Chapter 9

Louis's POV

I hopped up from my laptop on my bed, thirsty for anything to drink. I'd returned home after visiting the clinic this morning to see if my sutures could be removed and stayed in my room doing nothing constructive. I threw the door wide as I descended the stairs to my room, relieved to discover that I wasn't home alone as I had assumed.

I went downstairs carefully, trying not to be heard, and stuck my head into the living room.

Melvin and Tomy were both present. They appeared to be engrossed in whatever film was showing. It's almost as if they're making up for the years they've spent apart by spending every day together. You'd swear they were brothers, goddess.

I jerked the fridge open to get a bottle of water, which I immediately drank half of when I got into the kitchen. I was parched. I started looking for something to eat, partly because I'm too lazy to cook something more substantial.

I was aware that a male had entered the kitchen, but I didn't say anything because I assumed he'd get something and leave.

Taking a spoonful of strawberry yogurt I shut the fridge and turned around, a little startled to see Tomy so near. He told me to be quiet while holding his finger to his lips. As he got near, I did as he said, watching his nose flare. I stepped back till my back was against the refrigerator and observed his dubious conduct.

My lips parted, ready to inquire as to what he was up to, but his nose pressed against the crease of my neck, and I heard him take a long breath. I trembled, perplexed by his actions until it dawned on me.

There was the minty citrus aroma from his orange tic tacs, as well as the masculine musky scent that all dominating males have, with a tinge of woodsmoke and leather underneath. It all screamed powerful man, which was one of my flaws as a little gay Omega.

I whimpered, my body reacting to his aroma and proximity. I was perplexed and a little disturbed that my brother's best buddy was making me feel this way. My instincts had me baring my throat to the larger man, who approved with a faint growl.

"Tomy?" I murmured, still unclear of what was going on. Not that I had any idea what was going on. I simply know he smells great, and I'm getting a little horny right now.

Tomy awoke from whatever trance he was in and took a step away from me. As he examined me, his brows wrinkled, his gaze lingering on my Batman pajama pants. I squeaked as I saw them colored a little and covered myself with my hands.

As Tomy's dark brown eyes met mine, my face heated. As he leaned back in, a slow grin pulled up one side of his mouth, and I trembled once more.

My breath was seized as his lips brushed towards my ear.

"You fucking smell so wonderful, Louis." At the sound of his rough voice, I let out a stifled whimper.

"Get to the second floor." He roared, sending me fleeing with an overpowering need to obey any order he gave. Omega genes are a pain in the neck.

I was panting with an aching hard on and the awareness that I had forgotten a spoon by the time I arrived to my room.

I waited until Dad's cruiser pulled into the driveway before returning downstairs. I had spent hours on my laptop playing the Sims, trying to forget about what had happened earlier. Not that I could, but that seemed to be all I could think about. After a lot of woohooing, all of my sims were pregnant.

What would my future Mate think if he found out I was having a hard time because of his brother? I don't want to think about it, Goddess.

As I cautiously made my way downstairs, I came face to face with Dad, who was already untucking his shirt as he entered the front door. Mom wouldn't get home till later, when she'd finished cooking dinner for the entire pack.

"Hey, dad," I said, hesitant to take the next step.

"Louis," he remarked as he untied his boots in greeting.

"Are you prepared for school tomorrow?"

The reminder made me groan. I like living in denial, therefore I despised it when others reminded me of the things I didn't want to consider.

"Have you had any fun at work today? Have you managed to apprehend any bad guys?" I opted to ask my own inquiry instead of answering his.

Dad gave a quiet chuckle.

"If escorting an Omega in heat back home qualifies as fun, then yes." He knelt by the door and kicked off his boots, which he tossed into the pile of shoes already there.

No, I didn't think that was amusing. Getting your heat in public was the worst thing that could have happened to them, so I'm pleased Dad was there to help them go to safety.

At the pack house, I had my first heat. It's the worst spot on the planet to become hot. Apart from prison, that is. It was a nightmare. All of the unmated wolves are crammed into the pack home. Because most Omegas had at least one Omega parent, I didn't have much experience with going into heat. I had no control over what was happening because it happened so quickly. Little thirteen-year-old me was suddenly surrounded by older men eager to breed me. Not that they wanted to, but the pheromones sent by my body didn't offer them much of a choice.

It was a shambles, and the Alpha had to order everyone out of the house before they could start squabbling over me. Jason spoke to me for the first time at that point. He brought me to his room and attempted to keep me occupied until my parents arrived. He was quite charming. I knew I was in love after that.

I followed my father into the living room. I searched around but couldn't find Melvin or Tomy. They'd leave before Dad got home, knowing he'd want to sit in his recliner and watch television. That's precisely what he did as well.

I walked up to the window and saw my brother and his closest friend sitting in mom's rocking chairs on the porch. Robby wasn't wearing a coat, so my gaze was drawn to his ink-covered arms. I suppose he was attractive. In a dirty way.

"Could you bring me a beer, pup?" With his legs pushed up on his recliner, Dad inquired.

I went into the kitchen and grabbed one of Dad's glass bottles of root beer.

When I closed the fridge, I was reminded of what had happened in here just a few hours before and how I had allowed it to happen. What makes you think it won't happen again? Ever.
