Chapter 152: A Kind of Love Called Involuntary?
After chasing for who knows how long, Charlotte finally gave up and stopped first. Looking at Alexander's cold, arrogant, and impossibly cocky face, she felt annoyed, really annoyed.
"Mr. Wilson, what exactly is so charming about me that's worth you chasing me all this way?" Charlotte said irritably, looking at the deserted surroundings. Suddenly, scenes from The Walking Dead popped into her head.
Alexander still looked at her coldly, not answering but asking instead, "I heard you want to buy back the Ward family's property deed?"
"Please watch your words, OK? What do you mean 'buy'? The Ward family property was ours to begin with. When did it become yours?" Charlotte glared at him. Really, saying such things without fear of being struck by lightning.
Alexander couldn't be bothered to waste time on such a stupid question. He crossed his arms and gave her a dismissive glance. "The deed is with the Rogers family. Tell me when you're going and I'll go with you."
Wait, Charlotte was a bit confused about what was going on. So he chased her all this way just to say this? Seeing he had no intention of continuing, Charlotte shrugged. "That's it?"
"What did you expect!" He snorted coldly.
Charlotte completely rolled her eyes. "Mr. Wilson, are you bored with nothing to do or what? You chased me all this way just to say this? Normal people like us really can't understand how your mind works."
Alexander directly blocked her from getting into the car. "What, disappointed I didn't say something else?"
She let out a cold laugh. "Goodbye."
Just as she was about to get into the car, a hand suddenly grabbed her arm. Alexander forcefully pulled her back out. "The night is so beautiful, you're going back without enjoying the view?"
His tone was a bit awkward. Fine, he admitted he just wanted to be with Charlotte looking at the scenery. He told himself arrogantly that it was purely to enjoy the view, otherwise it would be a waste of such a beautiful night.
Charlotte looked up at the sky - pitch black without a single star, and he was talking about beautiful scenery. The surroundings were also completely dark. Only Alexander could come up with such a lame excuse.
"Since Mr. Wilson thinks the night is so nice, you enjoy it. The night view I appreciate is lying in bed counting money until I fall asleep, then waking up to count more until my fingers cramp. Different perspectives, no common ground. I'm leaving." She waved and got in again. She had no interest in standing here with this fool. Only Alexander would consider a dark night as scenery.
He had changed a lot over the years, like this anti-social way of thinking that was really hard to appreciate.
She had no interest in chatting with this jerk about random stuff. What's the point?
Alexander opened the car door and smoothly sat in the passenger seat, saying flatly, "Drive."
Charlotte really felt that Alexander was here to mess with her today. Thinking this, her face showed more impatience. "Mr. Wilson, this is my car. Please get out."
"One person or two people, it's still sitting. Ms. Harris isn't that petty." Alexander pressed his hands to his forehead and closed his eyes comfortably.
"That's because Mr. Wilson doesn't know me. I'm exactly that petty, so please get lost right now." Charlotte showed him no respect at all. Who knows if someone was following them? She didn't want rumors about remarrying Alexander.
"Getting lost I can't do, but rolling in bed I understand." Alexander drawled.
Charlotte's mouth twitched and she helplessly started the car. "This is the last time. In the future, please don't get too close to me during non-work hours, Mr. Wilson. Please."
She said it very sincerely, and for a moment Alexander was speechless.
True, with their different positions now, getting too close was indeed inappropriate. He thought he should consider this carefully. Suddenly that toothbrush popped into his mind again and his mood soured. He didn't even know why.
Who was that man?
Couldn't be Liam for now - if it were possible, she wouldn't have rejected him when he said he was Liam in Harmony City. James - they had a good relationship, and James had confessed to Charlotte before. That was somewhat possible. Ian - their intimate behavior that night proved their relationship was unusual. That was very possible.
He compared them in his mind, and after all the comparisons, found he seemed to have no place at all. His brows furrowed involuntarily.
"What's your relationship with Ian?" As soon as he opened his mouth, he unconsciously spoke his thoughts, his sharp brows furrowing again.
"Business relationship." She couldn't be bothered to say more.
"That's all?" He was still suspicious.
Charlotte's face hardened and her eyes turned cold. "Believe it or not, I don't care."
This jerk Alexander always liked to ask her weird questions, and when she gave answers, he still seemed unsatisfied. So hard to please.
"Let's switch seats, I want to sleep for a bit." Her eyes were getting uncomfortable.
Alexander looked at her coldly. "What were you doing so late at night?"
Not mentioning this was fine, but mentioning it made her angry. She had served him like a servant all night until his fever finally broke. She didn't expect him to have the conscience to thank her, but who knew this jerk would brazenly appear in front of Amelia. Only he would repay kindness with such ingratitude.
"Last night you had a fever and I took care of you all night, OK? If you have any conscience, come drive. Otherwise, just wait to get in a car accident with me and go to heaven together!"
She took care of him all night?
So in the end, Alexander pretended to be very reluctant as he switched seats with her. Charlotte fell asleep quickly. Because she was sleeping on her side, some drool actually leaked from the corner of her mouth. Fortunately, it all got on Alexander's clothes. The woman sleeping like a pig of course didn't know she was leaning on Alexander's shoulder the whole way. Alexander wanted to move but didn't want to move, so they returned to Riverside Road like this.
After sleeping for who knows how long, Charlotte groggily woke up. The first thing she did was habitually wipe the drool from her mouth. Looking up, she was stunned - why was Alexander still here?
Oh right, he didn't have a car.
At this moment, Alexander was also leaning back in his seat asleep. Compared to Charlotte, his posture looked much better. Charlotte wanted to reach out and shake him awake, but halfway there she pulled her hand back and rested her chin on it, watching him.
He was really handsome and charming. His profile had clear, defined lines. Those eyes that were usually cold were now closed in rest. High nose bridge, thin and sexy lips slightly pursed. Because he was asleep, the sharp aura around him was gone, and overall he actually looked quite pleasant.
She unconsciously reached out to touch his nose. Suddenly a hand immediately grabbed hers. She came to her senses and quickly tried to pull away, but couldn't escape from his large palm no matter how hard she tried.
"Do you know what you're doing?" He turned his face toward her, their eyes meeting. Both their heads were resting on the leather seats, looking at each other.
Charlotte felt her head was still dizzy and had no energy to speak. She continued looking at him, her mind wandering. The large hand holding her small hand made Alexander couldn't help but press down a few times. He opened his hand and forced their fingers to interlock. A warm temperature circulated between their palms, their warmth seeming to transfer to each other.
He moved his head closer to hers. From this angle, he could see her skin had no pores at all. Her clean, delicate face was like a freshly peeled egg, making him want to take a bite.
Alexander thought this and actually did it. He was the type to follow through on his thoughts. He moved closer to her and kissed her cheek, still not satisfied, gently biting it with his teeth, then lowering his head to capture her red lips.
Charlotte's mind wanted to resist, but somehow her brain didn't listen and she just closed her eyes. This hint was a silent invitation to him. He turned and twisted, plundering, his tongue sliding in. He crazily and domineeringly harvested her sweetness.
She didn't resist, letting him come and go freely. Her senses seemed to have a mind of their own, learning to slowly respond. The two finally embraced and kissed, neither letting go first. They were like lovers separated for years, passionate as fire, lingering and tender.
Ethan felt that continuing to film would be too much. After all, that was his mom and dad. Even though he was doing it professionally to capture their gossip for a hundred years, he couldn't bear to keep filming because it was getting too steamy for him to watch.
At this moment, his various doubts about Alexander's existence seemed to slightly improve. Some people you clearly feel are close yet feel far away, clearly far away yet feel close. This is a type of person whose feelings you can't figure out.
But there's a kind of love called irresistible.
Those two people were probably like that now. Ethan shook his head and walked away with his camera.
At this moment, he really wanted to walk over and remind them to be aware of the outside world, or at least go get a hotel room.
A cold wind invaded her back and Charlotte suddenly snapped back to reality, immediately confused. What exactly were she and Alexander doing?
She pushed him away and pulled up the zipper on her back, coughing awkwardly with a red face, looking around uncomfortably. "Well, you should go back, and I'll go back too."
Alexander also felt a bit awkward. He only came to his senses when Charlotte pushed him away. As for how they ended up like that, he wasn't very clear either, but he hadn't forgotten that he initiated it.
Looking down at his clothes, his white shirt with blue stripes was missing two buttons. No need to guess whose doing that was.
He very calmly smoothed out his somewhat wrinkled shirt and returned to his previous coldness, speaking matter-of-factly, "I'll take the car first and bring it back to you tomorrow."
"Fine." Charlotte awkwardly got out of the car without even looking at him. So embarrassing, what did they just do? How did they become so irresistible... might as well bang her head against a wall!
Alexander picked up her handbag and followed her. When did Charlotte become so confused?
