Chapter 93: 93 - Sleepovers
Dinner was quiet except for Angel's constant chatter and her bubbly announcements of things she wanted for her birthday in two days. She wanted snow even though it was summer, wanted a large display of her favorite pictures, wanted to be a cute princess with wings, wanted a sleepover with three of her best friends, and wanted a Disney-themed cake.
At first, I had assumed that we would come to a compromise later and do what we could since the snow was impractical as it was not winter, but we could perhaps manage a pool party. Later on, I realized the butler was actively taking notes of everything she said, and I decided to take a step back and see how things would pan out.
We were soon done with dinner, and Sin came around to my seat, his hand extended to me. I took it, my fingers wrapping around his. He was warm, and it made me smile as I met his eyes.
He gave me a smile, too, before lifting me and slowly guiding me away from the table. We sat around on the large sofas while Angel fell asleep on Sin's lap, and the butler, Sin and I went over the birthday plans.
"How are we going to give her snow?" I asked, my voice low as I turned to Sin, who was going over the notes.
"We are going to have fake snow all over the compound and have it sprayed too."
I nodded slowly. "Her dress..."
"Disney themed," he said, as the butler furiously took notes. "Her favorite is Sophia the first. Have a designer make a better version of the dress, and add wings to it. Large wings. Let the snow be dyed purple, and contact a baker to make a 3D version of Sophia. The same catering company we used for her fourth should be able to handle the food, and I want only a few adults, like the parents of her friends. No one on my side. "
I gave a small smile as I stretched, laying down to rest. "You have it all figured out already."
He looked down at me, his eyes tender as he ran his fingers through my hair. "Well, no. This is the first time she has requested a sleepover. I am not sure what that is supposed to entail."
I gave a small chuckle. "Well, I don't, either."
He nodded. "Have you ever had one?"
I gave a small smile, then shook my head. "We were too poor to even feed ourselves. There is no way we would willingly invite other people to feed."
His face fell, and he went quiet, his eyes softening even more. I shrugged and gave a small laugh to lighten up the mood again.
"I mean, I didn't even care for parties and..."
Sin suddenly leaned to me till his eyes met mine, his hand gently cupping my chin.
"Sin, I..."
"Do you want one?"
I gave a small laugh. "I still don't have friends."
"You don't have to. We can have a sleepover, just you and I."
I shook my head and started to move away, but he suddenly pulled me back, his hands around my body as he brought me to sit in his lap.
I gave a small chuckle as I adjusted my legs around him and wrapped my fingers around him.
"Are you really rejecting a sleepover with me?"
"We should be planning a sleepover for the kids."
He tilted his head to the left. "I want a sleepover with you."
I raised a brow. "Are you serious?"
He nodded, his hand gently massaging my waist. "I don't have any friends either. It could be just you and I."
I laughed, then slowly nodded. "Fine. But we should make sure of the details for the kids. We can have our sleepover later."
I nodded, but he didn't let me move, so for the next two hours, we checked everywhere for sleepover ideas until I found the perfect one.
Sin looked it over, then passed it to the butler.
"We could make those toasts she likes, have them play games, lots of chocolates, of course, and we could let them have a smaller cake."
Sin nodded, then turned to the butler. "Follow through with everything."
"We will have to make the toasts ourselves, Sin. And the tents. They are DIY ideas."
His brows furrowed. "We are supposed to make those tents?"
I nodded, laughing at his confusion. "We could make them tomorrow. I am pretty good with my hands anyway."
He gave a small sigh, and I saw just how tired he was. I was feeling pretty refreshed since I got a lot of rest, but between him taking care of me, Angel, Enrique and Larissa, and now this, there must have been no time for him to even unwind.
I got off his lap and adjusted, then tapped on my lap.
"Rest here."
He raised a brow, then shook his head. "I am fine. I have to..."
Before he could finish, I grabbed him by the shoulders, catching him unawares as I turned him to me. His eyes went wide, and in the place of constant intensity, darkness, and the wickedness of evil and sin, I saw surprise and innocence.
It made me realize how I have truly never seen him surprised, scared, or even innocent. There had been constant darkness in there. The darkness did draw me in. The darkness kept me there, but this innocence, it was every inch just as beautiful.
"What are you doing?" He asked, his eyes darting between my eyes and hands, his lips slightly parted.
I cleared my throat, hoping to remember why I had done it in the first place. "Come... lie on my lap."
He broke into a laugh. "If you insist."
Slowly, he lay down, stretching on the sofa, and his head came tiniest on my lap. His hair fell back in full, silky strands, and his eyes looked up to me with the same submissive innocence that I knew was not really him.
I ran my fingers slowly through his hair, then reached for his hand.
He watched me, his eyes holding a cross of emotions that ranged from fascination, tenderness, and just surprise.
"You look even better from up here."
He gave a small laugh, but I caught the blush on his cheeks, the red on his ears.
Before he could say anything, I leaned and took his lips in mine, my fingers tightening around his, my eyes closed.
He kissed me back in earnest, his hand slowly cupping the nape of my neck, his fingers playing around with my hair.
If this is what he meant by sleepovers, then I am a hundred percent down for it.
