DAMON

Everywhere was quiet. No single noise was heard after the gunshots, and Alice lay down there, blood sprawled around her. I clenched my eyes closed, the metallic smell filling my nostrils.

"Clean up this mess."

I said, and Andro nodded, his face pale as he stared at Alice's lifeless body.

"Yes Boss."

Carlo followed after, walking out from the warehouse, his footsteps echoing in the silence.

"Where is Marcus?"

I asked, looking around. During the clash, I had ensured my men protected him and his men, who looked like they were going to shit their pants.

"I secured an exit for them and they left unharmed."

He said, and I nodded curtly. I could see the questions in his eyes, but he remained quiet. Good. That's what I needed right now.

"And my men? Anyone whose life was lost?"

I asked, and he shook his head.

"None except Alice's."

He said, his voice devoid of any emotion, and I turned to look at him properly.

"She fucked up."

I said, looking around and touching my nose, trying to control the rage still burning in my chest.

"Fuck, fuck."

I screamed, bashing my legs against the car, not caring about any damage. The metal dented under my kicks, but it wasn't enough to release what I was feeling.

"You acted based on your emotions, for her. You are falling, Capo, and you know this is getting hotter every single day."

He said, and I shook my head. He was right about one thing – I was falling for her. But I didn't act on my emotions. Or maybe I did, but...

"She was going to be dead anyway, Carlo. Don't bash me, or judge me. I'm not in the mood for that shit."

I said, and he nodded, understanding the situation. He knows the rules. Even though he was my brother, loyalty was something I do not joke with, and I protect all my men. All of them.

"Where is Andro?"

I asked, turning to look at the warehouse where all this shit happened. The place looked like a war zone now.

"He's taking care of her, you know their relationship."

Carlo said, and I nodded, feeling a tinge of pity for Andro. I knew Andro didn't know about this shit. I knew for sure. Alice was always someone who kept things to herself, and you'd never know her next move. That was the reason Andro liked her. The mystery, the danger.

"And Ronald's men?"

I asked. The cool breeze touched me in the still night. It was fucking two AM, but it felt like the day just started. It felt like I was back in the Mafia world again, completely immersed in the darkness I'd tried to step away from.

"They aren't talking. Our men are taking care of them, and they aren't saying shit."

Carlo said, and I nodded, smiling. Ronald had turned me back into the killing machine I was, and I wouldn't mind doing that to his men. In fact, I was looking forward to it.

"Take me to them."

I said, and Carlo nodded, leading the way through the maze of corridors.

We walked to a basement. The warehouse itself was actually soundproofed – that was why the police hadn't come running their asses here. Not like I cared anyway.

Ronald's men were tied up to poles. There were about three of them, all looking beat up, like they could pass out any second from now. Injuries covered their bodies, and slashes from knives marked their skin like a twisted art piece.

"And what do we have here?"

I said, grabbing a gun from Carlo, who was reluctant at first before he handed it to me. Smart man. He knew what was coming.

"I'm not going to ask you this question again. I will repeat myself once. Where is Ronald?"

I said, each word as threatening as the last as I walked to the one in the middle. He looked worn out. I raised his chin up with my hand, forcing his eyes to meet mine, but he rewarded me with a smirk and then threw spit on my face.

"Take that, motherfucker."

He said, and I smiled, wiping the spit away slowly with a towel and flinging it out.

"Oh yeah?"

I said, and I pulled the trigger on his brain, blowing his brains out, his head dropping down from my fingers like a broken doll.

I walked to the second man. He didn't look half as bad as the first, and he looked like he'd already pissed his pants. The smell confirmed it.

"And what do we have here? I'm not repeating myself again."

I said, putting the gun on his chest, slowly rubbing the metallic weapon all over him. I watched him shiver at my single movements, his breath coming in short gasps.

"I said, where the fuck is he?"

I said, slowly pulling the trigger, ensuring he felt every inch of the pressure building.

"I swear to you, I don't know where he is. He... he... we... received messages from Alice, orders from her and then from Ronald. I swear, I don't know his location."

He said, trembling under my touch. I slowly pushed the gun to his balls, and he shook harder, his face sweating more than before.

"So how were you going to report to him if your raid were to be successful?"

I asked, and he froze. That gave me all I needed, and I hoped he made the right decision.

"I... we... I... don't know, I swear I don't know."

He stammered, his voice filled with so much anxiety. Fuck, he made the bad mistake. I pulled the trigger on his balls, and he screamed with so much pain, his voice piercing through the basement. I shot him in his forehead next. Fuck, he was making too much noise.

When it came to protecting cupcake, I would burn down the world. Fuck my emotions for her – I wasn't going to be a weakling.

The last man was standing. He wasn't shaking like the rest. He had remained quiet throughout, and shit, I just wanted to be done with him and leave.

"I hate the number three, but you can make it worthwhile."

I said, not repeating my questions. He understood what I wanted.

"He's at a mansion on Houston Street, last we checked. That was where we were to report to."

He said, eyes not moving, just his mouth moving with the information I craved.

"What mansion?"

I said, and he looked at me, eyeball to eyeball, no fear in his gaze yet.

"Fifty-Six Houston Street... that is the mansion address."

He said, and I nodded. That came faster than I expected. Too easy, maybe.

"Good. Andro, take care of him."

I said, leaving the basement, my footsteps echoing in the concrete space.

"Wait, wait, but I told you the truth!"

He cried out, now fear evident in his eyes, his voice cracking with desperation.

I turned to look at him, studying his face one last time.

"You fucked with me first. In your next life, you shouldn't."

And I walked out from the basement, the sound of a gunshot following me.

Carlo walked beside me, matching my pace.

"You believe him?"

He asked, and I stared at him. A smile circled around the side of my mouth – not a smirk, but a genuine smile.

"No, I don't. But we're going there. Find out what Ronald is up to. At least, there should be something there, right?"

I asked, and he nodded, understanding the plan forming in my mind.

"Yes, Capo, there should be."

The hunt was just beginning.
