Chapter 76: Trust Him

LILITH’S POV

When he brought all of us to his office, I was expecting that meeting will be around witches, but the unfolding of details truly left me astonished. Although, I am pissed at him for using himself as an example to make us understand his point and daring to ask me to assume that he is dead.

Irene composed me to not think badly and pick what he was trying to tell us. Noah’s objections were right and I was surprised to see that he is very sharp when it comes to observation, he is the guy who either stays silent or low key but now I understand if Caleb has chosen him as his gamma, there is a reason behind it.

Meeting ended up with Ethan being assigned another task to find the similar name of visitors in the list of dead Alpha’s, well, that’ right approach, however, when Caleb asked Noah to keep eyes on Oberon, my eyes widened and all senses came on alert but I didn’t let my expression to show up until Noah left the room.

After the death of Uncle Victor, my mind was only worrying about one thing and that was the book on white wolf. Irene was curious too along with being concerned that how we would get that book now, but Caleb clicked the idea in my mind that I could go by myself and find the book, maybe I can look into other books as well but looks like Caleb didn’t like this idea because he was staring me blankly.

‘What happened? Can’t I go their?’ I patted lightly on his cheek, he startled and tightened his hands around me, my side posture hitting his chest.

‘Of course you can go. It will be instead good. You will get the chance to meet council members and other staff. As a Luna, it is worth going. But there is just one problem’ my lips stretched to form a grin at his words but at the mention of but and one problem, they shrank back to their normal.

‘What problem?’ I was looking into his eyes that were deep and dense with a lot of thoughts and emotions.

‘Threat of witches attack is looming over us and in this situation, I can’t let you go alone.’ I opened my mouth to let him know that I am white wolf and their magic won’t work on me so he doesn’t have to worry about it but before I could have said it, he pressed his index finger on my lips, signal to keep my mouth shut and listen to him. Although I glared at him for treating his mate like that, but he wasn’t bothered, instead a teasing smile played in the corner of his lips.

‘How about you wait for few days, I am busy these days because of working on security plan of the pack and pack house specially, so we can go together after I get free and find the book’ I sighed and shook my head.

‘Caleb, I am white wolf. Irene can absorb their magic so attacking on me will be just the waste of their power’ I shrugged my shoulders as if can’t say much about the stupidity of those witches but nope, he can’t agree with me.

‘Even, if you are white wolf and can absorb the magic, witches do not have only magic to kill someone. They have numerous methods of killing anyone; therefore, you are not going alone. I won’t keep myself focused on work and my mind will drift towards you. So, it’s better you wait for few days, and I will take you to the council myself.’ I wriggled in his arm to get free annoyed at him.

‘Caleb, that’s not the way. The threat is over us until we do not find rogue leader and kill him. You have plenty of things to handle and they need your time. They are important and I don’t want you to rush while handling them because you have to accompany me to the council.’ I objected.

‘Lilith, listen to me’ I shook my head.

‘No, you listen to me. First thing, council is a safe place, second, I am wolf, a white wolf and can protect myself, and the last thing… Nobody knows about the book except us, we don’t have to announce my visit to council. I will go, find the book and will come back quietly. It won’t even take a full day, so why make it complicated’ I was huffing in the end, and he hung his head low, rubbing his fingers on his forehead.

‘What you said is all right, but you should understand I will be worried for you. Who can tell, if there any of your abilities awakens and you will lose the consciousness, that’s what your past track has been. I can’t take risk’ he raised his hands up, not giving up on the idea of him coming with me. I stomped my leg on the floor and stood up.

‘Irene won’t lose consciousness this time, she will promise you and Kaden’ I was almost near to beg, although I can wait for few days, that book is already rotting in some corner of the library since years so it is safe no worries but something inside me was pushing me, like urging me to run fast and grab that book before it lands in someone else’s hand that could become dangerous for us.

‘Why are you being so stubborn for a book’ I pressed my lips together and looked at him.

‘You don’t want Irene to learn about her abilities?’ my question makes him choke and he stood up immediately holding me by shoulder.

‘I am eager, even more than you but just fear for your safety’ his voice low and I sighed. I understand his worry for me and he was right, I quietly closed the distance between us and hugged him, resting my head on his chest, hearing his heartbeat that was running in a beautiful rhythm. Satisfying smile spread on my lips and I closed my eyes to relax and calm myself, I am sure, our touch would have composed him too, because his hand loosely rested on my waist and lips on my forehead.

‘Caleb, why don’t you add me as a member of Creek Star Pack. Once I am the member of pack, I will be able to mind link you and if there is any trouble, we can communicate quickly.’ I mumbled, our faces were close and his all senses were focused on mine, so I was sure he had heard me.

‘No, it’s not right time yet’ his blatant denial shattered my heart, and his words stung in my eyes, water gathered in them, I had to blink to strict them to not fell. I wasn't expecting to hear this from him.

‘You still do not accept me as your mate?’ words came out of my mouth shakily, I quickly distant myself from him, but he was too quick to hold me and bring me close to him. Tears betrayed me and streamed down on my cheeks, keeping me vulnerable in front of him. He quietly raised his hand and slowly wiped those tears, I flinched at the touch, suddenly it felt foreign.

He smiled softly and retreating his hand from my cheeks, he lowered it to rest it on my neck, exactly where he had marked me and began tracing his mark.

‘It’s beautiful and looks perfect on you’ he murmured and glanced at me, for a moment our eyes met and next second he lowered his head to plaster a wet kiss on the mark, I moaned at the touch, it was sudden, uninformed, unprepared. His grip on my waist tightened, bringing me close to him, I gasped when his one hand slid between my thighs and rested their.

‘Caleb?’ in a seconds, I was breathless, but he ignored my whisper and begin devouring me lowering his mouth until it stopped right above my cleavage, and his hand dipped through my jeans to touch my bare skin, I panicked and punched him on shoulder despite the loud pounding of my heart.

‘We are in your office’ I tried to make him realize the place we were at, but he lifted his head up, locked his eyes with mine and passed a side smile at me.

‘I think, I wasn’t good yesterday at the bed, that’s why you still questioned my love and care for you’ he dipped his head again over my chest, slowly removing my shirt from shoulders, revealing my skin to him.

‘I didn’t question your love’ between gasps and moans, I said to him.

‘Didn’t you ask whether I accept you as my mate or not?’ I bit my lower lip, I got where this conversation was leading to and stopped him from moving forward by pressing my both hands on his chest.

‘I didn’t mean that, you refused to add me as member, what does it mean if not that you don’t accept me as your mate’ tears again rolled down, making me look like a fool in front of him. He sighed and ran his hand in hair frustratingly.

‘You have my mark, we mated last night, what other assurance do you want?’ I looked at him with lots of complaints in my eyes, he was still not getting my point.

‘Lilith, please understand, there are few things which we have to sort out first before I make you member of this pack. I can’t tell you those right now, but you have to trust me, do you trust me?’ his question was like a cold water poured over me.

‘Than wait for the right time. Trust me, you will appreciate yourself for not rushing’ I gulped but nodded my head. I don’t know what his reasons are, and whether I will like them or not, but he has asked me to trust him, and I have no other choice except to do that.

‘Fine’ I lowered my gaze, looking at floor with sadness filled in my heart. His hands cupped my face and forced me to look at him.

‘Never question my love for you, your are my soulmate, my mate, my other half’ he was rubbing his thumb slowly on my lip. At this moment I just realized how toxic his touch is, I lose all my sanity at his touch and begin to crave for more of him.

‘I love you Lilith’ he whispered those magical words to me and without giving me any space to react, captured my lips, deepening our kiss. I joined him by kissing him back, our lips moving in perfect sync. He was slowly moving us, my legs dragging with him, our lips locked until I felt a couch behind my legs and carefully, he pushed me making me lay down on it.

‘We are in your office,” I reminded him again, but he shrugged his shoulders while taking off his shirt.

‘They won’t dare defy my order’ I looked at him confused but he pressed his lips on mine, resting his body weight on his elbow. Our moans were echoing in the room, my vision was getting blur when I suddenly remembered that main discussion isn’t concluded yet.

‘Wait, you didn’t allow me to go to library’ I pushed him back, he groaned not liking my interruption to break our kiss.

‘We’ll talk later about it’ he was still being stubborn, my brows knitted.

‘Okay, I have something important to do’ I tried to get up when he pressed his hand on my shoulder and forced me to stay laid.

‘Fine but take Adrian with you.’ I smiled.

‘Hurray, thanks’ I gave him a quick kiss and again tried to get up when he glared at me.

‘Not now, after we are done.’ I gave him baffled look, but my cheeks flushed in red when I saw him smirking at me and his hand moved to unbuckle the belt.

‘Caleb!’ I moaned his name when he swiftly inserted himself in me after removing our clothes.
