Chapter 65: Change

Vaughn

What in the hell did I do.

I fuckin-

What the hell was I thinking.

I kept my eyes closed, not really wanting to open them and have to face Mollie. Although, I could feel her lying against me. It is not that I wish I were not here with her or anything. Hell, I fuckin like it here.

I just do not want to have to fucking explain myself. How the hell do you explain something you do not even fucking know yourself.

I had sex with Mollie. Even though I promised myself I would not violate her, I fucking freaked at her yesterday for having sex in the first place. And then I marched back in here, and I ended up sleeping with her myself.

What the fuck is wrong with me.

I sighed heavily, then found that I was hoping it would not wake her up. I know one thing. I know I should not have just marched in here and started kissing her like I did, without talking it out first anyway.

I know that I should not have let her rip off my fucking shirt, or that I should not have removed hers.

I know that I should not have brought her to the couch for the night.

And she should not have put my hand on her perfect, ample breast.

But I also know that I sure as hell do not regret any of it.

We did not screw or fuck. We did not just have sex, it was more than that. It was not degraded or anything. It was not like it was laid out and planned step to step.

It happened. It just fucking happened. And I was not going to say no, and it did not seem like she wanted to say no either.

I know she is going to wake up and flip out at me. Hell, I would too, seeing how big of a damn dick head I was being at her yesterday.

But whatever she thinks, however fucking much she claims to regret all of last night, she is lying. There is no fucking way she can regret what happened last night.

Nobody in their right fucking minds could have sex like that and regret it, and I know damn well that Paisley fucker, or whatever the hell his name was, never gave her nothing like that. I know for one reason. I love her. And he never did.

We never just had fucking sex last night, and fucking cheesy as it sounds and however much I hate to fucking say it, we bonded.

Fuck, I am getting corrupted by Gray and Claire.

"Oh no," whispered the little voice to me.

I did not have to see her to know that her giant blue eyes flew open wide. I could just tell.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no," she mumbled, sitting up straight onto the sofa.

I chuckled inside my head. I know there is nothing damn funny about her regretting last night, but she is so fucking cute that I cannot help it.

"Oh my goodness," I felt her look down at me, and I finally gave into it and let myself open my eyes to see her frantic face glaring down at me with way too many mixed emotions.

Mollie

That was good. Too good. Way too friggen good.

No it was not, it was so damn hypocritical of him to just come in here and start kissing me the way he did.

It was good and terrible. It was far too good to be true.

Did he just do that to prove a point. Did he do that to make me look like I would have sex at the first chance I got.

If it was, I failed.

"Oh no," I blurted out, looking over at the sleeping cowboy.

It had to have been a test. Why else would he have come back. He was just trying to prove how desperate I am. And I failed.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no."

I swear, I am not a slut. I am not. I could have went years without having sex again, decades even. I swear I could have. He just marched in here so strongly and swept me off my feet. He completely caught me off guard, completely infatuated me. What in the hell was I supposed to do.

How the hell do I say no to somebody who has so much influence over every single emotion in my body.

He planned that. He wanted to torture the fucking hell out of me.

Now he is going to leave here, making me look like a total tramp.

"Oh my goodness."

I heard a low chuckle come from the utterly gorgeous slime ball that was still lying under me.

"You," I growled, snapping up to my feet and grabbing a blanket to wrap around my nude body, "are the biggest brain washing, hypocritical, slimiest slime ball. The meanest, evilest, biggest dick fuck. The giantist asshole," I breathed heavily, trying to keep my cool, "backstabbing, manipulating prick that I have ever met."

He sat up with a frown. "Mollie. You did not mean anything that you just said," he said gently. His accent drove me crazy. It always did. But I was not letting myself fall for it.

I breathed staggeredly, not exactly knowing how I felt about him anymore. I love him to damn death, just hearing him and seeing those eyes scream it at me.

But the game he is playing with me right now is not fucking funny.

"Do not you dare Mollie me," I snapped, using my best Vaughn voice. "You did that on purpose. I do not know what the heck you were trying to prove by storming in here and getting on like you did, but whatever it was, you did it," I growled out the last part. "And you succeeded."

"No, listen to m-"

"Congratulations, dick head," I hissed out over him. "You did it. Now I would love it if you would just get the hell out of my house."

He smirked.

God damn it.

Vaughn

He could have screamed, yelled, got up and left, argued, cried, flipped out, punched something. I would have been satisfied.

But he smirked. Out of everything he could have done, he had to do the most brain washing thing the person you hate to love could do.

"Sit back down on the couch," I said.

"Why should I," she hissed.

"Sit back down on the couch, Mollie."

I crossed my arms. "No."

I grumbled swear words while I pulled my boxers back up.

"Mollie," I demanded, patience thinning, "please sit on the couch."

"I said no."

"Sit back down on the fuckin couch where we made love for the first time."

Her jaw dropped.

I gently pulled her back down.

"You are just going to leave," she mumbled.

"Do you want me to leave."

She hesitated.

"Preferably, I would not want you to leave."

"Then I will not."

She accused me of proving she was easy.

That made me laugh.

Mollie

"You seriously think you are easy," he asked.

He talked me through everything. How long it took. How much waiting there was.

"You are afraid I am going to leave," he said.

I looked down.

"I am afraid I am going to give you everything I got," I admitted, "then you will leave."

He talked about this place. Wears Valley. How he hated it. How he kept coming back.

"There is something about this place," he said. "And there is something about you."

He told a long story about lipstick, about past promises, about choosing me without realizing it.

"You are that something," he said. "And I am not going anywhere."

Vaughn

She asked about the word love.

I meant it.

But she was not ready.

"Just a figure of speech," I said, kissing her forehead.

She asked if I was leaving.

"Tonight. But I will be back next week."

Mollie

We cleaned the house together.

We argued, laughed, worked side by side.

It was easy.

And that scared me.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Vaughn

I left knowing one thing.

I hated cleaning.

But I loved doing it with her.

Mollie

I worked the fields until the sun dipped low.

When Vaughn walked up the hill, smiling at me, my heart twisted.

Everything was moving fast.

I did not know what would happen when there was nothing new left.

But I knew I did not want to stop.

So I waited.

And I wondered how long it would take before we ran out of new experiences.
