Chapter 125

Autumn's POV

When I went back to the room, I found Dante sitting on the bed waiting for me. I thought he would really have been asleep by the time I got back but he waited for me? I don't know if I should be impressed by him because he did that for me but there's nothing to be impressed about.

“I got you something you could eat. I don't know if you're going to like it much but that's all I saw there.” I said to him.

He nodded, “It's completely fine, anything you give me is good.“

Where the hell is he giving me cheesy lines? He looked like he was very satisfied with missing up with me. Just didn't want to argue with him, he saved me after all. He's in the hospital because of me, and I have to wait till he gets better before I take it out on him. If I don't do all of this, it's going to look like I'm ungrateful.

After I gave him his food, I turned to leave. I didn’t want to stay long because my mind was going through a lot of thoughts and I needed some air. But then his voice came from behind me, sounding weak but stubborn.

“Autumn… please stay with me a little.”

I stopped at the door. My hand was already on the handle, ready to leave, but I froze. I could hear the tone in his voice. It wasn’t just a simple request. He sounded like he was going to emotionally blackmail me if I didn't do what he wanted.

I sighed, turning back to look at him. He sat there with the food untouched, his eyes staring straight at me like I was the only reason he wanted to eat the food. Technically, I'm the reason he's here anyway.

“Fine,” I said quietly, walking back to the chair beside his bed. “But only for a while.”

He smiled faintly, almost like he was relieved. But then his face turned serious. He leaned forward a little, staring at me deeply.

“Autumn… why are you so cold to us? Why do you act like you can’t forgive us no matter what? You will always so kind and considerate with us, why won't you look at us anymore?”

I felt the anger inside me rising up the moment I heard what he said. Is he being for real? He was seriously asking me this question when he knew the answer?

“ I don't think you're seriously asking me that, are you?”

He nodded, “ I know you hate us for what happened to you before. I know we've not been exactly so good to you and we never looked at you when we were supposed to. We promised we were going to change, why won't you just give us a chance to prove it?”

“You really want to know?” I asked.

“Yes,” he whispered.

I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding. “Because I died, Dante. I died the first time, and that changed me. I came back, but not the same person. I lost everything already once. I realized I had nothing left to lose anymore. So tell me… why should I waste my time trying to please anyone when I already know what it feels like to be betrayed and to die because of it?”

His eyes widened, and he clenched his fists. “Autumn…”

I shook my head, cutting him off. “You and your brothers were never sincere with me. Don’t try to deny it. You treated me like I was nothing. Tell me the truth, Dante. If the case was reversed, if I was the one who wronged you all in that life, would you be willing to forgive me? Or would you want revenge?”

His lips trembled but he didn’t answer. He didn’t need to. I already knew what the answer was.

“Exactly,” I said coldly. “You would want revenge. You wouldn’t let me go easily. So don’t ask me to be different. I have nothing more to say.”

I stood up, ready to leave. Knowing the kind of people they were, they would have made me regret leaving the moment they open their eyes to a new life. I gave them so much time to change but they never did. They have no one else to blame but themselves for all of this.

But before I could take a step, he dropped the food and swung his legs off the bed. I froze in shock as I watched him, even though he was still weak from his injuries, push himself to the floor.

“Dante, what are you—”

He fell to his knees in front of me. His head bowed low, his hands pressed together like he was begging. Or that's what he's actually doing?

“Autumn… please. Just one last chance. Give us one more chance.” His voice shook, raw and desperate. “If we fail you again, you can do anything to us. You can hate us, destroy us. I don’t care. But please… don’t shut us out forever. Don’t let George or anyone else take you away from us.”

I stood frozen, my eyes wide, my heart pounding so hard I could hear it. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Dante, the proud Alpha who never bent his head to anyone, was on his knees in front of me. News of the century.

“Get up,” I whispered, my voice shaking. “Stop this, Dante. What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you think you're being inconsiderate?”

He lifted his head slowly, his eyes wet with unshed tears. “Not until you listen to me. Not until you believe me. I’m begging you, Autumn. I don’t care about my pride anymore. You’re more important than that.”

My hands trembled at my sides. I didn’t know what to feel. This was the first time I was actually seeing him shed tears in front of me. He was also holding unto me and refusing to let go when I tried to move away. But I can't stop myself from hating them. I shouldn't let this simple tears decide things for me.

After all, I shared more than this kind of tears in my previous life and no one cared. No one looked back to save me at the last moment, I just don't want him to embarrass me. If someone comes anything here and says this kind of thing, how would I explain myself and clear my name?

“Can you just save me the trouble and get up? You're really embarrassing me right now,” I said again, trying to break free from his grip. “You’re making a scene. Someone might come in—”

As if the universe was mocking me, the door suddenly opened. A nurse walked in with a chart in her hand. Her eyes widened when she saw Dante kneeling in front of me.

“This isn't what you think it is. It's a misunderstanding, I promise you.” I tried to explain which only made the situation seem worse.

Her mouth opened like she wanted to say something, but instead she quickly turned and rushed out, her footsteps echoing down the hall.

My heart dropped. My cheeks were flushed, it was so embarrassing.

“See what you’ve done?” I snapped at him, my face burning. “Now she thinks something ridiculous! You should be ashamed of yourself!”

But he only looked up at me with that stubborn expression of his. “I don’t care what she thinks. I only care about you.”

I turned to leave again, my patience completely gone. “I’m done. I’m not staying here any longer. I might just end up killing you if I do.”

But before I could touch the door, his hand grabbed mine. His grip was strong and desperate.

“Autumn,” he said in a hoarse whisper. “I'm sorry for what I'm about to do.”

I turned back, ready to shout at him again, but before I could even open my mouth, he pulled me closer in one swift motion and pressed his lips against mine.

My eyes went wide in shock. My breath caught in my throat. He fucking kissed me! I could hardly move as I froze when he did it and that wasn't just what happened. I tried to get myself out of it when I regained my senses but it was too late. You wouldn't let me go, and why does it feel so good?

But my subconscious brought me back to reality and I had to push him away. He didn't even flinch at all and he just kept staring at me while I touched my lips.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"
