Chapter 110: Sophia Gets Slapped

Sophia was so angry that she couldn't speak for a long time, her face turning bright red. She glared at Amelia and said defiantly, "I want to compete with Amelia in makeup and fashion coordination!"

Amelia furrowed her brows.

But then Royce said, "You want to learn from me how to restore ancient paintings and glass sculptures, so why compete with Amelia in makeup and fashion coordination? It's not needed here."

Sophia was at a loss and resorted to her trump card.

She clung to Royce's arm and pleaded, "Grandpa, I really want to learn from you. Please let me learn from you!"

"No way." Royce waved his hand repeatedly and said, "You should go next door and learn how to restore wooden artifacts from Russell. My resources are limited and can't accommodate someone as talented as you."

Royce seemed to be praising Sophia, but in reality, he was mocking her.

The shop assistants were afraid of being seen by Sophia, so they turned around and secretly laughed at her. Sophia caught a glimpse of their shaking shoulders from the corner of her eye and was furious. She declared, "I must learn from you! I won't take no for an answer!"

Royce's face turned cold. "Learning from me will only bring me shame!"

"Mr. Martin is here!" an observant assistant suddenly shouted.

The assistant then ran to the door and eagerly opened it. Christopher walked in, holding an antique wooden box.

Royce stroked his beard and greeted him with a smile, "Christopher, what treasure do you want to restore today?"

"Our family genealogy book is severely damaged. I came to you because I trust no one else," Christopher said with a faint smile, raising the wooden box in his hand.

"Alright, leave it to Amelia. She's almost done with her training," Royce said excitedly.

Hearing this, Amelia stepped forward and took the wooden box from Christopher. She opened it and began examining the damaged genealogy book.

Seeing Royce casually hand over the valuable item to Amelia and praise her, Sophia's face turned livid with anger.

Royce glanced at her and suddenly remembered something. He pointed to Sophia and said to Christopher, "This is my granddaughter I mentioned before, Sophia Brown. Do you think she's pretty?"

Christopher glanced at her with a cold expression and said indifferently, "She's alright."

Sophia, who always considered herself stunning and had been praised by men in high society since childhood, was shocked by Christopher's dismissive words, "She's alright."

She felt indignant and looked at him with naked hostility in her eyes.

Royce thought Christopher's "She's alright" meant he was interested. He laughed and said, "Sophia is still single. If you find her pleasing, you two can give it a try."

Christopher's lips twitched and he said bluntly, "I don't find her pleasing."

Royce's smile froze instantly and he said awkwardly, "Oh, I see. Never mind then."

Sophia felt humiliated and snorted coldly. She said angrily, "I don't like him either. I only like someone like Ryan."

Royce's smile faded. "Ryan and Amelia got married three years ago. You should go on dates and find someone suitable, not covet a married man."

Mabel, Scarlett, and Zoey were all on Amelia's side, but Sophia didn't expect even Royce to side with Amelia!

Sophia's anger surged to her head! She blurted out, "They were about to get divorced before! If it weren't for Amelia's grandmother's calculated death, they would have divorced long ago!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Sophia felt a sharp pain and a clear handprint appeared on her left cheek. She screamed in pain and covered her face, shouting, "Who hit me?"

Everyone looked at each other in confusion. No one saw who hit her, but Sophia's left cheek was visibly swollen.

Sophia suspected Amelia, but when she turned to look at her, she saw Amelia seriously examining the genealogy book, standing several feet away.

Being an ordinary person, Amelia couldn't have moved instantly, so she was ruled out.

Sophia's gaze shifted around and landed on Royce, Christopher, and an assistant standing nearby. She glared at the assistant and asked, "Was it you who hit me?"

The assistant, terrified, waved his hands and backed away, saying, "I have no grudge against Ms. Brown. Why would I hit you? I wouldn't dare."

Sophia then looked at Christopher.

Christopher barely smiled and said, "This is my first time meeting Ms. Brown. I have no reason to hit you."

Sophia felt like she was encountering a ghost. Everyone denied hitting her, but she was clearly struck!

She turned her suspicious gaze to Royce. "Grandpa, was it you who hit me?"

Royce's face was stern. "You're my granddaughter. No matter how angry you make me, I would at most scold you. How could I bear to hit you?"

Feeling the burning pain on her face, Sophia was on the verge of breaking down. She pointed to her swollen left cheek, tears welling up in her eyes, and said, "With so many people here, didn't anyone see who hit me?"

The assistants were afraid of being suspected by Sophia and quickly dispersed.

Christopher also quietly turned and walked towards Amelia. He asked, "Ms. Smith, is it possible to restore this genealogy book?"

Amelia nodded and said, "It can be restored, but it will take some time. Are you in a hurry?"

Christopher said, "Take your time. I'm not in a rush. Just call me when it's done, and I'll come to pick it up."

"Alright," Amelia replied.

Christopher took out a check for one million dollars from his bag and handed it to her. "This is the payment from my father."

Amelia glanced at the amount and declined, "It's usually one hundred thousand dollars. This is too much."

Christopher insisted, "My father has plenty of money. If you don't accept it, he'll be upset."

Amelia was unable to refuse and accepted the check. In this line of work, clients were usually wealthy, and they were generous as long as the restoration was satisfactory.

She thought she could give him a discount the next time he brought something for restoration.

Sophia watched this scene with great jealousy.

As the executive assistant at the Brown Group, she earned only a few thousand dollars a month, and that was Eddy's favor. She thought coming here today to become Royce's apprentice would humiliate Amelia, but instead, she was ruthlessly overshadowed. She was inexplicably slapped and witnessed Amelia earning a million dollars in minutes.

Sophia was devastated. She grabbed her bag from the counter and stormed out of the store without saying a word.

The more she thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed. Amelia only asked for one hundred thousand dollars, but he insisted on giving her a million! No matter how wealthy, it wasn't normal to throw money around like that.

An idea struck her.

Sophia picked up her phone and called Ryan, speaking in a sweet voice, "Ryan, guess what I saw at my grandpa's store today?"

Ryan said coldly, "Tell me."

Sophia said, "I saw Christopher bringing an old genealogy book for restoration. Amelia only asked for one hundred thousand dollars, but he insisted on giving her a million. Don't you think that's strange?"

Ryan replied calmly, "Amelia's skills are worth that price."
