Chapter 60: Chase Them

CALEB’S POV

I was towering over my desk, where I had spread the large map of our region.

After what happened yesterday with Lilith and Margaret’s confirmation that witches are visiting my pack house has left me with no option except to proceed fast and get to them before they achieve for what they have been doing all this.

No pack is cooperating and I complained about it at council. According to them they had signed the alliance deal, which only binds them to fight with each other if attacked by rogues, other than that they had no duty of stopping them or reaching them to eliminate the cause and threat over us.

I should have also thought that way, but something was keeping me and Kaden unsettled, and after the recent incidents that had happened with us, I am sure, things aren’t to be taken easy and doing so will only cause us to be wiped out by them which I, as the Alpha, won’t let it to happen.

‘Caleb, you called us?’ The door of my office was pushed open gently and Ethan entered along with his mate. It is I guess second time I saw her. She was looking better and a little bit confident compared to last time. Looks like Ethan was treating her well and they have improved their bond better. I was happy to see that, as far as, she isn’t threat for my pack and my beta, I will always treat her with respect and care as my pack member.

‘Yeah, come and sit’ having black marker in my hand I marked a circle on the map, Ethan came close to me in curiosity, having his mate seated on one of the couches in my office.

‘What is it?’ he asked, I marked another circle and looked at him, his eyes were fixed on map, trying to understand what was going on in my mind. I patted on his shoulder, go and sit with her, I’ll explain after everyone arrives.

‘Everyone?’ I nodded.

‘Yeah, your Luna, her pack members, Noah’ he nods in understanding, I then picked the map and hung it behind my desk, with help of books to not let it fall.

‘Alpha!’ Noah opened the door and entered; I nodded firmly and pointed toward the chair for him to sit down. Just like that Margaret entered accompanied by her few teammates, others were exploring the pack, and I was okay with it. It was anyways the meeting between seniors.

‘Where’s Luna?’ Noah asked worried, noticing her absence. I was waiting for her too, once she arrives, I will begin the meeting, meanwhile everyone had confused expressions on their faces, and eyes glued to map, trying to make connection between the circles I have marked.

‘Here I am’ she said while closing the door behind her. My eyes scanning her head to toe. She was wearing violet high neck and long white skirt. I smirked when our eyes met, she instantly switched her gaze turning red. Yesterday, the kiss we shared was a pure bliss, we escalated a bit and I happened to give her hickeys on neck before I realized that it could lead us towards mating and I stopped.

I know she was hurt, I could see it in her eyes, but she still smiled and cupped my face.

‘No problem, it can wait’ I am damn lucky to have such a wonderful mate, she isn’t just beautiful but supportive. My eyes drifted to her neck, which she had covered. She glared at me and went to sit with her aunt. Since we had marked each other, I could feel her emotions and can tell, she was happy, flying in sky.

‘Alpha?’ Ethan cleared his throat to grab my attention.

‘Oh, yeah, so everyone is here’ I asked and Noah replied with teasing tone, hinting towards Lilith.

‘Yes, everyone is here’ his emphasis on everyone while looking at Lilith made me to glare at him. He was teasing me. His Alpha?

‘Good’ putting the matter to deal with him later, I walked and stood in the middle of the room.

‘Before I start what is this behind me, let me brief you all with what had happened in our pack last few days.’

‘We were attacked my rogues very first time when we were coming back to our pack with Lilith, next one of our pups was attacked by silver, next day, rogues crossed our border to attack and thanks to Lilith and Irene, the matter was handled swiftly without any big loss. In between that we were monitored by rogues and that’s how Ethan found his mate, than Harper was kidnapped by them and we tried to sent a message to their leaders, however, till now we were just working on rogues and had to worry about them, but yesterday, where we found Lilith unconscious was because she saw the witches in our pack, although that border is too far and very least used but that is part of our pack.’ I sighed and paused.

Everyone in the room gasped and gave Lilith a concerned look, her aunt scolding her for being careless.

‘It doesn’t stop here’ my words shut their lips, as they’re gaze fall on me.

‘Witches have successfully invaded our packhouse.’ Another loud gasp.

‘Remember the letter, found at my office floor, it was witches doing.’ Ethan and Noah exchanged glances.

‘You saw them?’ I shook my head.

‘Margaret has witch in her team, she informed’ eyes moved to Margaret who was nodding her head and telling them what that little witch has tell her.

‘Speaking of it, she isn’t here, can you call her? I want to meet,’ Margaret nodded and asked one of her kids to go and find her.

‘That’s too much to process,’ Ethan muttered.

‘Yup, now we don’t have only rogues to tackle, but witches as well. I have my assumption that they have big agenda and might be working together to achieve that and we have to get to them before they step on their first success’

‘But why witches are here, don’t they know they had breached the contract?’ Noah asked, not pleased with our slow and their fast progress.

‘They’ve got brave, and it would only be possible if someone has assured them of no consequences of breaching it’

‘Makes sense,” Ethan commented.

‘What is this map for?’ Lilith asked and I turned to look at the map, my gaze intensified.

‘From today onwards, we will find them’ I walked towards the map and then spun to face them.

‘How?’

I pressed my hand on the map.

‘Trace them’ I sighed and tried to explain.

‘Keep focused on the map, while I explain to you all.’ I picked the marker and made box over a plain area which was South Hills Pack in the past.

‘This was South Hills Pack before attacked and swiped, and this is our pack, Creek Star Pack.’ I made another box on our location.

‘And from here, the route to all other packs in north begin, which means, these two packs acted as the gateway to north region’ I paused to see if they understood.

‘Do you mean to say, the reason they killed South Hills Pack members and are now targeting us is because we are barrier for to north.’ Ethan shared his understanding which was totally correct, I also presume that.

‘Yes’

‘And what about all these circles?’ Noah asked, I turned and looked at the black outlines I had made and then turned to look at Margaret.

‘She shared some data with me, which really made me suspicious, and, in my opinion, it could become our lead towards getting to Rogues leader. We had to get our hands to rogues leader, he is the one, who is planning and controlling other rogues and witches.’

“Okay,” they murmured.

‘Now, these are packs, which are relate ably small packs compared to ours, but they have one similar thing, or you can say, same thing happened in them, with the difference of a year, two years or few months.’ I paused.

‘Their Alpha’s died mysteriously and council appointed their betas to be the next Alpha and since then no harm caused to those Alphas.’

‘Beta’s betrayed their Alpha?’ Ethan was shocked.

‘Yes, they betrayed, but my assessment is, they didn’t betray with their own will, perhaps they were persuaded to do that’ as I was sharing the details, a picture was forming in our mind, and I could link now to the situation where we were standing.

‘Wait, what is the role of witches here than? Or it is the new alliance they have made with them’ for first time Hazel participated and I appreciated.

‘This is our job to find out’

‘What is the plan, Alpha?’ Noah and Ethan stood abruptly, ready to begin the mission, I am proud of my buddies, they never disappoint me.
