Chapter 146 You Bastard, How Could You Sleep with My Mom...?
Evelyn
“Marcus, son, please listen to me!”
“I don’t want to hear anything from you!” His voice was angry.
I grabbed his hand to make him stop. He stopped, but he didn’t look at me.
“You said you would never leave me no matter what, you promised me you wouldn’t…”
I stopped for a moment. Marcus looked at me with a mocking smile and wiped his tears.
“Is that why you kept repeating that sentence? How can you sleep with a young man, Mom? A man the same age as your son? How could you do that? Didn’t you feel sorry for me? Didn’t you think about me? He’s my fucking friend…”
I was crying as I listened to him, then I saw his eyes move toward my neck. Shame filled me before I raised my hand to cover it.
“I feel ashamed looking at your neck! His marks are all over your neck!”
I covered my neck more with my hand, feeling embarrassed.
“You didn’t think about me…”
I closed my eyes.
“Believe me, I tried. I stopped myself, but I couldn’t. It happened so fast, son, please believe me... I don’t know... I was so lonely, Marcus... I was…”
He cut me off.
“I don’t believe this, Mom! Are you trying to justify yourself to me now?”
I shook my head while crying. “I don’t know what to say…”
“Doesn’t your mother have the right to love? Why do you see this as something strange? Is it because of the age difference? Love has no specific age, Mr. Marcus! It simply has no rules!” Adrian’s voice came from behind us.
I closed my eyes. I didn’t want him to interfere.
Marcus turned toward him angrily.
“How can you still look into my eyes, you bastard? Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?”
I looked at Adrian. “Adrian, please…”
I was crying, but I couldn’t stop what was happening.
“And why should I feel ashamed? I lo…”
He didn’t finish his sentence. Marcus lunged at him and grabbed his shirt.
I screamed as I tried to stop him.
“How can you love my mom?” Marcus shouted.
I tried to pull his hands away from Adrian.
“Please let him go, please!”
His anger was stronger than me.
“You bastard, how could you sleep with my mom... Huh?”
He raised his fist and hit Adrian hard.
I gasped in shock. I had never seen Marcus this angry before.
“How could you kiss my mom? Huh?”
He hit him again. Adrian fell to the ground. Blood was coming from his nose, and his face was pale. He seemed badly affected by the hit, since he was already in bad condition.
Fear filled me.
“Adrian!”
I ran to him, sat beside him, and held his bleeding face.
“Adrian, are you okay?”
His eyes were closed, as if he couldn’t hear me.
“Adrian?”
I called his name while crying. After a few moments, he blinked several times and looked at me. I saw the concern in his eyes despite his condition.
“I’m fine! Don’t cry…”
My tears fell harder. Marcus was looking at us angrily.
“How could I not know? Dad warned me about you, how did I not know...?”
I raised my eyes to him. “Marcus, please calm down... calm down!”
I helped Adrian stand. Marcus’s next words made me freeze.
“How do you expect me to calm down when you act like a whore?”
It felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest. I couldn’t think.
For a moment, I remembered the nightmare I had seen at the hotel.
The words, the insults, the way Marcus looked at me.
Everything was happening before my eyes.
I stepped toward him, staring at him in shock. Adrian was barely holding himself back, and he didn’t want to smash Marcus’s face in front of me.
“You…”
Marcus didn’t finish his words.
I raised my hand and slapped him hard.
Everything stopped for a moment. This was the first time I had ever insulted Marcus, and the first time I had ever raised my hand against him.
Shock covered his face. He held his cheek, which had turned red, and looked at me as if he had never expected that from me.
“You are not the son I raised!” The words left me while I was in shock.
Marcus looked at me angrily. “And you’re no longer my mother, Mrs. Carter!”
It felt like daggers had been driven into my heart.
I was crying. I had expected him to say it one day, but hearing it from him was something completely different.
“Thank you for this, Marcus…”
I looked straight into his eyes. I saw tension pass through his eyes for a moment, as if he realized what he had said.
“Thank you so much for this…”
I was crying, Adrian standing behind me.
“You raised your hand against me for Adrian?”
Marcus was crying. “You... you hit me for someone you’ve only known for a short time, Mom…”
He wiped his tears, but they continued to fall.
“Even I thank you for this…”
I looked at him while crying. “I’m your mother, Marcus... You have no right to insult me... You... you killed me just now…”
My heart was broken.
He looked at me while crying. “What about me? What about me, Mom?”
I didn’t know how to answer him.
“Why did you do this, Mom? Why the hell did you destroy our world? Why?”
I saw my son standing before me, crying hard. Despite everything he had said, despite everything he had done, I couldn’t stop seeing him as my child.
My heart softened toward him. I gave him a small, sad smile.
“You’re right, Marcus... I just…”
My voice choked from how hard I was crying. “I was just... so lonely…”
He kept looking at me.
“Mom, I understand that you want to live your life, I’m with you... but not with Adrian, Mom! He... he’s fucking twenty years old... He’s my friend…”
I looked at him, feeling the weight of every word he said. He was right about at least one thing.
This was hard for him.
But I couldn’t lie about what I felt.
“I... I don’t regret it, Marcus... I don’t regret this…”
The words came out of me with difficulty. He looked at me while crying, as if he didn’t understand what had happened to the mother he knew.
As for Adrian, he was behind me, and I felt the shock in his gaze. Maybe he had expected me to regret it, but I didn’t. I didn’t like Adrian seeing me like this, broken and lost, so he held my hand.
I didn’t speak. I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know what would happen after this.
Marcus looked at him. “Adrian, you’ll pay the price. Just wait!”
Adrian looked at him angrily. “Are you threatening me?”
Marcus rushed toward him again. I moved quickly and stood between them.
“And what will you do if I threaten you? You were just a homeless man. I fed you and gave you a place to stay... Is this how you repay me? Huh?” Marcus shouted.
Adrian smiled mockingly. “Do you know who I am, or are you just talking?”
“You’re just a beggar I took pity on, Adrian... That’s what I know!” Marcus said angrily.
I was crying as I stood between them.
“Stay away from each other, please…”
“Mom, move away…” Marcus said angrily.
“Marcus, calm down…”
“What are you going to do, then? Show me!” Adrian shouted.
I was in the middle, and all I wanted was for them to stop.
“Please calm down...” I said while crying.
“I told you to move away!” Marcus shouted.
Before I could understand what was happening, he pushed me hard. I gasped, lost my balance, and fell to the ground.
I had no time to protect myself. My head hit a large rock among the rocks scattered across the seashore.
A sharp pain exploded in my head. I put my hand on my head, and when I looked at it, I saw blood.
Everything was spinning around me. My body felt weak, and I could no longer understand what was happening around me.
