Chapter 173: Suddenly Appeared

Peter watched the bodyguards hesitate, then saw them chase after Kiley and Sophie. Furious, he pounded the ground with his fist.

Just then, a sleek black Alfa Romeo slowly pulled up and stopped right in front of Monica.

The windows were tinted, making it impossible to see who was inside.

Once the car was stationary, the door opened slowly. Monica stood there for a moment, hesitating.

But soon, she seemed to make up her mind and quickly climbed inside. The Alfa Romeo's engine roared to life, and the car sped away.

"Stop! Stop!"

Peter watched helplessly as Monica got into the Alfa Romeo, but his body was wracked with pain, leaving him powerless to stop her.

He hurriedly fumbled for his phone, his hands shaking from the pain.

"Your wife ran off."

Peter shouted into the phone, his voice trembling and punctuated by sharp intakes of breath.

"What? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on her?"

Brandon was sitting in his living room, frowning at the bowl of soup Seraphina had painstakingly made for him that morning.

Under Brian's watchful gaze, he took a sip. The soup tasted good, but his mind was elsewhere.

Hearing Peter's words, his expression darkened instantly.

"How was I supposed to know she had help? And she wasn't alone!"

Peter rubbed his injured side, trying to alleviate the pain. "And let me tell you, Mr. Robinson, I got hurt on the job. You better reimburse me!"

Originally, Brandon had called him to send someone to protect Monica. This kind of task usually wouldn't require Peter's personal involvement.

But he was bored today and decided to come to Maplewood City to join the fun and maybe persuade Monica. He hadn't expected to run into Kiley, that "wild girl."

He swore to himself that the next time he saw her, he would teach her a lesson and show her who's boss.

Peter clenched his phone tightly as he thought about it.

"Stop wasting time and find her for me."

Brandon put down the bowl, not even glancing at Seraphina, and hurried out of the living room.

He didn't see the hurt expression in Seraphina's eyes.

"Don't worry, Maplewood City isn't that big. With me here, even if she runs to the ends of the earth, I'll find her."

Peter gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and determination.

For years, he had thrived in Oceancrest City, never facing the kind of humiliation he experienced today.

Initially, he had treated this as a game, but now he decided to take it seriously.

He wanted to see just how far Monica could run.

"Then why are you still talking?"

Brandon got into his car, angrily slamming the seat.

Seeing this, Justin quickly pulled out his tablet, urgently summoning people to find out whose car Monica had gotten into.

He knew Brandon was on the verge of exploding, and finding Monica quickly was the only way to calm him down.

"I'm in pain! Can't I lie here for two minutes?"

Peter lay on the ground, surrounded by a circle of hotel staff who quickly formed a barrier to shield him from prying eyes.

He lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag, hoping the nicotine would ease his physical pain and inner rage.

"Alright, but are you sure the person who took her isn't some creep?"

Brandon grew increasingly agitated as Justin still hadn't located Monica. He couldn't help but ask.

His eyes were fixed ahead, as if he could see through everything and find Monica.

"Creep? I think those two women with your wife are the real troublemakers. They're practically bandits! I'm in so much pain."

Peter complained as he tried to find a more comfortable position on the ground.

"Let me tell you, Mr. Robinson, I want compensation for emotional distress. Otherwise, I won't help you with anything."

He felt deeply wronged, thinking he had suffered so much for Brandon's sake and deserved proper compensation.

"Two million dollars."

Brandon said curtly.

Right now, he only wanted to find Monica quickly. Money was just a number to him; he didn't care how much it cost as long as it solved the problem.

"Alright, that's comforting. Transfer it to my account. I've been eyeing a bottle of wine..."

Peter's eyes lit up at the mention of two million dollars, and his pain seemed to lessen.

Before he could finish, Brandon interrupted him.

"Tell me! Where did Monica go?"

Brandon's voice was cold. He had no patience for Peter's rambling.

"Relax, your wife got into a black Alfa Romeo. I happen to know the license plate, and so do you."

Peter teased, pausing deliberately to pique Brandon's curiosity.

Brandon felt a surge of unease, his heart racing, a sense of foreboding enveloping him.

"Ethan's car. Familiar, right? I heard he's your cousin's classmate. Could Brian have sent him to look after your wife?"

Peter asked, puzzled.

He sat up, a thoughtful expression on his face.

Peter vaguely knew Brian didn't like Monica. Why would he ask Ethan to pick her up?

"Find them immediately! I'll pay extra!"

Brandon's anger flared at the mention of Ethan's name, feeling a burning rage that threatened to explode.

He had always been suspicious of Ethan and Monica's relationship. Seeing Monica get into Ethan's car only confirmed his doubts.

He threw his phone furiously, watching it arc through the air and shatter under a passing car.

Justin silently pulled a new phone from his toolbox and began unwrapping it.

In Ethan's car.

"Mr. Kennedy, what are you doing here?"

Monica was stunned to see Ethan in Maplewood City at this time.

Last time, Ethan had rescued her from the Little Red House and said he was returning to Oceancrest City for business.

Her eyes were wide with surprise, looking at Ethan as if he were a miracle.

"You mentioned wanting to join my project. I thought it over and decided to give you some guidelines in advance, so you won't be lost when you get to the lab tomorrow."

Ethan's voice was warm and magnetic, like a gentle spring breeze, soothing Monica's heart.

He turned slightly, looking at Monica with concern and kindness in his eyes.
