Chapter 270

There was an unsettling feeling in the air, as if something ominous was about to happen. Whispers of betrayal and lies rippled quietly through the pack, creating tension that could not be ignored. Beta Craig, burdened by a growing sense of suspicion, said his goodbyes to Bella and prepared to return to his work at the municipal government. However, fate had other plans in store for him, plans he could not anticipate. His mind was preoccupied, yet he had no idea that the events ahead would test his patience and resolve.

As Beta Craig was traveling, lost in his thoughts, his phone suddenly buzzed, pulling him back to reality. Pamela’s voice came through, hurried and filled with urgency. "Craig, you must come back quickly! Something very important has happened!" she exclaimed with panic in her tone. Beta Craig frowned, his frustration growing. He wasn’t in the mood for dramatics. "What is this all about? What’s so urgent that you had to call me now?" he asked impatiently, his voice sharp with irritation.

Pamela hesitated, her voice trembling as she finally revealed the truth. "It’s Samantha… she… she’s pregnant!" she admitted, her words slow and uncertain, as though even she was struggling to process the news. Beta Craig’s face hardened immediately, his emotions shifting to shock and disbelief. He sat upright, his eyes narrowing as he stared at Clem, who was driving the car. Without a moment's hesitation, he barked, "Turn the car around immediately! We’re going back now!" His tone left no room for argument.

When Beta Craig arrived home, the tension in the air was thick. Pamela paced nervously back and forth in the living room, her hands wringing together as she tried to think of a solution. Meanwhile, Samantha sat on the sofa, tears streaming down her face as she sobbed uncontrollably, her hands covering her cheeks. The moment Beta Craig entered the room, all eyes turned to him, desperate for his guidance. His expression was one of cold determination as he assessed the situation. "What do we do now?" Pamela asked, her voice trembling with desperation.

Without hesitation, Beta Craig gave his order. "Take her to the hospital immediately!" he commanded, his tone brooking no argument. Pamela and Samantha exchanged worried glances, but they knew there was no point in resisting. They quickly prepared to leave, though their hearts were heavy with dread. As they rushed Samantha into the car, Pamela’s anxiety grew. She suspected Beta Craig’s true intentions—he wasn’t taking Samantha to the hospital to offer support. He intended to force her to terminate the pregnancy, without even listening to their side of the story. Pamela felt a chill run down her spine at the thought.

Inside the car, Samantha’s sobs grew louder, her tears falling like rain as she tried to make sense of what was happening. Her heart ached with anguish, knowing the life growing inside her was at risk. Pamela, sitting beside her, tried to offer some comfort, though her own emotions threatened to overwhelm her. "I took Samantha to the hospital as soon as I found out," Pamela explained bitterly, hoping her words could soften Beta Craig’s resolve. But Beta Craig remained unmoved. His cold, calculating gaze revealed nothing. "So, it’s true then? She’s really pregnant?" he asked, his voice low and sharp.

Pamela nodded hesitantly. "Yes, it’s true," she admitted. But before she could say more, Beta Craig’s expression darkened. "Then why haven’t you dealt with it yet?!" he demanded angrily, his voice rising. Pamela quickly handed him a medical report, trying to calm him down. "Her health is too fragile," she explained, her tone pleading. "The doctor said Samantha’s condition is delicate. If she continues with this pregnancy, it could ruin her chances of ever having another child. It’s a huge risk to her health." She hoped the report would make him reconsider.

Beta Craig glanced at the report, but his interest was minimal. His eyes flickered with doubt as he looked between Pamela and Samantha. He knew Samantha’s feelings for Alpha Xavier ran deep, and he suspected she would do anything to keep this child. To him, the notion of fragility and infertility sounded like an excuse, a story they had concocted to manipulate him into sparing the pregnancy. In his heart, Beta Craig scoffed at their attempts to sway him. He had seen far too much deceit in his life to believe their words so easily.

Despite his inner skepticism, Beta Craig maintained a facade of concern. "Samantha, don’t cry," he said, his voice soft but insincere. "We’ll figure this out together. I’ll take you for another examination to make sure everything is okay." His words sounded kind, but Pamela knew better. She could see the doubt in his eyes and knew he didn’t believe Samantha’s health was truly at risk. Still, she played along, supporting Samantha as she tried to calm her down. "Don’t cry, my dear," Pamela said gently. "We’ll get a second opinion. Maybe the first doctor made a mistake."

Beta Craig’s sly smile betrayed his thoughts as he led the way out of the house. Pamela and Samantha followed closely behind, their unease growing with every step. Once they were all in the car, Beta Craig leaned forward and gave Clem a new destination. "Drive us to Pack C," he ordered firmly. Pamela’s eyes widened in surprise. She hadn’t expected him to go to such lengths. Instead of taking Samantha to a nearby hospital, Beta Craig insisted on traveling to Pack C, a pack hundreds of kilometers away. The journey would take hours, but Beta Craig clearly didn’t trust anyone in their own pack.

As the car sped down the road, Beta Craig offered a casual explanation. "There are too many people watching us in our pack. We can’t risk anyone finding out about this. In Pack C, no one will recognize us," he said, his tone calm and matter-of-fact. Pamela was stunned by his reasoning. It was clear he was determined to keep the situation under wraps, no matter the cost. She feigned agreement, nodding along. "I didn’t think of that," she lied, her voice strained. "I was so worried about Samantha earlier that I acted without thinking. I hope we can handle this quietly."

Beta Craig dismissed her words with a wave of his hand, his focus shifting to his phone. He quickly made a call, and the voice on the other end greeted him warmly. "Craig, what brings you to call me? It’s been ages!" the voice said, full of humor. Beta Craig wasted no time with pleasantries. "I need your help, my old friend," he said, a hint of a smile in his voice. "I wouldn’t ask if it weren’t important." The man on the other end chuckled. "If you’re calling me, it must be serious. What’s going on?" he asked curiously.

Beta Craig explained the situation concisely. "It’s my daughter," he began. "She’s pregnant, but the circumstances are complicated. I need help ending it." The man hesitated for a moment before replying, "I see. Well, if it’s you asking, I’ll take care of it. Bring her to the hospital, and we’ll handle it discreetly." Beta Craig thanked him and ended the call, his mind already planning the next steps. A few hours later, they arrived at the hospital in Pack C, and Beta Craig wasted no time escorting Samantha inside.

At the hospital, Beta Craig’s old classmate, Isaac Ricardo, greeted them with a serious expression. Without delay, Isaac took Samantha for an examination. When he returned, his face was grim. "She’s suffered complications from a previous abortion," Isaac explained. "Her body has been damaged, making pregnancy nearly impossible. The fact that she’s pregnant now is a miracle. But if she continues with this pregnancy, she may never conceive again." Beta Craig was stunned by the revelation, realizing Pamela’s earlier words were true after all.

Isaac continued, his voice heavy with concern. "And there’s one more thing. The blood test shows she’s carrying twins." Beta Craig barely reacted to the news. Whether it was one child or two didn’t matter. What truly worried him was the long-term impact this would have on Samantha. If she couldn’t have children in the future, it would weigh heavily on her. Pamela, standing nearby, tightened her grip on Samantha’s hand. "What are we going to do?" Pamela whispered, her voice trembling. Samantha remained silent, lost in thought, her face pale with despair.
