Chapter 119: [15] Ezra: 'Delusional Còckblocker.'-2

I can't even imagine what kind of hurt that must bring because just thinking of Nyah with another guy is enough to make me collapse in agony. And I'm not even in love with my Mate yet. How would I feel if that happened after I'd fallen hard for her, completely and irrevocably? My Wolf whines at the image in my brain and I quickly push it off. No, she will be back soon. And we will win her over. I shoot Tatum an awkward smile that hopefully conveys my empathy when she meets my eyes, feeling guilty all of a sudden because here I am, worrying over an over-the-top made up scenario about my Mate, while she doesn't even have one. I'm such an ass. "Any news on when Nyah might be back?" She questions, clearing her throat and swallowing as she looks away. "Ah, no. All I know is, she's apparently gone up to Alaska, now." I shrug nonchalantly as I can pull off and make an attempt to smile again. "Oh . . ." Tatum nods as she looks down at her hands, the emotion she's trying to reign in clearly visible in her posture, I note that her eyes are suspiciously shiny when she meets my gaze again with a watery smile, "It's alright, man. She'll be back soon. Try not to fret over it." Briiiiing. The warning bell rings just at that moment, and before I can try and say something to her to maybe get her mind off the pain she seems to be in, she quickly turns around and darts away with a hurried, "Bye, guys!" thrown at people who seem to be too engaged to actually notice that she left. Seeing a friend leave in almost-tears does nothing but deflate my already fucked-up mood. Fuck, why the hell are things so depressing these days? ~ "What crawled up your ass and died there?" Paige mutters in a bored-as-fuck tone as she falls into step with me on my way to the class I couldn't care less about. I turn to her in surprise. Ever since her birthday, I'd been pretty occupied with negative thoughts and overall feelings of pity, and I'd mostly forgotten to annoy her in class. Since it's usually me who has to talk to get her to reply, our time together had been nothing but silence for the past weeks. Looks like she finally noticed. And it also looks like she cares. "Um, is this real, or am I dreaming? Like, can you pinch me real quick, P-Chan?" "Ha ha ha," Paige says flatly as she rolls her eyes, "Your usual dumbassery was absent for a peaceful couple of weeks. And I just wanted to make it clear if it's gone for good or just on vacation for a little while," She mumbles flippantly as she looks straight ahead, walking cooly down the hallway as if she didn't just admit to caring about me again. "I don't know, Paige. I can see your mouth opening and closing, but all I can hear is, 'Aw, Ezra, are you alright? You've been depressed and I wanted to make sure that you're alright'," I grin-my mood lifting considerably at the realization as I adjust my bag and continue my saunter to my class. "Delusional côckblocker," Paige rolls her eyes just as we reach the corridor of our class, "A gift on my birthday doesn't mean that you're forgiven." "Forgiven?" I laugh incredulously as I stare at the girl with wide eyes, "What did I ever do to you? And 'côckblocker'? Seriously, PC, what the fu-frack?" "First off," Paige laughs snidely as she reaches the door of our class, spinning around to meet my eyes, "Stop acting like I'm a kid. Trying to stop cursing in front of me is the lamest thing I've ever seen you do. And second of all, I don't have to explain myself. You won't understand anyway, you'll have to know about the world of Honeynovel for that." With that, the evil little devil turns around and walks into the class. "Um, what? The world of what?" I exclaim as I stare at her retreating back in amazement, completely clueless as to what she was rambling on about. "Just get into the class!" She calls and I turn around with a laugh, my eyes doing one last sweep of the corridor in a habitual manner. That's when I spot her. The silhouette of her figure-hidden in-between the rushing students hurrying to their own classes-is pretty unclear from where I'm standing, meaning she's almost at the end of the long hallway of the block. The distance is probably why neither of us sensed each other's presence yet. But despite brunette being a common hair color and yes, logically anyone could be wearing that black leather jacket she often wore, I'm suddenly filled with a hundred percent certainty that that person texting in a rapid-fire manner on their phone is definitely the soulmate who'd been evading me for the past two weeks. Damn it. The sight of her is such a welcome surprise after such a long time that I don't even realize that my feet are carrying me towards her until my view of her gets closer. Someone jostles her accidentally and she almost drops her phone, looking up and around her in surprise-making her eyes land on me. Only then do I notice that she's especially sexy today in her badass outfit. Her long hair is let loose in gorgeous curls around her face as usual, and the fitted leather jacket with the crimson red v-neck and ripped black jeans with those combat boots make her look like the heroine of an action movie. My Wolf growls appreciatively at that. Het chocolate brown orbs go wide at the sight of me, with shock or happiness, I'm unsure. They then brighten and glow an iridescent gold for a moment as her Wolf surfaces, and there I have my answer. She's definitely not unhappy to see me. Before Nyah can so much as utter a word, I step forward and wrap an arm around her neck, pulling her towards me in a harsh tug as I slam her body to mine in a hug that eliminates all gap between us-leaving every inch of all those glorious curves molded into the hard lines of my body. I sigh quietly as I exhale a long breath, and I realize that it was the breath I'd been holding from the moment I'd laid eyes on her. Before she can open her mouth in protest or try to pull away, I tighten my grip on her neck and growl threateningly. And then, I press my lips to her ear and whisper, "Fuck you, Mate." She goes plaint in my arms, bursting into uncontrollable laughter. ~ * ~
