Chapter 14: A Vampire’s Oath

(Cain)

“HOW MUCH money are you willing to spend on me?”

I could read minds. It was a natural ability that I disliked from the very beginning. Who would want to hear the thoughts of every person on the planet? I had heard the most perverted thought of all, and the most disgusting, too, that almost made my stomach churn. I was not lying when I told Natasha that I still feel surprised whenever I would find out what the humans were thinking.

I could never figure out how humans could come up with such things in their heads the way I could never figure out what was currently going on inside Natasha’s head. Her mind was the only one I could not read.

After explaining the situation to her, she excused herself and went to the bathroom. It took me by surprise. After witnessing her outburst in the guest room, I did not think she could ever leave her father’s side while the treatment was still on-going. She was gone for about ten minutes and when she came back, it was like I was facing a different woman. Her eyes were now swollen, a proof that she cried by herself the whole time she was away.

But Natasha now looked composed. Her emotions were all over the place a while ago but now, it was like she was in a business meeting. Her expression was blank. And the first thing she asked was not about the update regarding her father’s condition but about the money.

And I appreciated that about her. It meant that she was now choosing to believe me. Natasha was choosing to trust me this time and so she chose to trust my men as well. She was now aware that her father would live no matter what. She did not hide and sulk in one corner unlike most women. She did not neglect the situation. She was facing it head-on instead.

“I didn’t get to properly thank you earlier. You said that one of your men created a clone for my father. And that clone was the one in prison right now. My father was being attacked by the Rogues when your men came to rescue him. I will not ask how you, guys, did it. In my current state, I don’t think I will be able to understand it anyway. But I am very grateful to you and to your men.”

Even with that reserved tone, her voice was still so pleasant to hear. I could not wait to hear her singing voice.

“There is no need to thank me, Natasha. We had a deal. I’m just keeping my promise.”

Natasha sighed. “What you did may be nothing to you, but it meant so much to me. A while ago, you asked me about my plan. I’ve thought about it.”

I leaned on my chair. We were back in the library. It was two rooms away from the guest room where her father was being treated. “Is that so? Tell me about it then. Don’t worry about the money.”

I deliberately left out the part that since she was my Marker and she now had my ‘scent’ all over her because of her unintentional feeding on me, all the supernatural beings in the world would now recognize her as mine. She didn’t need to ask. The Vampires would gladly cater all her needs. If she asked for money, they would give it to her without a thought. That was how much they valued my Marker.

But of course, I would not let Natasha spend someone else’s money when I had mine. I had golds in different parts of the world which my servants took care of while I was put on slumber. I could even provide for Natasha’s great grandchildren’s families and I would still have tons of golds to spare.

“Since the Rogues are the Ricafortes’ money supply and they were now on the way to being executed, then it means that the Ricafortes’ money tree will be cut off from now on. You also said that the witnesses regarding my father’s case all disappeared. They must have all died.” Natasha’s voice trembled a little. Wrath crossed her eyes, but it didn’t last long. Her expression looked unreadable again. “I have no time to play hide and seek. I want to redeem my father’s reputation as soon as possible.”

I nodded, quietly encouraging Natasha to talk some more. I could almost guess where this conversation was heading. I actually hated being inconvenienced. I was not supposed to be sitting down here and discussing these things with her. I was not supposed to care. I could always ask my servants to take care of her. I was only supposed to be by her side whenever I would feed. But for some reason, I could not get away from her whenever she was having a tough time.

Damn it. What the hell was my body doing? What was I doing? The thought that my servants would be the ones seeing her like this made me uneasy. My body had refused listening to me the second I saw her tears. Damn those tears. How many women had I seen crying before? And every time, I would only walk past them.

But those waterworks in Natasha’s beautiful eyes tugged my heart. Hell. Was this another curse casted on me?

“If we can’t find a witness, then we will create one. We can set a trap to do it,” Natasha continued. “The Ricafortes may be playing the holier-than-thou cards right now but I will make sure it won’t last. After all, Leon would never be able to say ‘no’ to a young and beautiful woman. That’s his weakness. I just need to find a woman that would catch his interest.”

“That’s easy. I will have a Vampire woman do it. Vampires are seductive by nature. If they wanted to, no humans could refuse them.”

She nodded. “That’s settled then. Again, thank you so much, Cain. All this wouldn’t be possible without you. I will tell you the rest of my plans later. But one thing is for sure. I will not stop until Leon confesses all his crimes.”

“How could you change so quickly? You were not like this a while ago,” I said instead.

That was not my goddamn business anymore. I should have ended our conversation right there. Why in the world did I have to ask that stupid question? What was it to me anyway?

“I had to be like this because I was scared.”

My brows furrowed. Well, Natasha did not look scared, not even an inch. But I did not need to keep probing. She may be entertaining but I did not need to know anything anymore. I needed to draw the line right here, right now. But my curiosity made me ask again, making me feel so frustrated about myself.

“You are with me. What are you still scared of?”

“I was abandoned by so many people because I was weak. If I act weak right now, you might abandon me, too. Who would want to stay with someone so weak anyway? Yes, we may have an agreement. But I don’t remember signing anything which will make that valid. You could still change your mind any time. I had so many friends before. I even had a man whom I’ve known for more than ten years. He also promised a lifetime with me. But in the end, he left me.”

Thinking about Natasha’s blasted ex made my blood boil. Too many people had damaged her mind, her heart, and her self-esteem. The temptation to set those people on fire surprised me. Why… was I affected? Was it because she was the first woman I saw after a hundred years?

But no… I know myself. If it was that simple, I never would have cared. Was it because of the warmth I found only in Natasha? The warmth that I had been missing almost my whole life? Or was it because of the way my heart raced when she smiled at me for the first time?

“The problem isn’t with you. The problem was with those idiots. In the future, find better friends, Natasha. And find a better man.”

I was stunned by the last words I said. Why did that last sentence sound wrong in my ears?

Natasha did not respond. To my surprise, she approached me like a warrior on a mission. She stepped closer to my chair and kneeled before me. And without a word, she unzipped my pants. I held her hand to stop her. I intentionally sat far away from her earlier. Whenever our skin would touch even a little, my hunger would magnify.

And right now, with Natasha this near me, I was only seconds away from ripping her clothes. “What do you think you are doing?”

“Consider this as my way of doing my part of the bargain,” she said before taking back her arm. She then released my cock from my boxers. I flinched when she began gently cupping my balls while licking the head of my shaft.

Holy crap…

“You are powerful. I am not,” she whispered as she began running her hands up and down. How many times had women did this to me and I felt nothing? I had lost count. So why was it so easy for this mere mortal to affect me this way? Natasha was so small that she barely reached my shoulders but she could rule my body the way no woman had ever done before.

Her small, delicate hands were like live wires, carrying electric current in places they touch. I was now fully aroused that it ached. Not long after, she softly kissed the tip. Her lips were so soft. They felt wonderful against my skin.

This woman was not in her right mind tonight, Cain. Do not let your cock control your brain. “Natasha, you should stop before—”

“You were able to gather so much information in less than a day. Those things would take weeks or months for an average human to find out. The more I think about it, the more it becomes clear to me that I am only a replaceable human you can toss anytime, Cain. I realized that for our relationship to work, I need to be useful, too. I need you and I have to make you need me, too. I need to be the most important human for you. And for that to happen, I need to do my fair share,” Natasha said before wrapping her hand around the bottom of my cock. She took the rest of me in her hot and beautiful mouth. The insides of her mouth were so soft but so tight. It felt just as good as when I penetrated her.

My body went rigid. Whoever said she was powerless? That was bullshit. Having her looked up at me as she sucked me like that was the sexiest thing I had ever seen. It nearly drove me crazy. In an instant, my eyes darkened with hunger.

“Natasha…”

Hell… it felt so sinfully good inside her mouth. I caressed her head as I shut my eyes. I pulled her head closer and began moving my hips. I could feel the back of her throat clenching down on me. It felt so blissful that it made me moan. Not long after and I could feel myself near exploding.

“Let go, Natasha,” I said in a now raspy voice. “I’m about to cum.”

But Natasha did not move an inch even if her eyes were now close to crying when I tried to thrust inside her mouth. I almost forgot that she was one determined human. She would not be in front of me if she wasn’t. Once she sets her mind into something, she would do it. I had always liked that personality of hers.

But not now. I didn’t want to cum inside her virgin mouth. I was not stupid.

Amidst the heady experience she gave me, I could tell that this was her first time. She must have read or watched this somewhere. Her trembling hands and the way her tongue hesitated for a while back there would not fool me. This first timer was really trying her best. And watching her that way was absolutely precious.

When Natasha did not let go, I had to pull myself out of her mouth before I grabbed her arm.

“Why? Did I do it wrong? I’m sorry, Cain. I just saw that from a video a long time ago. But I’ll do it again. Give me a chance,” she added in a desperate voice. “I will do better this time I promise—”

“Shut up. You talk too much,” I said in a ragged breath. I pulled her closer to me and buried my face on her neck. I bit her there as I felt hot fluid coming out of me. It took me some time before I raised my face. I could not believe that I lost it, that I lost to her touch and actually allowed my cock to rule over my brain. Worse, I could not believe that I was feeling embarrassed in front of a woman.

What the hell had I gotten myself into?

I was greeted by Natasha’s surprised face. “You… you really came.”

“Well, it was quite good for a first-timer like you.”

Even until this moment, I still feel hungry for her. Damn, I wanted to devour her, her delectable mouth, her lovely body, every inch of her. And I wanted to do it right this instant. I knew I could. I knew she would let me. But it did not feel right doing it now. We needed to get out of the library to talk to the doctors. I could hear footsteps from the adjacent room. The treatment must have been over.

I stood up and ran my fingers through my hair. “You are by far, the craziest human I have ever met, Natasha. And you are probably the most stubborn, too,” I told her. Feeling this good about someone was not a good sign for me. I should have walked away while I still could. But once again, I could not move my feet. Damn these feet. “You, Natasha Rivera, will certainly cause me trouble one day.”

I cupped her cheek when she was about to lower her head. My other hand caressed the bite mark on her neck. In an instant, the bite mark disappeared.

“No, look at me because I will only say these things once. You are going to cause me trouble, probably lots of them,” I added with a smile. “But I’m choosing to stay because I am not like the people you met. I’m giving you three years of myself, of my body, of my soul, of my service, and of my blood. And throughout those years, I, Cain Del Roman, will stay with you, Natasha Rivera, through good times and bad. Now that you have stated what you wanted from me, open that lovely mouth of yours so we can seal this partnership properly.”

Natasha looked confounded, but she still did as I said. I bit my hand and allowed my blood to drop in her mouth the way the Vampires give their pledge over the people they choose to be with. “This is my solemn oath to you.” My Marker. “A Vampire’s oath is equivalent to his honor. And when a Vampire gives his oath, he stands by it no matter what. This is a seal of our contract and the proof that you need.” I lifted her wrist. She now had a chained mark just like mine. This time, I showed her my own mark. “These marks will not be visible to the human eye. Only you and the Vampires could see them. The marks will disappear once our contract expires.”

Natasha just stared at me for a long time. There was wonder and gratitude in her eyes. And then she held my hands tightly as if they were her lifeline.

Three years. In a blink of an eye, all of my plans had changed because I was not really planning to stay that long. But that was the most I could do for this woman. It was the only way I could think of to make sure that Natasha and her family would be fine once I disappear from her life. It was no use trying to get away from her anyway just so she would not turn out to become my weakness.

Since the other Rogues had probably already heard about her, then I better just keep her now and eliminate all the possible threats. Right. Three years would do.

Then again, for someone like me who had lived for centuries, three years was nothing. Besides, I could almost see it now. It was evident in Natasha’s eyes. This woman would be unstoppable in three years.
