Chapter 35: Red Fox Mercenary Group
Eve got out of the car alone, stepping through the waist-high weeds, walking step by step toward the location in her memory.
Soon, at a corner covered in dirt, she found a protruding stone.
She smiled coldly. So it really was like this.
After all these years, nothing had changed?
She stepped down on it.
After a series of harsh mechanical sounds, the ground in front of her split open from the middle, revealing a transparent elevator.
Eve didn't hesitate and stepped right in.
As the elevator rapidly descended, within seconds, a completely different scene appeared before Eve's eyes.
In front of her was a massive training ground, with countless men and women in camouflage uniforms mixed throughout.
All kinds of training activities were happening everywhere, exactly as she had imagined.
Eve's appearance instantly drew everyone's attention.
"Who are you? How did you get in here?" In front of the elevator door, a round-faced girl was the first to spot Eve, and her expression changed immediately.
This place was a secret among secrets. Except for their own people, outsiders would never know about it.
Let alone this elevator.
She knew that in the three years since she'd been here, she'd never seen anyone use this elevator.
Even when they occasionally went in and out, they used other exits.
They didn't dare, and had no authority, to use this elevator.
"Tell Blake Wolfe to come see me."
Eve looked around and nodded with satisfaction. Good, this was the place she needed.
"Blake Wolfe?" The girl's expression changed several times. "Who are you? Our boss isn't someone you can just meet whenever you want."
"Go notify Blake Wolfe. If I don't see him in half a minute, I don't mind tearing this place down."
Eve had no intention of wasting time with a young girl. She lazily glanced at the room at the very back of the training ground. "Half a minute is enough."
"You, you, you're too arrogant."
"He has twenty-five seconds left." Eve was unconcerned.
"Don't go too far." The girl was clearly quite angry, her round little face puffing up.
Actually, kind of cute.
"Fifteen seconds."
Unfortunately, Eve wasn't here today to see how cute she was. She was here to get things done.
"You... Fine, I'll go, I'll go. Happy now?" The girl stamped her foot in frustration and turned to call someone.
"Bring this honored guest over."
Just then, a deep voice came through, making the girl stop in her tracks instantly. Even her expression became respectful.
"Yes, Leader."
The speaker was none other than their leader—Blake Wolfe.
This time, Eve didn't say much more. She followed the girl across the training ground to the innermost room.
She pushed open the door and walked right in.
Inside the room, a middle-aged man in camouflage was spinning a small, delicate white handgun in his hand. At this moment, he was looking at her with interest.
"Blake Wolfe, long time no see." Since Eve had decided to come today, she had no intention of hiding her identity. She sat down directly in front of Blake Wolfe, staring fearlessly at the gun in his hand.
"Who are you?" Blake Wolfe narrowed his eyes, but couldn't see through her at all. This chubby female student in front of him didn't look like someone from their world at all.
She looked like a high school student, didn't she?
Yet somehow, this person had found this place, and through that special elevator that no more than five people in the entire world knew about.
"Chaos is mine to rule!" Eve said.
"Red Fox is the law?" Blake Wolfe gasped. "You're from the Red Fox Mercenary Group?"
Blake Wolfe stood up in shock, even dropping the gun in his hand, which hit the floor with a crisp sound.
"You're actually from the Red Fox Mercenary Group?"
"A gun is a mercenary's second life," Eve stared coldly at the shocked Blake Wolfe. "Pick it up."
Blake Wolfe didn't hesitate for a second and quickly picked up the gun. Only then did he realize he had just obeyed without thinking.
His eyes instantly narrowed dangerously.
Red Fox Mercenary Group—once the absolute ruler of the dark zones. The only one who could rival their mercenary group was that even more mysterious 'Phantom'.
Strangely enough, after 'Phantom' disappeared, the Red Fox Mercenary Group also vanished, with no trace of news since.
Who would have thought that this group that had disappeared for so long would appear today?
"Who exactly are you?"
"Where there's red, the fox appears." Eve spoke, and that one sentence made Blake Wolfe's eyes widen instantly.
He looked at Eve in disbelief. "You, you're actually Red Fox?"
That legendary figure of the Red Fox Mercenary Group? That Red Fox whose true face was supposedly only seen by the assassin Eve?
Who would have thought it was a teenage high school student?
"Don't believe it?"
"I believe, I believe, I believe." Blake Wolfe said quickly.
He was just too shocked, having a hard time accepting it for a moment.
The people of the Red Fox Mercenary Group disappeared overnight, and now they appeared overnight again.
It would be strange if he wasn't surprised.
"So what brings you here today?"
Knowing her identity, Blake Wolfe spoke respectfully, unable to suppress the excitement in his eyes.
"To collect a debt." Eve said coldly. "The favor you owed me—isn't it time to repay it?"
Once, when Blake Wolfe was assassinating a target, he fell into a trap and was seriously injured.
She happened to pass by and saved him.
Afterward, she refused the high medical fee and only asked for a promise.
Now, it was time to cash in that promise.
"Just say it. Whether I can do it or not, I will do it." Blake Wolfe nodded respectfully.
The promise he made to Red Fox back then was known only to him. Now that this person had directly mentioned it, his last trace of doubt vanished instantly.
"I want this place."
Eve hadn't forgotten that her main purpose for coming today was for this all-encompassing training ground.
"Alright. Give me three days, and I'll evacuate everyone." Blake Wolfe didn't hesitate for a second and agreed directly.
As if what he was about to give up wasn't the training ground he'd poured countless effort into building, but something dispensable.
"One day." Her time was precious; she had no time to waste waiting.
"Fine!" Blake Wolfe was also straightforward and agreed immediately.
Eve nodded with satisfaction and turned to walk outside.
"Red Fox... Miss, you'd better leave this way."
Blake Wolfe paused, feeling that this form of address was somehow uncomfortable, not as satisfying as calling her Red Fox Leader before.
"The way you came in isn't safe. For the absolute security of this underground training ground, I set up another, more hidden door."
Eve wasn't surprised by this.
When she came in, she had noticed that the elevator seemed to have been unused for a long time.
She nodded and let Blake Wolfe personally lead her in another direction.
After facial recognition, voice recognition, fingerprint recognition, and iris recognition, they emerged in a high-end office building.
"Not bad. You've improved."
Eve didn't hold back her praise. "If you have nothing else going on, stay and help me for a month. The fee is five hundred million."
