Chapter 81 Chapter 81: Epilogue
Chapter 81 Chapter 81: Epilogue
Mrs. Winchester sat beside Jason, comforting him, "Jason, be good and don’t cry. This weekend, I’ll take you on a trip, okay?"
Jason shook his head, still sobbing, "I miss Dad and Aunt Selena. Grandma, can you help me see them again?"
Mrs. Winchester felt a pang of sorrow. She, too, wanted to see them again, but perhaps… they were separated by life and death now.
"Mom, we’re home."
Mrs. Winchester looked up in surprise at the familiar voice—it was her son, Balthazar.
Before she could react, Jason had already run outside, shouting, "Dad’s back! Aunt Selena’s back too!"
Mrs. Winchester hurried after him, and as soon as she reached the gate, she saw Balthazar and Selena smiling in front of her. Selena’s belly was round and full, as though she was about to give birth.
Mrs. Winchester rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. Seeing this, both Balthazar and Selena laughed, and Selena approached, hugging her, saying:
"Mom, don’t rub your eyes too much, you might hurt them."
Feeling the warmth from Selena, Mrs. Winchester finally realized she wasn’t a ghost. She touched Selena’s swollen belly, and when the baby kicked lightly against her palm, she came back to her senses.
Selena’s smile grew wider as she said, "Baby, saying hello to Grandma."
"Oh my heavens."
Mrs. Winchester cried out, pulling both Selena and Balthazar into a tearful embrace. Jason also cried as he carefully touched Selena’s belly, hiccupping, "I want to say hello to my sibling too."
Selena stroked his head and softly said to the baby, "Be good and say hello to your brother."
Sure enough, her belly moved again, and Jason’s eyes widened in surprise, completely forgetting to cry.
The family hugged each other, crying for a while before finally going inside. Selena knew Balthazar had something to discuss with his mother, so she took Jason upstairs.
In the living room, only the two of them remained. Mrs. Winchester asked where he had been all this time, but after a moment of silence, he asked:
"Mom, am I not your biological son?"
Mrs. Winchester intended to deny it but, in the end, couldn’t. If he was asking, he must already know. So, she nodded honestly and said:
"I found you by the roadside when you were a baby. For years, I thought I could keep this secret forever."
Balthazar gently put his arm around her shoulder, feeling immensely grateful. After descending to the human world, he sealed his powers, adjusted his appearance timeline to twenty-eight years before Selena arrived in this place, and ultimately inhabited the body of an infant. Only by doing so could he fully "learn" the experiences and emotions of being human. Without Mrs. Winchester's care, he might never have been reunited with Selena.
Later, Mrs. Winchester asked, "How did you find out? Did your birth parents come looking for you?"
Now that he was an adult, he could make his own choices. She just wanted to know how he had learned the truth.
Looking at her, Balthazar smiled slightly, and a pair of wings sprouted from his back.
He didn’t want to shock her, so he suppressed his power to the level of a lower angel, but still, she was so stunned that her jaw dropped—and even locked in place.
…
Today, Balthazar took Selena to the premiere of a film funded by Kola Corporation. This was her first public appearance.
As soon as she appeared, the entire auditorium and the livestream exploded.
"Oh my gosh, an angel descended!"
Some people were so crazed they ran into the streets, screaming, and were arrested by the police.
Others were so overwhelmed by her beauty that they fainted on the spot.
Still, others even vowed never to marry because they couldn’t love anyone else as much as her.
In short, the internet crashed.
Kevin could only sigh helplessly. The press conference had gone off the rails, but the media impact was tremendous.
After just an hour of showtime, every IMAX theater and even smaller cinemas had sold out. It wasn’t because the movie was particularly good or the actors exceptionally talented, but because the singer of the theme song was so breathtaking.
People were willing to buy two or three tickets just to hear her voice in the film.
When they heard her voice, they would picture her face, and their hearts would feel utterly satisfied.
Kevin glanced at Selena’s swollen belly and sighed again. She teased him:
"With such a big success, what are you sighing about?"
Kevin shook his head and said, "You wouldn’t understand."
Now that she even had a child, he knew his chances were gone. His unrequited love ended in complete despair.
His assistant sighed too, thinking that her boss clearly didn’t notice Balthazar’s sharp, watchful eyes. If she didn’t drag him away soon, she’d probably end up picking up his remains.
Just then, a swarm of reporters rushed in, eager to take photos and interview Selena. She wasn’t stingy and had planned to answer their questions, but suddenly, a sharp pain gripped her belly.
Right in front of all the cameras, she grabbed Balthazar’s hair and screamed:
"I’m about to give birth!"
Balthazar quickly scooped her up, and Kevin immediately called for security to clear a path to the hospital.
Three hours later, after much anxiety and waiting, Selena finally gave birth to a baby girl… with six tiny wings, completely featherless, on her back.
The doctors and nurses were about to shout in alarm when Balthazar erased their memories with magic, then transformed the baby into a human form.
Still, he didn’t hide it from his family. When the baby was brought home, he revealed her true form, and Jason marveled nonstop.
"Dad, is my sister an angel?"
Balthazar patted his head and replied, "No, she’s just a bird."
Jason’s little face crumpled in confusion, and he tearfully asked, "Does that mean I have to catch bugs for her to eat?"
Bugs were scary! How could anyone eat them?
His innocent words made the adults burst into laughter, and Balthazar hugged Selena contentedly, breathing a sigh of relief.
The human world was indeed more interesting. He decided he would stay with Selena and have a few more children before returning to heaven.
The two princes: ...
