Chapter 99: The Chaos

Cattleya's POV

Mr. Salvatore glared at me as if he'd seen a ghost, then immediately pretended like he didn't know me, "Who the hell are you?"

I chuckled softly. "Oh, you're just like your daughter. She pretended she didn't know me too. Alright, let me present myself again. My name is Cattleya Sullivan. The woman who died three years ago."

Suddenly, Elise interjected, "It's Dylan's birthday, and I don't want you to ruin my son's birthday..." then she glanced at Jaxon. "How could you bring this woman here to cause some chaos?"

Jaxon ignored her.

And amid the crowd, I heard Grace's voice shriek. My first thought was that she'd escaped the mental hospital, drunk and disheveled. "Cattleya! Oh my god, it's been a long time! Y—You're alive! I thought you were dead?!" Then she laughed at her own joke. "Oh my god, maybe I was just seeing things. Are you a ghost?"

And that's when Jaxon interrupted her, "Grace, do you know her?"

Anthony arrived to stop Grace from talking. "Grace, what the hell are you doing here?!" He grabbed Grace's arm tightly and said to Jaxon, “My apologies, Jaxon. My sister is not in her right mind."

Jaxon became more stubborn. "No, Anthony. I am still talking to your sister."

Anthony's eyes landed on me; he couldn't hide his pale face, his lips parted in surprise, and he looked away, "Grace, let's go!" he dragged Grace out of our face.

Then suddenly, the maid ran towards Elise, "Ma'am Elise, Dylan has a stomach."

Elise looked worried and said, "Oh my god, take him to his room and call his personal doctor. Damn it, his birthday was supposed to be so happy and peaceful, yet it became a chaos..." Then she glanced at me as if I were the source of all the chaos.

The maid left and took Dylan inside the house.

Jaxon put his hand over his head while trying to close his eyes as if he wanted to remember something, but it made it so difficult for him.

Then Elise said, "Jaxon, did I tell you to take your medicine on time? Look at you, you don't look good at all."

I scoffed. "The medicine that you always give to him wasn't medicine at all. It's only making him crazy and to believe all these lies that you feed him."

Elise's eyes widened. "You don't know what you're talking about! Don't accuse me of something you have no evidence for!"

"Actually, I have evidence." I glanced at the host of the party, and he played a video on the screen that showed how Elise had persuaded the doctor to sabotage Jaxon's mind. By the way, the host is Vlad's team.

The video ended with a collage of photos of Jaxon and me—happy together.

Jaxon's eyes widened in shock. He was so stunned he didn't know how to react.

Elise suddenly yelled, "TURN IT OFF!"

I wanted to say more, but Jaxon was still astonished. I saw tears slowly streaming down his lovely face as he looked at me. Suddenly, a loud explosion erupted outside. Everyone at the party panicked and ran for their lives to escape the chaos.

Mr. Salvatore raised his gun to shoot me, but someone from behind me dragged me out of the way.

And when I looked up it was Vlad. He saved me again.

Vlad and I ran together, pursued by a throng of people. Jaxon, overwhelmed by the situation, could only stare at me from a distance, clutching his head in pain. Finally, he yelled my name, "Cattleya!"

But Vlad urged me, "Don't come back. It's too dangerous." He then sped off in the car, making my heart leap out of my chest.

I took a deep breath and glanced at Vlad, “Oh, god.”

"You did great, Catt. There's no turning back now. You did so great. Jaxon now knows the truth. And the fact that he didn't hurt you or hesitate to trust you, it makes perfect sense that he's always had these feelings for you. He just couldn't figure it out yet," Vlad said to comfort me.

"But what will happen to him now? I'm sure that Elise is trying to sabotage the plan again, and this time, I might really lose him," I said, tears welling in my eyes.

"If he's that foolish..." Vlad trailed off, "Jaxon's not a fool, Catt. He'll interrogate them one by one. He'll investigate your life too. Maybe now, he's trying his best to remember you, or maybe he's trying to find you. Who knows?" Vlad shrugged his shoulders while driving furiously.

"I think you should slow down now," I tried to calm him down. "What should we do now? Hide?"

He whistled happily. "Easy. Jaxon will try to find you, and I'll make a deal with him. This time, it's my time to bring him down as the mafia lord; I'm tried of being a fucking loser."

"Can I call my twins?" I asked softly.

"No, you can't. You're only endangering them. It's not the right thing to do right now, Cattleya. So, listen to me, okay?" he said as he slowly parked his car inside his garage.

I stepped out of the car angrily and walked away from him. My heart was throbbing, replaying Jaxon's reaction and the way he stared at me – it was a look of longing.

"Catt..." Vlad said behind me.

"What is it?" I crossed my arms across my chest. "I should be happy that I've finally made Elise the loser in front of Jaxon, but it looks like it wasn't enough for me. It doesn't satisfy me."

"Let's wait for a signal before we take our next move."

And in just one second, Vlad's phone rang. I panicked and said, "Vlad, answer it!"

Vlad answered it with a smile, "Oh, hello, my man?"

Then he put it on speakerphone so I could hear what Jaxon was going to say.

Jaxon said, "Where is she?! I know you have her! I saw you!"

"Oh, calm down. I'm not going to hurt her, Jaxon," Vlad replied calmly.

And Jaxon scoffed, "Why are you with her?! Give her back to me... I need... I need to see her." And abruptly, Jaxon dropped the phone, and I heard a loud thud in the background.

I cried out in panic and worry, "Jaxon?!"

I looked up at Vlad and asked, “Vlad… what’s going on?!”
