Chapter 1256
Soon, a flurry of footsteps echoed as Sylvia rushed in with a few nurses.
As they entered, they saw the President's once pale face now flushed red, his blood pressure skyrocketing, and the machines beeping incessantly.
It was clear he was severely agitated.
Sylvia hurried to the bedside to assess his condition. Before she could examine his wound, she heard Queena exclaim, "Sylvia, he's bleeding! His wound seems to have reopened!"
Sylvia immediately checked the President's wound and found it indeed seeping blood. The stitches had come apart, and fresh blood was oozing out, presenting a shocking sight.
"The dressing was just changed this morning and everything seemed fine. How did it end up like this?" Sylvia frowned and instructed the nurses to perform emergency care and treat the wound.
Once everything was settled, the President's agitated breathing gradually calmed. Sylvia looked at him helplessly, "You're the patient; why are you so irritable? What upset you?"
The President was so angry that he blacked out. The pain from the wound during the dressing change had been unbearable, and he was terrified.
He feared he might suddenly meet his end, holding on with sheer willpower.
Now that his will faltered, his frail body couldn't withstand it.
Sylvia watched him close his eyes and could only sigh helplessly, turning her gaze to the elderly Hipps couple.
"Grandfather, Grandmother, just now there were only you two and some relatives in the room. Did you say something to upset him?"
Queena said, puzzled, "I don't know! I just told him we're planning a party to recognize Alex, and he won't be able to attend. If we recognize Alex, Franklin would be Alex's godfather, making him Alex's god-grandfather."
Mr. Hipps was still shaken, "I don't know why he suddenly got so agitated, his face red and neck bulging. We were scared to death! So we quickly called you over."
If they had really angered the President to death... they couldn't bear such a charge!
"That's just ordinary talk; what's there to be angry about?" Sylvia also found it puzzling, not knowing what had triggered the President's intense reaction. "Alright, he's asleep again. You should go back for now and visit another day."
"Alright then, let's all leave." With that, the elderly couple led several relatives from the Hipps Family away in a grand procession.
After seeing them off, Sylvia returned to her office. It was strange why he became so agitated upon hearing about Alex.
Why hadn't Franklin ever mentioned what happened on the day the President was hospitalized?
Could it be related to Alex?
Given the old man's personality, he probably looked down on Alex completely.
Was that why Franklin argued with him?
Sylvia sat there speculating silently. The more she thought about it, the more she felt her guess was correct.
Otherwise, the President wouldn't have been so agitated.
Thinking of this, she called Franklin. The call was quickly answered, and a man's magnetic voice came through, "Hello, what's up? Miss me?"
"Stop joking around; I have something to ask you." Sylvia then voiced her doubts.
After listening, Franklin was silent for a moment. "I wasn't planning to tell you, but since my wife is so smart and wise, I'll tell you. You're right. He doesn't like Alex and thinks Alex's background is unworthy of being my godson. If I really want to recognize someone, he can find a child from a prestigious family."
He didn't mention the President's insults towards Alex and himself.
It wasn't that he wasn't being honest with Sylvia; it was just unnecessary to make Sylvia angry too. He didn't want Sylvia losing sleep over the President's anger.
It wasn't worth it; it really wasn't worth it.
"No wonder Grandmother and Grandfather mentioned Alex today, and he got so angry his wound reopened. The old man still has such a bad temper; just mentioning it makes him furious." Sylvia understood the situation but didn't dwell on it. "I know now; whether he agrees or not, Alex will be recognized."
"Everything is up to my wife," Franklin nodded. "Shall we take the kid out for dinner tonight? He's been wanting to try the pineapple pie and red bean pie at the family restaurant."
"Sure! Let's do it after I get off work." Sylvia agreed with Franklin and happily ended the call.
In the afternoon, the President regained consciousness again, but Sylvia didn't visit him.
The children of those prestigious families had already arranged shifts to stay by his side as caregivers.
Each one eager to perform well at this time so that the President would remember how well they behaved and later help their families.
After work, Sylvia prepared to head to the parking lot to drive home when she received a call from Franklin right on time. "I'm at the hospital entrance with our child; come out."
Sylvia blinked her long eyelashes. "You drove over?"
"Of course, how could I not be punctual in picking up my wife from work?" Franklin chuckled softly. "We're waiting for you."
With that, he hung up.
Sylvia shook her head with a smile. If she hadn't taken on the President's surgery, she wouldn't have been working at the hospital.
As she reached the hospital entrance, she saw a low-profile black car parked by the roadside. Sylvia walked over and got in. As soon as she did, she noticed several young men from prestigious families approaching; they had spotted Franklin's car from afar.
They rushed over quickly, nodding and bowing as they greeted Franklin.
"Franklin, you're free today to pick up Dr. Sylvia from work?"
"Wow, thanks to Dr. Sylvia for saving the President this time!"
"And you even donated blood for the President; we're all impressed!"
After listening to such flattery for a while, Franklin's ears began to ache; he hated hearing these insincere compliments.
But these people loved saying them, thinking he enjoyed hearing them.
"Alex, you must never become such a person who only knows how to curry favor. Understand?" Sylvia quickly reminded her child lest he learned from them.
The little guy nodded emphatically. "It's wrong to learn from them."
The family soon arrived at the family restaurant.
The restaurant not only had a playground but also an animal park, making Alex very happy.
He played until mealtime before reluctantly sitting down at the table to eat.
"The family meal set here is pretty good; I ordered their signature family meal for three," Sylvia said to Franklin after ordering. "I just hope you like it."
She hadn't forgotten how picky this man's taste could be.
As they spoke, Alex suddenly shouted, "Jaime!"
Sylvia looked up and saw Evie entering with little Jaime into the family restaurant.
She immediately waved at them. "Evie, over here!"
Evie hadn't expected to run into their family. "What a coincidence!"
Sylvia pointed to an empty seat beside them. "Come sit down; I'll order you something. Jaime, what would you like? How about this big and small double meal?"
Jaime nodded. "I like it! I just told Mom I wanted her to buy it for me!"
Sylvia pinched his cheek gently. "Good boy, Auntie will treat you."
Evie quickly said, "Boss lady, no need; I can handle it."
"When you're out with me for fun, there's no reason for you to pay," Sylvia smiled as she proceeded with payment.
After dinner, the two little ones played together in the playground again; their laughter echoed from the play area above.
Sylvia took a sip of water as she watched the two kids bouncing around on top of the play area.
The three parents sat in a waiting area nearby, not only them but other parents too were present there.
Some parents recognized their identities and even boldly took photos secretly.
The owner of the family restaurant also heard about this news and rushed over from another branch enthusiastically asking for photos with Franklin and Sylvia.
"I heard that hotpot place you visited last time is doing great business now. Can I hang our photo high up in my store?" The owner thought about attracting customers shamelessly saying, "Rest assured your child and Jasper's child will have free entry forever as long as my store exists."
Saying so he handed over two diamond cards through staff members: "Here kids take these cards, forever free."
Just having Sylvia's influence alongside Franklin would ensure thriving business for his establishment
"You can use us for promotion but…" Sylvia sized up owner before continuing: "I hope you agree on one thing."
"Please do tell." The owner eagerly awaited Sylvia's request: "Anything within my capability shall be done."
"Sponsor one underprivileged child's education per year." Sylvia smiled while opening Keturah Philanthropic Foundation app: "Here let's sign an electronic agreement."
The owner hadn't expected such benevolence request-to do good deeds
Evie chimed in: "Sponsoring one child's education isn't much, just equivalent cost of two-three customers dining here."
The owner's children attended private schools with exorbitant fees
Realizing sponsored children attended public schools which charged minimal fees
He readily agreed: "Sure, I'll sign right now."
Electronic agreements were swiftly signed-uploaded by Sylvia for foundation colleagues' review
This scene happened captured by other parents secretly photographing
Then uploaded online
"Franklin & Dr. Sylvia doing good deeds again, encouraging others too, I've decided sponsor one underprivileged child this year!" This parent posted such message on short video social platform
Upon posting immediate friends relatives began sharing liking commenting
"Wow really? Sponsoring? Your company earns millions annually, sponsoring one child isn't much, you could sponsor ten!"
"I'm inspired by you."
He cheerfully replied, "Not inspired by me, inspired by Franklin & Dr. Sylvia."
