it could be valuable. Carefully, he pulled out a glass cutter and broke the window, making as little noise as possible. He reached inside, grabbed the handbag, and quickly searched through its contents. After taking anything of value, he disappeared into the night, leaving nothing but the broken window behind.

In the United States, a sense of unease washed over Elinor as she watched the chaotic scene unfold. Everyone was rushing Leo to the hospital, their urgency making it clear that something serious had happened. Elinor’s heart sank, and a feeling of dread settled over her. Madam Zachary, who was usually composed and polite, wore a grim and troubled expression as she oversaw the situation. Elinor could tell that this was no small matter. Once Leo was safely sent to the hospital, Madam Zachary turned to the servants, instructing them to escort the remaining guests out of the house. Then, without another word, she retreated to her study, her face still clouded with worry.
Elinor, who prided herself on her social standing and reputation, felt deeply insulted by the way she had been dismissed. Being sent away by servants was a humiliation she couldn’t tolerate. Her anger bubbled up inside her as she left the Zachary estate, fuming over the incident. On her way back to her hotel, she repeatedly tried to call her son, desperate to speak with him and vent her frustration. But every time she called, her attempts were rejected, further fueling her rage. She felt as though she might explode with anger, and she desperately needed someone to take it out on. If she had been back in the pack, the first person she would have turned on was the nanny, Riya. But being far from home left her without anyone to target.
Frustrated and with no other options, Elinor decided to call Itzel. Itzel, who had just returned home from performing the operation at the hospital, was surprised to see Elinor calling at such a late hour. Sensing that something must have gone wrong, she quickly answered the phone. Elinor wasted no time recounting the day’s events, her voice filled with anger and disbelief. When Itzel heard that Leo was Alpha Xavier’s child, she was stunned. "Are you completely sure about this?" she asked, unable to hide her shock.
"Without a doubt," Elinor replied firmly. "At first, I wasn’t certain either. But when I looked closely, I realized the child’s resemblance to Alpha Xavier is unmistakable. He looks exactly like Xavier did as a child. There’s no question in my mind—he’s Xavier’s son!" Elinor’s anger then shifted toward Bella. "That horrible woman kept the child a secret from us and refused to let us recognize him as part of our family. What could her motives possibly be?"
"She must have a plan," Itzel said, seizing the opportunity to fuel Elinor’s growing resentment. "She’s probably using the child to improve her own position and gain power for herself."
"If she was pregnant when the divorce happened, why didn’t she tell us?" Elinor fumed. "If I had known she was carrying Xavier’s child, I never would have forced the divorce to happen!" As always, Elinor shifted the blame away from herself, refusing to acknowledge her own role in the situation. In her mind, everything that had gone wrong was Bella’s fault.
"Who knows what she was thinking?" Itzel replied, though she already knew the truth. Bella’s pride and feelings of betrayal had kept her from revealing the truth about her pregnancy. Still, Itzel saw an opportunity to manipulate the situation further. The more Elinor despised Bella, the easier it would be to move forward with her own plans.
"I think she’s trying to hurt Alpha Xavier and your family on purpose," Itzel added, her voice dripping with malice. "She knows how much you value grandchildren, and she knows how guilty Xavier feels about her. She’s using the child to create chaos and tear your family apart!"
