Chapter 67: Maurice’s Nude
Purple’s POV:
I walked over to the dark sitting room and looked around. Etsy was sitting on the couch, busy with her laptop, so I made my way over to her.
I looked around and chuckled before sitting next to her. “What’s funny?” she asked, not taking her eyes off her screen.
“Well… my mom has never switched off the lights in our house ever since my accident,” I answered. Mom never liked to sleep with the lights on; back then, to economize on electricity bills, she would walk around the house to make sure everything was turned off. But ever since the accident, she leaves all the lights on, and I know it’s just to make my movement easier.
She had literally abandoned her own bedroom to sleep in mine when I was still in a wheelchair; she helped me take showers, brush my hair, and took me to visit places. I might argue with my mom a lot, but she was the best mother. Even after I left the wheelchair, she never turned the lights off because she was scared I might trip and fall in the dark.
“Your mom is so cool. I don’t get why you’re always hostile with her,” she said, closing her laptop. I sighed.
“We wouldn’t have been involved in an accident if my mom hadn’t chased my dad out of the house, and he asked me to come with him.” I try every day to forget that heated argument that led to Dad driving out of the house angrily with me in the passenger seat, only to run into a truck.
“Why did she chase him out?”
I shrugged, even though I knew the reason all too well. My dad was cheating on my mom with a much younger lady from college. Mom had been suspecting it, finally found out the truth, and asked him to leave.
“That day, I was asked to choose whether to stay with my mom or leave with my dad. My mom looked at me with teary, pleading eyes, but I… I still chose to leave with my dad because he was the more vulnerable one. He wasn’t going to survive being alone, but I knew my mom was a fighter. Sometimes, though, I wish I’d stayed with Mom; I wouldn’t have been in an accident that broke my spine. Dad would still be alive, too, because the only reason he didn’t see the truck coming was that he was busy talking to me.”
“Parents have love stories that started just like ours; they are humans as well, and in love, so she must have had a justified reason for chasing him out.”
She was right, but ever since then, our relationship hasn’t been the same.
“Anyways, what do you need from me?”
She turned completely to face me. “I can’t keep away from Maurice.”
I frowned at her, and she sighed heavily. “So, I did something diabolical to settle the scores. You know… to give justice to the ladies whose videos he released.”
Now that piqued my interest. She picked up her phone and scrolled through Telegram before showing me a video. It was disgusting. It showed a naked man, his penis hanging heavily between his legs as he slowly swayed his waist like he was dancing. The camera moved slowly upward until the guy’s face was visible.
I gasped when I realized it was Maurice. “Holy fuck.” I almost puked at the thought that I had just seen him naked, and it was online for everyone to see.
“You released this?” I asked with widened eyes. Etsy nodded. Now I shivered in fear—just what was this girl capable of?
“The video has gone around Roonie, and some girls even shared it in our class forum. They keep making fun of him. It hurts to watch him get hurt, but just maybe it will make the girls he humiliated feel good.”
I blinked, trying to understand what she had just done. She felt guilty falling in love with a guy who had hurt many girls, so she decided to release his video as well, just so that when they got together, there would be nothing bothering her conscience?
“Do you realize he might hate you after this video?” I asked the question she seemed to have ignored.
Etsy shrugged it off. “Whatever. Anyways, Dianne agreed to let you take the pictures and gave strict orders that you take most of the pics of the guys shirtless.”
She was just too fast and smooth at switching topics, huh?
Then she stood up. “Good night, Pancake. And I sure as hell know that it’s advisable for you to get your legs all weak before a sports day.”
I raised a confused brow, and she chuckled. “Oh, please… the only reason I didn’t stomp into your room as usual is because I knew you weren’t alone.”
I picked up a chair cushion and threw it at her silhouette, but she laughed and dodged it. “Be careful, though, Purple. Don’t let him in that easily.”
“Good night!” I yelled at her, and she kept laughing before leaving for her bedroom. Maybe I should take her advice seriously.
The campus was filled with students dressed in all sorts of revealing sports attire. I stood next to Dianne, who only had on a vest and shorts that left her entire ass on display. She kept showing me how to use the camera, even though I had already assured her I knew how to.
“You see all those nerds dressed like they’re about to play the soccer team in the year 1900? Take a good pic of them as well.”
I chuckled at her description of people dressed decently. Forced and threatened by Etsy, I wore black leggings that hugged my ass tightly and a jersey.
“I got it,” I assured Dianne for the tenth time, and she finally moved on to other things. I was adjusting the camera when I felt a presence beside me. I turned to find Rose.
“Hey.” I remembered the last time I saw her, she was rushing out of the hall after the exams.
“Hey,” she said, checking me out. “Don’t tell me you didn’t sign up for any sports activity?”
“I’m the photographer.” I waved the camera at her, and she chuckled before looking around. That was when I noticed the few bruises around her neck.
I just knew something was wrong when she wore a turtleneck. My mom always wore one after a heated argument with my father, and it was only when I grew up that I realized he was putting his hands on her.
Someone was doing the same to Rose. “Are you okay?” I questioned. When she noticed me staring at her neck, she chuckled and pulled her jersey up a little, thinking it could hide the bruises.
“Just got into a crazy fight with my neighbors. All good.”
“They put their hands on you? Did you call the cops?”
“They look worse compared to me, so if I called the cops, I might be the one locked up.” She joked, and even though I didn’t believe her silly excuse, I decided to let it go… for now.
“You know you can tell me everything, right?”
“You know that goes both ways, right?” She raised a brow, and I couldn’t even refute it because I knew we had never talked about our personal lives; we were more like school buddies just talking about school stuff.
“And I thought the hottest news in Roonie would be Maurice’s nude, but I never imagined the news of your relationship with Harry to top it.”
My eyes widened because how did that get all over Roonie in such a short time?
“Roonie is a small town, Purple. Everyone will always know what’s going on.”
