Chapter 61

Adrian

“Mason Who is she?”

“She’s a fucking evil and conniving bitch. Sorry, Mr. Wolfe.” He said, looking at the old man.

“Oh, please.” Cassidy said

“Lee knows who she is. Ray, remember when you met me, I was dealing with a problem.” He asked, looking at Rayna.

“Yes.” She replied.

“Well, this evil bitch was the source. What does she do? Dates me, then tried to fucking kill me; when that didn’t work, said I fucking assaulted her, and to top it all fucking off, she emptied my bank account.” Mason yelled.

Rayna

“Ahh, so you were the source of his misery and my sleepless nights? Always calling me, telling me to leave your man alone.”

I looked at Adrian. “When I joined the gym, Lee and the others became like brothers, and back then I was still eighteen, so the only place you saw me and all of them was at the gym. She called me every single day, telling me I was screwing Mason.”

“She did that shit? I wouldn’t put it past her.” Mason said.

“She did. Ray told me but didn’t tell you because she didn’t want to add to your problems.” Lee said

“This girl is fucking insane. She even got me arrested for domestic violence, and on top of that, she got me fired, telling my boss that I was abusive and attempted to murder her. That’s when I decided to start the business and learned coding,” Mason said.

I turned and saw Mira coming down the stairs. She hurried over to Mira and grabbed her hands.

“Mira You can’t believe what he’s saying, do you?” She asked hopefully.

“What was your intention?” Mira asked her.

“What... what are you talking about?” She asked, confused.

Mira pulled away from her and walked over and stood beside Adrian. “I know you’re not really interested in me; you’re interested in Adrian, but guess what? You never stood a chance. Deal with this, Adrian. And Cassidy I don’t even know if that’s your real name or not, but you’ll regret fucking with me.” Mira said, walking away.

“Cassidy isn’t her name; her name is Kathleen Cole.” Mason said

I turned and looked at her. “Now you have two options. Option A: Start talking, and I mean everything, or Option B: Do it the hard way.”

“Screw you, bitch.” She yelled, turning to walk out, but stopped because Armin and Rob were blocking her.

“I’ll go join the Tea Party,” Grandfather said, standing up and walking out.

“Wait for me.” Lee said, "Follow him," and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Vanessa?”

“Yes, Mrs. Wolfe?”

“Kindly go to our room and into the closet; you’ll see my blue bag. You know which one?

“Yes, Mrs. Wolfe.” She said, "Heading out and up the stairs."

“What are you doing?” Cassidy or Katheen, whatever her name was, asked. Adrian walked over and took a seat; so did Mason.

“That is the difference between my wife and other women. My wife doesn’t mind getting her hands dirty; she isn’t scared of anyone or anything, not even me, and when someone fucks with our family, you can be sure that she will be behind you holding a knife, ready to get revenge.” Adrian said

“Mrs. Wolfe. Here you go. Dinner is in one hour.” Vanessa said, handing me the bag.

“Thank you, Vanessa.”

I looked at the imposter. “Last chance?”

She remained quiet.

“Armin, Rob, hold her up.”

Armin and Rob grabbed her by her hands and held her; she tried kicking and screaming. I opened the bag and pulled the satchel out and looked at her. When she saw the needles, her eyes went wide.

“Don’t worry, Mason. I won’t kill her, yet.”

“I really don’t care if she’s dead or not, Ray.” Mason said

I walked over to her with the needle, and she began screaming and trying to pull away.

“Now you can die if you do that. I need you to hold still.”

“What the fuck are you doing?” She yelled.

“Well,” I said, raising one of the needles up to her eyes. “When this is inserted into a particular point of your neck, it will automatically make all the blood rush to your head, and then it stays there because there is nowhere for it to go, and after two minutes, if I don’t remove the needle, then the blood will start coming out through the eyes, nose, and ears.” I said, smiling.

“I’ll talk, I’ll talk.” She said

“Start.”

“Ian, Ian paid me.”

“What?” Adrian asked

“Ian came to me. One year ago, I was working in a restaurant in Greendale when he came in. offered me two hundred grand to get close to you.” She said, nodding towards Adrian.

“I tried but couldn’t get close to you,” he told me. Mira. Mira was the only one close to you, so I pretended to be a lesbian and be interested in her. She was hesitant to introduce me to you, so I waited. Ian wanted me to be with you so he could have control over the Wolfe family.” She said.

“Would you have hurt my daughter?” I asked

“Yes, Ian wanted me to get her so Adrian would do what he wanted him to do.” She said

“Get the police.” Mason said

“Adrian, handle this. I need to make a call.”

I headed into his office and opened my laptop. I plugged in the flash drives that I took from Camry’s room. There were pictures of Sandy and Missy. In one video they were drinking, and in another they were in a room and a girl was on the floor. She had blood on her face and hands.

I didn’t bother looking at all of them. I wiped them out and found an envelope and put them inside.

I headed back out and found Rob. I handed it to him.

“Make sure Warren from the Times gets this.” I said, and he nodded; he knew what to do.

At the same time, the police walked in. Adrian stood up and walked over to them and began explaining what happened. They took her out in handcuffs.

During dinner everyone was their normal self. Grandfather was telling Lee a story about a fishing trip, his voice low and rumbling. Mira was on her phone, probably texting her friends, looking completely unfazed by the confrontation. Adrian was deep in conversation with Zaya about something or other, his hand resting on my knee under the table, a comforting weight. Mason was eating with gusto, as if chasing down his had worked up an appetite. The aunts and uncle are having their normal conversations. I just shook my head.

After dinner Mason went off to play with Zaya, saying he missed her, and I headed to Adrian’s office. I was there for five minutes when the door opened and he came in. He leaned against the door and stooped, looking at me.

I I didn’t look away; I was still focused on the laptop. “I can feel you staring at me, Adrian.”

“That’s good, love.” He said, "Still not moving."

“What is it?”

“Would you have done it? You wouldn’t have actually done that, would you, Rayna?” He asked

I looked up at him, raising an eyebrow. “What do you think?”

He walked to me, pulling me from the chair, and sat down, pulling me onto his lap. “You have a lot in you, love. You’re good. You’re protective, you’re scary, you’re a lot of things, Rayan. But you’re not a murderer.” He said

I let out a sigh. “She hurt Mira because Ian paid her to; she would have hurt Zaya too. She ruined Mason’s life. Because she could.

“You’ll handle it,” he said, squeezing my hips.
