Chapter 33: Gun fight

The car stopped in a big field. Rachael looked out from the car window, trying to discern where they were. It was just an open field with not a single soul.

"Richard, what are we doing here?" she asked as he grabbed her hand roughly.

"Let's go bitch" he ordered, holding her hand and dragging her out.

The strong wind hit her skin as soon as she stepped out of the car. His men were all arranged behind them with guns in their hands. Her hands shook by her side at the thought of getting killed.

"Are you going to kill me?" she asked in fear, but he only scowled at her.

"Can't you keep your mouth shut for once?" he asked as he dialed a number on his phone.

"I got your girl," he said gruffly. "I can't tell you our location, why don't you track us like an expert?" he cut the call

"Relax, your look tense" Rachael heard him, but that didn't do anything, rather it made her more apprehensive.

"Blindfold her," he ordered one of his men.

"What are you going to do with me, Richard? If you kill me, Xavier will have your head"

"And shut her up," he said to the guard who was already making his way toward her.

Although she tried her best to prevent the guard from accomplishing his boss' orders, that didn't stop him. In a split second her hands were tied to her back and a black cloth around her eye.

When he tried to do justice to his running mouth, she bit him on his finger hard enough that it almost snapped.

"Bitch" he cursed In agony.

Richard smacked her hard across the face. "Stay still" he ordered.

Did he expect her to do nothing while her mouth was tied up?

His guard eventually succeeded in shutting her mouth with masking tape and she was made to sit on the grassy floor.

After a long silence, she heard sounds of speeding cars approaching where she sat. Out of fear, she jumped up, thinking the car was going to run over her, but Richard slapped her across the face.

"Sit bitch" She nodded immediately and sat down back.

"Richard!" Rachael heard a voice and her heart leaped for joy. Xavier sounded furious as he walked towards them.

Rachael began to wish her legs and hand weren't tied so she could run up to him and hug him. She missed him so much.

"What is the meaning of this?" he barked in anger due to how she was tied up like an animal. She couldn't see his face, but she knew well enough he was angry.

"I didn't want her to escape. That will just disrupt the plan wouldn't it?" His annoying voice rang. "Now let's get down to business. Hope you brought the paper?"

"I did" He suppressed the urge to squeeze the life out of Richard. The number of bodyguards he had present wouldn't be able to stop him.

"Hand it over"

"You'll have to come and get it"

"I see you don't value the life of your darling girlfriend" he grabbed Rachael's hair and pulled it roughly. He then pointed a gun at her neck. "How about I kill her for you? That way you will take me more seriously"

Xavier stiffened as soon as Richard pointed the gun at Rachael's neck. One thing he never did was underestimate Richard. He could easily pull the trigger and have his revenge on what happened years ago.

"Richard put down the gun" his voice wasn't as authoritative as it was Earlier. It was calmer this time.

"That's not how to beg"

Xavier gritted his teeth. "Please"

"Good" Richard left Rachael's hair. "Now where are the papers?"

Xavier handed the paper to one of his bodyguards to give to Richard. After checking the papers, Richard nodded. He knew he couldn't try anything swift because Xavier's men were on standby waiting for any slight foul play, so he had to surrender Rachael.

After some time, he used a pocket knife to undo the ropes on her hands and feet. Then he removed the cloth used to tie her eyes. Due to how long her eyes had been tied, it took a while for her to adjust to the light. She immediately looked up at Xavier whose eyes were smoldered because of her condition. That was a look of guilt.

"Run" Richard fired the gun into the air, causing her to flinch. She wasted no time as she ran.

Xavier caught her, gave her a thorough look, and frowned when he saw her red cheek which Richard had slapped earlier. He wanted to retaliate but thought against it. If he did, then it will be a brutal war between the two confraternities.

"Get inside the car" he ordered, still looking at Richard in case he tried anything. Rachael did as he instructed.

When he saw she was safely in the car, he slowly began to redraw until he got to the car door.

Rachael was seated when she heard a gunshot. Her heart skipped a beat. She looked out of the window and she almost passed out when she saw Xavier stagger. He was shot

"Xavier!" she cried out.

Multiple gunshots followed. Richard's men and Xavier's men were out on each other. Some of Xavier's men were able to carry Xavier inside the car. Her heart ceased to function at the sight of him. It was due to the gunshot that they weren't able to take him to the other car instead.

His eyes were shut as he bled profusely from his abdomen.

"Xavier" she cried out, cupping his chin.

He tried to speak, but no words came out. When he tried too much, a groan escaped instead as he fought for his life.

"Stay with me. Start the damn car!" she yelled at the guard who wasted so much time.

The gunshots had already stopped and Richard and his men had zoomed off.

"Xavier I'm sorry" tears trickled down her cheeks. "This is all my fault" she couldn't help but blame herself.
