Chapter 74 Need A Navigator?
Chapter 74 Need A Navigator?
Harry’s POV:
It was no news that I loved racing, especially when I got to show JK exactly who was king. But today, it was a different feeling; having my girl cling to me for protection and assurance was everything. This was all going too fast; her dependence and affection for me were something I never imagined.
One thing about Purple was her attachment issues. It was hard for anyone to get close to her, but once she let you in, she made you the center of her world—just like she did with me.
It was obvious how much she valued me, and I don’t think I have ever felt this important. I was wrong… being with her didn’t make me feel like the loser my parents tried to convince me I was; it made me feel like I was worth everything because that’s how Purple loving me made me feel.
I helped her off the bike and took off her helmet as she jumped into my arms, hugging me tightly. “We won… we won.”
My friends joined in, and Etsy clung to Purple excitedly. “Oh my… you got a firsthand view of the race!”
I looked over the crowd for Leone but couldn’t spot her.
“This is not over, Bords.” JK and his team approached us. This was how I always knew they were losers—they could never be humble after a game and just get the fuck out.
“Really? I thought it was.” I smirked as the Rebel riders laughed.
JK’s jaw was clenched. He glanced at Purple, then smirked. “Your navigator has a pretty ass.”
My fist clenched. I damn well knew he was trying to pick a fight, and I shouldn’t let him win, but was I going to? I gripped his jacket and pushed him. He fell a few steps backward, regained his stance, and was about to hit me back when Allen suddenly pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
JK didn’t see this coming, and he raised his hands, taking a step back. “Jesus.” Purple gasped beside me, and I knew she hadn’t expected Allen to have a gun, either.
“Coward, bringing a gun to a fistfight?” one of JK’s members snorted, trying to prove he had two lives.
“This is a racing event, not a fight. Accept your loss and get the fuck out before I empty my shit into you.” Allen’s finger was already on the trigger, and JK chuckled.
“Losers.” He spat, threw one more glance at Purple, and left with his stupid Chrome Vipers.
“Why the fuck do you have a gun, dude?” Chris turned to Allen in disbelief, and I also looked at him, wondering where the fuck he got that from.
“Chill… it’s not a big deal. Meet you all at the party venue.” He hurried to his bike, and I sighed. I had to ask him about this personally after the party tonight.
Every one of my riders played a significant role in my life. Allen was the one I went to when I needed smart advice, but if he was walking around with a gun, then maybe I should start rethinking my life choices.
“Do you have one too?” Purple asked with a frown, her hands resting on her hips like a mother questioning her ten-year-old toddler if he stole candy. Gosh, she was cute.
“Why don’t you check for yourself?” I teased, and she rolled her eyes, but her cheeks were completely flushed—just the way I like it.
“Let’s leave for the party already; I am in the mood to get drunk,” Etsy said excitedly, even though she was already halfway there.
“You guys go ahead. I will find Leone,” I let them know. Etsy clung to Purple’s arm, but Purple didn’t move; she gave me a look that was so easy for me to understand.
She was asking if I wanted her to stay back and wait for me, just like when I asked her on the bike if she was okay and she understood me smoothly. Have we always had this ability to understand each other in silence?
I shook my head. Leone had been acting off, and I couldn’t blame her… I was the one who ruined the friendship code by going out with the girl she had feelings for, so I had to set things straight before leaving for Bernoi.
After the Rebel members and supporters had all left to start the celebratory party, I rummaged through the crowd to find Leone.
“Bords! Bords!” A voice called out. I turned to find Zane, the leader of the water riders at Jerry and a good friend of mine.
“Congratulations, man.” He dabbed me up.
“You did good out there,” I let him know, and we stared at each other for a while before he sighed.
“You really will be doing the race at Bernoi again?” Guess the rumors had spread out of Roonie all the way to Jerry. Zane never tried to talk me out of this—after all, he was the one who introduced me to it—but when we got there the first time, he chickened out and decided to be my navigator instead.
“Hmm.”
“Need a navigator?”
“Always, man.”
He smiled and tapped my shoulder before leaving with his crew. I had participated in the race event in Bernoi three times and won twice. The first time, I wasn’t familiar with the roads and was still an amateur at riding, but I worked very hard and trained for the second round and won.
The third time, some businessmen approached me and talked about making me the best rider the world would ever have, but when you have parents like mine who feed you fake stories all your life, you learn to be humble and tell these investors to fuck off.
I looked all around for Leone, even sending her a message, but she didn’t reply. Then I remembered we shared our locations, so I checked, and she was still in this area. I followed the map.
“Baby.” My steps halted at that familiar, irritating voice. I continued to walk forward, but I could hear her footsteps behind me. I sighed and turned to find the blonde who had been blowing up my phone; I’d had to block four of her lines.
“That’s not how to treat a woman you once loved, you know.” Frankie frowned, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked me over.
“You’re stressing the hell out of me,” I said with furrowed brows. She pouted before taking a step closer, and I quickly stepped back, not letting her into my space.
“I heard you were together with that four-eyes, but I chose not to believe it. But watching you let her on your bike with your jacket was enough to convince me; you never even let me race with you.” Her eyes were sore with those fake tears she was so good at creating
