Chapter 35
I'd never kissed a girl before, so maybe it was my curiosity, but when she attempted to put her tongue into my mouth, I pulled her away.
"You liked it," she said, wiping her lip. I just looked at her, but when she tried to kiss me again, I reacted quickly. I didn't wait this time; I dashed out of the kitchen.
"You don't need to fight it. I like you, too," she said, her voice gentle and almost sweet. But I did not answer. Oh my God, she was crazy. I only wanted to know if she was a lesbian, and now that I knew the answer, I had no business here.
"I swear, if you walk out that door, I'll go public," she warned, as my hand gripped the exit door handle. "Stay and have sex with me. I promise to make you cum."
"I'm not a lesbian, Layla."
"Neither am I. We're just two girls having a good time without the boys," she continued, her voice seeming manipulative. "No one will even find out but…”
"But what?"
She smiled and approached, "Oh, you sound interested… If you don't, I'll have Mom fire you. Ray's reputation will be tarnished, and you, my dear—I will not have to do anything because Mr. Taylor will end you."
"Ray's father?" I asked and she nodded.
"He dedicated his whole life to his son's success. But…" She reached up to tuck my hair behind my ear. "If you agree, I will take care of you. I will devote myself to you.”
"I'm not a lesbian, Layla."
"You do not have to be one to be mine. I only want your loyalty—no dicks, unless it’s mine."
"You have a d-dick?"
"Of course. A pink one, it's in my drawer, and I can assure you that I know how to use it well." She leaned in again, and I watched her. But before she could reach my lips, I opened the door and ran out.
She shouted that I was making a mistake, but I didn't back down. I literally sprinted until I reached the lobby and until I was outside the building. That's when I remembered—I had no idea where I was. I did not have my car either.
I reached for my phone to check my location, but stopped when I noticed a familiar person smoking leaning on a car.
"Dylan?" I approached, wondering what he was doing here.
“Hi, nerd. I didn't realise you played for the other team," he smirked. I couldn't tell whether he was joking or serious. "Leaving so early? Oh, maid uniform—I love roleplay." He licked his upper lip, forcing me to turn away.
I couldn't help but remember how they tasted and I was with his brother, so it was wrong.
"I need a ride," I said after gathering enough courage.
I expected him to say no because he was clearly here to party, but he tossed his cigarette away and told me to hop in. I did not waste a second. I took the passenger seat, and he joined me shortly and started the car.
When I checked my phone, I realised I'd missed so many calls from Ray and a couple from Harvey—but not a single one from the person I needed the most, Elliot. He didn't even read the message I sent him earlier.
"So about the uniform—"
"Is your brother home?”
"Elliot?"
"You only have one brother, Dylan." I was a little annoyed.
"Oh yes. He has a very important meeting. You know that he will be taking over full-time next month."
"Next month.”
"That's what I said. Now about the roleplay—"
"There is no roleplay. My boss's daughter brought me here to serve, only for her to try and rape me."
"Rape you?" He chuckled. "A girl—"
"I mean, she kissed me without my permission, so that's pretty much the same, if you ask me."
"Oh, sorry. Are you OK?" He mocked, and so I didn't respond. "Well, nerd, why did you agree to come here? You know this is where hungry lesbians live."
"And, what were you doing there? Don't say you're gay, because you don't strike me as one—I mean..." I paused, thinking how neatly he left the bathroom the other time. "Never mind," I said, and he chuckled.
"Oh no that's not for me, I love pussy."
"Oh…" I uncomfortably cleared my throat. Speaking of which, lesbians are also the horniest. I came here to see if I could get lucky," he remarked, and I didn't respond as I focused on sending Elliot another text.
The rest of the ride was silent. Dylan dropped me off, and while I thanked him, he said nothing. He just drove away, probably to go chase down the horny lesbians, as he stated. It's not my business.
I entered, my phone buzzing in my hand. It was Ray again. I knew I was supposed to meet him, but Layla already warned me.
I just needed to speak with Elliot and explain before it got out. He was the only thing that was important right now.
"I have been calling you. Where have you been?" Harvey jumped at me as soon as I stepped inside. I remembered we hadn't actually talked since his confession. "We need to talk."
"Harvey, now's not the time, okay?" It actually wasn't. Sandra, Layla—my life was crumbling. The only good thing left was Elliot, and I wanted to focus on that.
"I need a favour," Harvey continued to push. I just nodded and dropped to the couch, chewing my finger and debating whether or not to call Elliot. "I want you to forget what I told you the other night.”
"Done. Now, can you please leave me alone?”
"Sure. But Phoebe's coming for the weekend, so—"
"You're scared I might tell her?"
"Obviously. "
"Oh, baby Jesus." I got up and headed toward the bedroom. Of course, he followed, still urging me to make a promise. I felt kind of bad, so I turned to him. "Why did you say it then? You wanted to sleep with me?"
"What? Oh yes, I was horny, Lex; that's why. Now are you happy?" I wasn't surprised anymore. I couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or really just wanted sex from me.
I slammed the door in his face and called Elliot. At least Elliot was honest. Fuck, why did I even care that Harvey didn't really love me?
"Elliot is in the bathroom. Leave a message.”
"Excuse me?" I couldn't tell whether it was the automatic voice response robot or a lady.
"I said Elliot is in the bathroom. I've seen your thousand texts. Sorry, I am keeping him busy."
"Busy?.. okay, who's this?"
"Mindy. And you're… Alexis, right?” She sounded as if she had just read my name over the phone.
I gulped and took a deep breath, trying not to think about what this all meant. That's when I heard Elliot ask whether she was ready for round four…
My phone slid from my grasp and fell to the floor, accompanied by a tear. I had no idea when they welled up in my eyes—but now my vision was blurry. My heart felt like it was going to stop.
I could feel it in my fingers and toes, as if I'd been shocked—electrocuted.
