Chapter 125

For a moment, Lucy Rose is convinced she must be hallucinating, she couldn't get Killian off her mind all morning, all thanks to Lilith who found a way to chip him into their conversation, making her worried and angry all over again about his prolonged silence and his relationship status which is now being called to question... That shouldn't be any of her business, she really came expect those a grown man like him wouldn't have a couple of love interest, expecially for one as handsome and good looking as he his, though she has nebee given it any thought until Lilith mentioned it, she's now very curious to know, curious to find out and at the same time, dreading what the truth would be, does he really have a girlfriend, is that why he sister zoned Lilith and ghosted her? She could have swore that they shared something very special in the night he took her to the road side cinema, it was supposedly a casual hangout but it self like a date, it was easy, simple and full of laughter, not once was she conscious of herself or forced to act a certsin way because it is expected and someone might be watching, it was one of the very few moments when she truly felt like herself, not an impersonator or a pretender, which is why she feels totally insecured about his refusal to reach out again afterwards, does it mean that he didn't enjoy it as much as she did? Was she truly that bad of a company that he chose to stay away rather than endure another one? There were so many questions on her mind, yet, no answers. "you need to get a grip on yourself Lucy Rose! He's nothing to you, he's a total stranger and you shouldn't concerned yourself with whatever the fuck is going on in his personal live...." She was reciting this like mantra to herself, that's all she had been doing in the last few days to constantly remind herself that she's not entitled to the anger she feels deep within her, she was so lost in her own reverie that she didn't realize she had taken the wrong direction and then ended up bumping into someome, who turned out to be him, the very object of her thoughts. While she was still pondering the coincidence in their unscheduled meeting, Killian went about gathering her bag and files that flew in different directiona.from the impact of the crash, then he came back and handed it all to her.

'Sorry about that! I should have watched where I was going...' he apologized, handing her properties back to her, Lucy Rose took them silently, she could only manage to nod in acceptance, tried as she may, she couldn't find the right words to say. 'Are your alright? I hope you didn't get injured...' so concerned, he instinctively took her by both arm, gentle yet firm, spinning are around to access for any damage, thankfully there was none, he managed to safe her before any real damage is done, only then did he breath a sigh of relief. she knows he was alone showing care and concern, still she couldn't help the tingles his touch sent down her spine, so much that she felt at a lost when realized his impulsiveness and withdrew his hands with another apology, pocketing them immediately.

'I'm okay, you caught me in time so I guess I should be saying thank you for saving me from an embarrassing fall ' she replied, smiling shyly at him, the rational part of her brains scoffs at her mockingly, almost the way Lilith would have reacted if she were aware of the entire situation, where is all the anger and annoyance she felt at his prolonged silence? Why is she now standing before him, acting all shy and civil even after he treated her so cheaply, ignoring her for days? Why is she chatting with him so casually as if nothing happened? '...What are you doing here by the way...' she continues to keep the awkwardness of their meeting at bay, taking another careful look at him, she couldn't deny the fact that he looks unconventionally good with the professional outfit, she's already so used to seeing him in jeans and jacket that she had never for once stopped to think of how he'd look in a corporate fit, however, he's definitely killing it, half the men working at NOVA can't even boast of such accomplishment, but he could have done with a little bit of colour instead of going all black as always, it was at the top of her tongue to dish out but she held herself in check, Lilith wouldn't have thought twice if she were in her shoes, but Lucy Rose considers such behaviour extremely rude and meddlesome, living with a mother who embodied such trait has taught her just how much everyone else would hate people poking nose in their businesses, so she kept it to her self and kept smiling at him instead, until her cheek started to hurt from the effort.

'Erm... I... I have an interview' There was no need to hide or withdraw the truth, she'd soon find out why he's at NOVA anyways so why not get it over with, a brief look of confusion crossed her face, but before she could ask him any further questions, someone interrupted from behind, sliding a arm around his waist in an affectionate manner.

'There you are darling! I was looking all over the place for you...' Kaitana purrs seductively, snuggling closer to him, Killian stiffens at first, until she painfully pinched him, a signal for him to play along and not blow their cover. The warning was clear as day, but he couldn't find it in him to obey, expecially not after the way Lucy Rose was looking from one of them to another with a lost expression on her face. 'And who is this pretty lady? I saw you talking to her from afar...' she did an excellent imitation of mild jealousy thar surprised Killian 'Do you know her from somewhere?' Kaitana continues, pinching him once again, until he took the cue and reluctancy wrap his hands around her waist as well, Lucy Rose saw the movement and instantly felt a spell of dizziness assault her. What in God's name is going on? Who is the strange lady and why is she acting so affectionate with Killian?
