Chapter 15: Argument

Kelly's POV

"Kelly, it's been a long time, I didn't realize you were as beautiful as ever." I arrived at the theater on time as promised and saw a lot of unfamiliar dancers, on second thought it was because I had been away for too long.

It's normal for a lot of people to leave, "Are you here for the audition?"

Standing in front of me was Zoe, I saw the information on the display outside that she was already a principal dancer.

"Sort of, but it depends on the results."

I didn't deny it, I had wasted five years of dancing and now that I saw the brilliant young girls in the rehearsal room, I knew I had no advantage.

When I was in San Francisco, I spoke to my manager on the phone ahead of time, and he said he could give me a chance, but couldn't guarantee that he would accept me.

I knew his concerns, back then he said I was welcome back anytime thinking I would only be gone for a few months, I didn't realize it would be five years.

I didn't give the manager a hard time and just agreed to come in for an interview.

"What dancer have you been at for the last couple years, I haven't seen you around." Zoe came up enthusiastically and took my arm, talking and laughing with me, I didn't feel the warmth in her smile that I should have.

"I haven't danced with the company for the past couple years, just doing some routines at home."

I said politely, Zoe held skepticism about my words and looked at me differently than she had earlier.

"So what made you think of making a comeback now, you know there are so many good dancers out there, look at all those young girls out there ......" Zoe pointed to the girls who were lining up.

I looked over in the direction she was pointing, "Well, they sure are young and pretty."

I can't argue with that, but I'm only twenty-seven.

"And how come you haven't kept in shape over the last few years, look at how you can fit into a dance costume with those big breasts."

Zoe again surprised me by gesturing at my body, she even raised her voice.

It caused the people around me to look at me.

I was a little speechless, by this point I'd be a fool if I didn't see Zoe's animosity towards me.

My smiling but silent attitude drew sarcastic comments from the bystanders, "You want to dance even with that body, those who don't know themselves should get the hell out of here, do you want to hold up your costume on stage and let the audience see your breasts?"

"Who taught you to talk like that, that's a personal attack."

According to the old me I probably wouldn't have gone toe-to-toe with someone, I didn't want to get into a confrontation with anyone, but now I'm a different person, and I want to be able to follow my own ideas.

Why should I put up with her accusations from someone who has nothing to do with me?

"I don't intend to start a conflict with you guys, but I'm not one to be messed with either."

Hearing what I said, the girls made to come up and argue with me, but Zoe stopped them.

The people outside kept looking at me, it was less than ten minutes before the interview started and there were so many onlookers but not a single one of them stood up to say anything.

Of course I understood them, they couldn't cause any trouble, they couldn't leave a bad impression on the interviewer.

"Don't be mad, she's young and talks out of turn."

Zoe took my hand and explained to me in a gentle tone.

I only felt that she was hypocritical and brought Zoe to the side, explaining, "I won't be attending today's interview, I'll explain it to the manager in person, please talk to the manager later."

Without waiting for Zoe to react, I was already striding out the door with my bag.

"Kelly, wait, I'll apologize for her, don't be angry ......"

I speed up my steps to leave, I didn't hear what Zoe said after that and I don't want to.

Five years can change a lot of people.

The manager, Zoe, and also me ......

Leaving the theater, I'm a little confused, confused if my decision to come to New York was the right choice.

Lily was being taken by Jacob today, knowing that I was going to a job interview where it would not be convenient to take the kids with me.

Time is still early, I decided to go to the supermarket to buy some daily necessities is food.

When I came to the entrance of the supermarket, I saw a huge poster with a person I recognized.

"It's her ......Selena, she should be married and happy."

I stopped the poster and took the cart and headed inside.

"Hi beautiful lady, I see you have a great body, beautiful body lines, considering becoming an actress? I'm an agent of an acting company, the first moment I saw you I thought you must be a superstar in the future ......"

Someone blocked my way forward and I had to stop and listen to her.

"I'm sorry, I don't have any thoughts of becoming an actor, please move over, thank you."

"It's true, miss, we're an agency under the M Group, you can be completely assured that you'll definitely catch fire with your body." The man kept following me and explained to me.

"You think I have a great body?"

After all, just now in the theater I was criticized for my figure, and now I'm being complimented on my figure lol.

"Which knows naturally, with your dimpled body and beautiful face, you are definitely the next mega."

After my repeated refusals, the man handed me a business card, "Think about it, call the number above when you figure it out."

I took the business card in bewilderment, how similar this scene had been.

I put the card in my bag and continued shopping.

When I got home and put the food in the kitchen, the stickiness of my body made me uncomfortable and I grabbed a towel and went to the bathroom to shower.

I was really tired from being out and about all day today.

I chose to take a bath, the hot water wrapped around my body, my whole body floated in the tub, the undulating hot water kept lapping at my skin, I closed my eyes comfortably, enjoying the good time.

Suddenly I heard a knock at the door, which I ignored at first.

Kate had a key and she wouldn't be back this early.

Lily had been taken to the amusement park by Jacob and said she'd be back later.

But the person at the door was persistent in knocking and I grabbed a towel and wrapped myself in it and decided to go see who it was.
