Chapter 25: The End of Everything

Lucy POV:

Sometimes, in our life, we do the things we didn't wish to do. Sometimes, we tend to hurt our friends, loved ones, and even the person closest to our hearts. Sometimes, we didn't know that we almost forgot to put our deepest gratitude to the one highest to us, our protector, and our maker, the Almighty God. Sometimes, we seek revenge on those who hurt us, and sometimes we didn't resent the thing we do wrong but are you happy living like that?

I thought putting them in prison or making them pay for their sins was enough, but it wasn't. People with a dark and stone heart don't know how to forgive, how to love, or how to do good deeds. Their heart was filled with evil power and Cassandra and Val had it.

I and Kent just received a call from Detective Riley this time because Detective Morgan is out of town. He told us the bad news about Val and Cassandra escaping jail. Another bad news for my husband Kent is that he got a call from his stepbrother Gale that their dad has another case again. He was convicted of a crime he didn't commit. The worst part was, he attempted to kill Eloisa's dad.

I went inside my son's room to check him. After dinner, Austin excuses herself that he will climb upstairs to take a rest. His new nanny took a vacation so I will be in charge of taking care of my son especially in taking his vitamins.

I forgot to offer him his daily vitamins so I told Kent to go ahead without me because Austin was alone, and I know my husband will handle it.

While on my way upstairs, I heard a scream and I don't know if I heard it wrong and it was just my imagination but when I reached his room, I almost fainted to find out that it's widely opened and when I check my son Inside, he wasn't there anymore.

"Austin? Baby where are you?” I called him but he's not answering.

I check his bathroom but he's not there too.

"Oh Lord, not again!” I said until my eyes shifted to his window and it's open.

"Shit! They took my baby! Help! Help!" she cried out.

Her hands trembled while getting her phone from her pocket. She first called her husband Kent and the police.

" What happened? Who took our son?” Kent asked her. He was inside the police station with Gale and Eloisa.

Lucy can't think well and even her voice trembled every time she speaks.

"I don't know! Maybe Cassandra and Val again. They got escape right. Please tell the police to find out son. I need you here. " Lucy said to Kent.

"Okay, honey. Wait for me there. I will tell Gale to process dad's case. Don't panic, we will find them, and I will make sure that I will take them back to prison, dead or alive,” he said, and Lucy quickly hangs up.

While waiting for her husband, she found a white envelope on his son's bed. She took it and it's a letter from the kidnapper. Lucy opens and reads it.

It's from Cassandra. Anger came on her face the moment she saw the letter.

This was written in the letter.

My beloved friend Lucy,

I know you're now crumbling fear once you read this letter. Anyway, I just want you to know that Austin is now with us. Maybe when you read this, we are now hell. Don't worry, he and Kylie will now be reunited together. My dear Kylie can have a playmate after a long wait. If you will find us, hurry because the time is running.

Tik Tok!

Tik Tok!

Yours truly,

Cassandra

After reading it, Lucy crumpled the white paper and put it inside her pocket.

"How dare you do this Cassandra. This time I won't let you get away. I will follow you even in hell,” she cursed her to death.

Lucy didn't waste any time. She took her car keys made her way to the place where she and Cassandra separated ways.

"I know you will come back there, Cassandra. You can't fool me!” she said as she twisted the steering wheel tightly.

Lucy drive alone. It's almost nighttime after she arrived at the old house of Cassandra and Val. She quietly stepped down from her car while sneaking inside the old and abandoned house.

***

I looked around and saw nothing, so I quickly run to the door. I check the knob to see if it's locked, but it isn't so I made my way inside.

This is my fight, and I will end my story here. I will save my son even it will cause my life.

Kent POV:

I finally arrived at the house to pick up my wife, but I started to get panic when her car wasn't in the garage

"Shit, where did she go? I told her to wait for me?” I mumbled as I walked inside.

I was about to go when u noticed a small piece of paper on the floor. It's crumpled so I opened it and my fear gets stronger when I read the letter. It's a letter from Cassandra and Lucy accidentally drop it.

I quickly hop inside the car and drove my way to the place where I don't know where.

I decided to call her, and I feel relieved that it rings.

"Hello, honey, where are you? Don't make any mistakes. Just wait for me and I am coming," I instructed her while I'm confirming where she was.

***

He heard her voice gets weaker as something bad happened to her. Her breathing sounded heavy.

"Honey, just hurry up. They're coming. I'm at Cassandra's old house—No, let me go!!" She's screaming on the phone until another voice spoke.

"Hello, Mr. Stone. I hate people who love sneaking around. Wanna join your son and wife?” It sounded like Val's voice, and he let out huge laughter.

Kent's jaws tightened in anger.

"I will kill you and your witch wife,” he shouted, and he was about to reply when Val turned off Lucy's phone.

The only voice he heard is his wife's screaming and his son's crying.

Kent hit the steering wheel of his car over and over again. He called the police for backup.

He made his way to Lucy's location.

thirty minutes earlier...

Lucy came inside and roamed her eyes in the abandoned house when someone covered her mouth with big hands.

"Don't scream and I will kill you!” Val whispered in her ears and quickly snatched the phone in her ears.

" Honey, help!” she screams one last time while Val is talking to her husband.

Val talked to Kent and after that, he turned off Lucy's phone.

He drags Lucy inside and she saw her son Austin sitting on the chair where his body was covered with a bomb.

Austin's started crying after he saw her mom. Unfortunately, he can't even move his body because of the bombs on it.

Lucy runs to her son and her chest tightened to see her son in that condition. Lucy covered her mouth to see him. Her heart was torn into pieces to see him crying and looking for her help.

Lucy breaks but she can't be weak this time. She struggled from Val's grip, but Cassandra told her husband to let her go.

"Leave her Val. You came, my dear friend. I am proud of you that you found us but you're late. In just thirty minutes, he will explode!” she told her and burst into laughter.

"I will kill you! Don't touch my son or else you will regret this, Cassandra!” she yelled at her.

Cassandra walked closer and she cupped Lucy's face, but Lucy pushed her, and she stumbled on the floor.

"I don't have a friend like you! Both of you deserved to die and go to hell!” she said when Val hit her neck and she fainted instantly.

" Let's just kill her and her son. We don't have much time, Cassandra! We must leave this place. I told you that we don't have much time!” Val is getting impatient.

Cassandra glared at her husband.

"I know. Okay, let's get rid of them!” she said but both of them turned around where they heard several gunshots.

" Shit, it's the police! We need to hurry! We only need fifteen minutes to get out of here!” Val pulled Cassandra inside him.

***

As the gunshots showered the whole building, Cassandra and Val snuck at the back part of the building. They don't have any idea that before Lucy went to find and save Austin, she put the secret way of Cassandra's old house under Cassandra's letter.

Lucy remembered when she instructed her about her house. The sniper is waiting outside, and more than ten police officers are in a position to headshot the couple. They decided to kill them because they escape from the prison and Gifford confessed his sin after knowing that Val betrayed him. Because of that, his sentence turned into one year instead of two years.

The bomb is ticking. Kent and three police officers came inside, and his eyes widened to see his wife and son next to the bomb. He can't accept seeing his son covered with a time bomb.

"Sir, we need to get them! Hurry, my family will explode!” Kent's body is trembling.

" Lucy, Austin, hang on there. They're coming to save you!” he prayed while police officers came closer to stop the time bomb.

Kent's forehead started to sweat while looking at the time.

"Lord, save them! Please hurry! What took you so long?” he shouted at them.

" Daddy, help! I don't want to die. Save us!” Austin cried out.

"Yes, son, daddy is here! I will save you and your mommy,” he said and decided to come over, but Detective Riley pulled him.

"Sir, we don't have much time. Let them do it. Look at me. Do you trusted us?” he asked Kent while making eye contact.

He knows how Kent feels but a little faith will do.

" Okay, I trust you, sir. I will go but please save my family! I beg you sir!” he said while shaking Riley's shoulders.

Riley promised him to save them.

Ten seconds remaining but the three police officers can't locate the wire that can stop the bomb from ticking.

Ten...

Heart thumping!

Nine...

Sweats rolling!

Eight...

Seven...

Six...

Heavy breathing!

Five...

Four...

Three...

Chest tightening and Kent screaming outside.

Two...

"We got it!” one of the police officers exclaimed in happiness after they discharge the very crucial wire.

Kent quickly runs inside to check his family. He finally felt relieved to see Lucy and Austin alive. The police officers escorted them.

Kent wrapped his arms to his wife and son.

" Thanks, you're safe, honey and my big boy!” he said and kissed them both.

Lucy and Austin smiled and hug him back. While on their way out, they saw Val and Cassandra in a stretcher. They're wounded. Lucy felt relieved to know that Cassandra was alive. She thought they will do the headshot.

She walked closer to her. She wanted to slap her, but she holds her anger.

"I feel pity for you. Do you think your daughter will be happy to see her parents that turned into criminals because of revenge on her death? You're wrong. You will resent this your whole life,” she told her, and Lucy saw the teardrops beside Cassandra's eyes.

That day, Lucy felt repent in her eyes.

One month later Lucy and her family went on a vacation in El Nido Palawan after the trial of Cassandra and Val's second kidnapping attempt to their son Austin. The Supreme Court decided to charge them Reclusion Perpetua. They chose life imprisonment instead of the death penalty.

Lucy brought her dad Raphael with them. He's getting older and Lucy felt happy to see her dad's smiling for the first time.

Lucy can't ask anything anymore. God answered her prayers that she can have a happy life.

Kent wrapped his arms around her while they're waiting for the sunset.

"I hope that this is the end of everything. I will never forgive my soul when something bad happens again to you and Austin,” he whispered in her ears.

Lucy smiled and felt the warm hug of her beloved husband Kent. While both of them are dating like a newlywed couple, Lucy's phone rings.

She checks the caller, and it was Eloisa.

"Hey, where are you guys? We are waiting here!” she asked her.

" I called because I have bad news and good news,” she said while her voice sounded crack.

Lucy panics.

"Don't tell me, they escaped again?” she asked Eloisa.

"Nope. Bad news, we can't go because...the good news is I'm four months pregnant!” she said, and Lucy scolded Eloisa for making her nervous, but she’s excited because another baby is coming because she's one month pregnant too.
