Chapter 32: 32
After that mysterious message, he turned off his cell phone, but due to his caresses and tiredness, I fell into a deep sleep. But that didn't take away that I had the worry floating in my head and because of that I woke up later.
However, he was no longer in bed with me. I was wrapped in the blankets like a baby, but without him beside me.
I frowned and got out of bed, curious as to where he was.
I went out into the living room, but not before putting on a white shirt from his suit that I had found lying around on the couch.
Alessandro was facing Dante, speaking Italian, while the latter was putting on a different suit, with the same style as always, as if by putting on that outfit Dante's personality changed to that of Dante Di Marco, the mafia leader who ran a chain of hotels in Italy and the dark world of drug trafficking.
My abdomen tightened as I remembered spending the longest night of my life with him, no matter what he had to carry on his back; he made me see the stars more times than I could remember and it didn't lose the same image I had of him; domineering and controlling.
For a moment I thought I could be by his side without goodbyes, but I completely forgot the position he held and the responsibilities of his job.
He had no time for trivial things.
"Ah, Signorina Lawrens," Alessandro said when he saw me and I was surprised, as I had become immersed in my thoughts.
Dante turned around and opened his eyes to see me in his shirt, baring my bare legs to his employee.
"Good morning," I said innocently.
"Turn around Alessandro," he ordered and covered me with his suit jacket.
"Yes sir," he obeyed his boss and with his hands behind his back, turned his gaze towards the modern decor of the living room that was right in front of us.
"Why didn't you put on something more comfortable? It's cold today," the black-haired one complained, staring at me and I could only appreciate the glint of his lips moving, not knowing exactly what he was saying.
What was going on?
"If you want me to be jealous, it's a very bad time to make me angry," he said, while my fingers itched and I felt the need to touch his skin again, "You can't play with...," he stopped the moment my hand touched his cheek softly and he looked at me curiously, as if surprised, "What are you doing?
"What?" I watched his eyes again, having submerged myself in a kind of invisible bubble where I was dominated by sensations.
"What's wrong?" he put a hand on top of mine, sticking more to my caresses.
"Nothing," I pulled my hand away, but he refused.
"A little more," he closed his eyes to my touch and my heart pounded, "This moment is the quietest I've had in years.
I sighed deeply. He was knocking at the door of my heart, where a chain covered the steel that protected my insides from new dangers coming from the opposite sex.
After Mauro, I was questioning myself about reality and the evil that people could have in their hearts.
What I thought once was love, was represented in the worst possible way, as if I had broken the illusion I had never felt with anyone.
But Dante, he wanted to dare to cross the sea that I thought was disappearing; I didn't want to be part of it, but everything about him attracted me like a magnet.
What could I do against the forces of attraction?
Probably if he was not in front of me with those sublime eyes, so soft and tempting, I could protect myself from feeling something for him. However, from the moment we crossed that line in the pool, there was no turning back.
"Sir, sorry to bother you, but it's time to go. You have a meeting in a few hours and your flight to Paris leaves now; the jet is waiting for you at the airport," Alessandro interrupted, recalling the itinerary that was prearranged for that day with Dante Di Marco.
His life was to be traveling, but on the job.
At some point he could live a normal day, where there were no dangers involved.
"I know," he replied and pushed me towards the suite room, "Wear something decent; avoid making me jealous by showing my legs and breasts to others," he pointed to the aforementioned and quizzically, I looked at the shirt and noticed how thin the fabric was why you could see the pink color of my nipples.
I covered myself with my arms.
"Are you going to Paris?
"Yes, I have an emergency matter, do you want me to bring you something from there?
"Are you coming back today?" I asked and he looked at me in surprise.
"To Italy yes, but I have a meeting at the villa with associates in the evening; a matter of loyalty. I'm taking advantage of the fact that I don't have the risk of putting you in danger to avoid suspicion," he put his arm around my waist and pulled me close to his body, forcing me to lift my head to look at him, "But why do you ask? Are you going to miss me now?
"No reason, don't get your hopes up," I pulled away from him, before I saw something I didn't want to.
My feelings were compressed, they didn't exist.
"How stubborn," he rolled his eyes and gave me a chaste kiss on my hair, before leaving the room. His presence gave me the security I had lost since the kidnapping, but I was afraid to trust and afraid to lose.
It was dangerous.
I wanted to understand what was happening with me, since I had been with him all night, between his kisses and caresses, as if I were the most precious treasure in the world.
And yet, I had doubts choking my heart.
What battle did I have to deal with to resolve my inner conflicts?
I sighed, staring at my cell phone.
The sky was completely darkened and I didn't receive any information from Dante all day, not even a message and I didn't know how to interpret his way of being.
Even if he wasn't like that before, he had his bodyguards to find out about me. He didn't have the time to find out for himself.
I didn't know how to have the illusion of being by his side, if our destinies were crossed and we were from different worlds.
I was distracted from my thoughts by the sound of my cell phone; I eagerly checked it and found something unexpected.
Nina had written me after having been missing, however, it was not even a greeting, it was a photo where Dante was and on his arm he was carrying that unknown woman he took to the villa.
They were in that meeting he said, but it seemed that she was his companion.
I tensed my jaw in annoyance and threw the cell phone away from me.
It was clear that there were many things he was omitting to tell me and that was, there was someone other than me.
And I was going to take it upon myself to make it clear to that woman who had the power.
