Chapter 582 You Are Overthinking
As Isabella made her way to the company, she strolled with her arms crossed, lost in thought, her eyes shut tight.
Jasper's offer sure sounded tempting - all he had to do was make a statement, and poof, problems solved.
But Isabella had bigger fish to fry. Was Bianca sitting on more evidence?
Would Bianca drop a bombshell of evidence after Jasper's statement?
If the public bought into Bianca's evidence, Jasper's online spiel would be a joke. And Isabella would be caught in the crossfire of mockery.
And there was more on Isabella's plate. Jasper claimed Patrick swapped the child because of its deformity, to keep up appearances - having a deformed heir in a high-profile family was a no-go.
But Isabella had her doubts. Why was Mia's fetus diagnosed at nine months? Why not earlier? And where did the real fetus of the swapped child go? Was the Number 0 Serum given to that deformed fetus? Was it cured?
These mysteries clouded Isabella's mind like a thick fog, with Patrick at the center. The once kind and gentle old man now sent shivers down her spine, a mystery she couldn't unravel.
Isabella couldn't shake off Michael's warning. The real 'Isabella' might be lurking in the shadows, waiting for Isabella to clean up the mess before swooping in to claim everything she had built.
"What's your game, Grandpa? Am I just a pawn in your hands, waiting to be tossed aside?" Isabella mumbled, a tinge of sadness in her eyes, hoping her suspicions were baseless.
Just then, Isabella's phone buzzed in her pocket, a call from Juliet.
"Ms. Taylor, your sister Bianca is here with a bunch of reporters blocking the company entrance. Carol even escorted her to the office."
Isabella's face remained stoic upon hearing the news. She knew Bianca would make an appearance sooner or later.
"Got it. Tell her to wait in the office, I'll be there soon," Isabella replied before ending the call.
In the office, Juliet glanced at the phone, confusion clouding her eyes.
"What did Ms. Taylor say?" a curious colleague inquired.
Juliet shook her head. "She said she's got it under control, but she sounded calm, like she had a plan."
The colleagues grew curious, sneaking a peek through the CEO's office door, spotting Bianca seated as if she owned the place.
Ten minutes later, Isabella's car pulled up in front of the company building.
Reporters who had been camping outside swarmed her, thrusting microphones in her face.
"Ms. Taylor, are you really not Jasper and Mia's daughter?"
"If you're not blood-related, do you even have a claim to this family's fortune?"
"What's next for you, Ms. Taylor?"
The reporters bombarded Isabella with questions, but her bodyguards kept them at bay.
Isabella's stride remained steady. Just as she reached the company's entrance, she halted abruptly.
When Isabella turned back, the reporters assumed the show was over. But she flashed a confident smile at them. "What's mine, no one can snatch away," she declared before striding into the elevator.
The reporters scrambled to snap photos of her poised demeanor, anticipating a headline-worthy moment.
Isabella rode the elevator straight to the CEO's office floor.
Outside the office, a group of employees gathered, their expressions a mix of emotions upon seeing Isabella.
Isabella furrowed her brow at them. "Isn't it time to call it a day? Why are you all still hanging around?"
The employees felt awkward, torn between curiosity and duty.
Isabella chuckled, teasingly adding, "If you're not keen on leaving, feel free to stick around, but just so you know, no overtime pay on the table."
Isabella lightened the mood with a joke before pushing open the office door and stepping inside.
The employees exchanged puzzled glances, wondering if the situation was less dire than they had assumed.
'Could Bianca's claims be false? Is Isabella truly Jasper and Mia's biological daughter?'
Inside the office, Isabella found Bianca lounging in her chair.
Bianca reclined comfortably, greeting Isabella. "Long time no see, Isabella. Your chair is surprisingly cozy."
Isabella approached the desk, pausing to look at Bianca with a smirk. "Heard about your miscarriage. Tough break. You were so cautious during your pregnancy, fearing any mishaps. Who knew all that vigilance would end in a virus-induced miscarriage. Must sting, losing control over John," Isabella needled, aiming to provoke Bianca.
Bianca's eye twitched. Isabella's words cut deep. Bianca shot Isabella a cold glare.
"You're still as vile as ever! I may have lost a child, but I gained a family! Thanks for working so hard to pave my way to the top. But fret not, once I'm CEO, I'll find a spot for you. How about being my assistant? You can fetch my coffee," Bianca sneered.
A flicker of anger flashed across Isabella's face. She scanned the room, noticing Carol's absence. Wasn't Carol supposed to escort Bianca in?
"Looking for Carol? She's already agreed to lead the loyal Taylor Family employees to my side. Blame your lack of blue blood," Bianca boasted, convinced she held all the cards.
But then, a voice interrupted from the doorway. "When did I say any of that? I just thought your presence outside the building would tarnish our reputation, so I brought you in," Carol stated, entering with a folded cloth in hand.
Approaching Isabella, Carol unfolded the cloth, revealing the Taylor Group logo surrounded by employee signatures.
"All Taylor Group employees still stand by Ms. Taylor!"
