Chapter 83: Chapter 83: False Alarm

Lilian's POV.

His face turned pale, his eyes widening with horror, “Lilian, there's blood on the sheets.”

My heart stopped for a second, “Excuse me? How's that possh–”

I dropped my head to the sheets shocked to see the spot of the sheets that was damp. The metallic smell of blood wafted through my nostrils.

Now, what the hell was going on here?

That felt like …like period blood. But pregnant women didn't get that, did they? I questioned as I stared at the sheets.

“I–Something is wrong. I don't think this is normal,” I mumbled, slowly crawling out of the bed.

Leon quickly pulled on the sheets, “Don't worry, you can go have your bath. We'd figure things out when you're back. I'll take care of these.”

With that, I moved to the bathroom to clean myself up. My mind swirled with a lot of thoughts as I bathed.

Could it be possible that I experienced a miscarriage? I shook my head, that couldn't be. I'd heard that miscarriages were painful so there was no way I'd have felt that without experiencing pain.

But if that was the case, how come I still had my period? Something was wrong somewhere and I was going to find that out.

Leon and I later went to a nearby hospital to figure out things ourselves. We'd told Cole that I was going to speak with the father of my child so he didn't feel the need to follow him.

We were currently outside the doctor's office, waiting for the reports. However, neither of us were calm.

Leon paced back and forth in the white-painted passgeway, while I involuntarily shook my legs, the smell of antiseptic and pills threatening to make me throw up.

After a couple of minutes, the door to the doctor's office swung open. The nurse glanced over to me, “The reports are ready.”

I rose and Leon stopped pacing as he took my seat on the waiting chair. I walked into the doctor’s office, taking careful steps as I approached his table.

He was swinging from side to side but when he spotted me coming, he stopped, leaning forward. I dropped my weight into one of his chairs before he even asked.

“Wha–what do the reports say?”

“Well, Miss. There's no need to worry. Your hormones just went on an abnormal release rate, altering a lot of things in your system. This is what caused the pregnancy symptoms,” the doctor explained, his words sending a strange rush of relief pulsing through me.

“So…so I'm not pregnant?” I asked, wanting to be sure.

“Yes miss Lilian. Here are the reports, you can go through them by yourself,” he said in a crisp tone, handing the file over to me.

My insides welled up with so much joy that I couldn't help myself from grinning really hard. My shaky hands grazed over the file, checking the pregnancy status.

“NEGATIVE”

That word had never felt so good more than it did today.

My eyes lifted back to the doctor, “but doctor, I was told that I was pregnant. Is it possible that the previous doctor wasn't accurate with his examination?”

The doctor nodded, “Exactly.”

“Wow. Thank you so much doc,” I briefly thanked the doctor, heading out of his office.

When I'd walked into this hospital, I'd felt so hesvy with the burden of a life inside me. I felt like my world was collapsing right before my eyes. But right now it felt like life had given me another chance, I felt so alive, and so light.

“What are you smiling about? What did the reports say” Leon's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

My smile increased as I handed him the papers, waiting for his reaction. His fingers flipped through it swiftly and then he paused.

His gaze alternated between the file and my face, a wave of relief coursing through his features. He hugged me tightly without warning, “Oh thank God!” He exclaimed, clinging tightly onto my body.

I broke the hug, sighing heavily, “Honestly? That was scary.”

“Tell me about it,” Leon smiled for the first time in seven hours.

We headed home right after, feeling even better that we had another chance.

Cole was equally happy to know that I wasn't pregnant, he'd even got drinks and snacks to celebrate the news.

But he didn't stop teasing me.

“A woman's body is so complicated because how the fuck can you give yourself a pregnancy scare?” he teased, making slurps as he drank from his glass.

“You've said that five times already. Talk about something else,”

“Oh? Should I remind you of how you reacted when you found out about being pregnant? You looked like you were about to lose your mind!” Cole teased, picking a slice of pizza.

Of course I was losing my mind. I couldn't even do anything properly. Who wouldn't be scared about the news of a baby, especially when my mother was so big on morals and all?

I was just glad that it was over and there was nothing to worry about.

“Cole, that's enough teasing for one night. Let her bw already,” Leon said.

“Thank you!” I replied, shaking my head at Cole.

Cole rolled his eyes, taking a small bite of the pizza in his hand,”Leon, you support Lilian these days a little too much. It's starting to feel like you don't recognize me anymore. Tell me, what does Lilian do to you that I don't?”

The room went silent immediately after that question.
