Chapter 84: The war with Williams
The smile on Desmond’s face was warm enough to melt any lingering fear in Isabella’s heart.
For a brief moment, she forgot about Alpha Williams—the father of her unborn son, the man who had wounded her deeper than claws ever could.
But then her wolf stirred within her, speaking with that calm, piercing truth only a spirit-beast could possess.
“He is happy now… but he is watching you closely.”
Isabella blinked, the sudden shift in her body language catching Desmond’s attention.
“You suddenly froze,” Desmond said, leaning closer with a soft romantic tilt of his head. “Is anything the matter, my love? You have been favored by the goddess—that alone should make you smile.”
Isabella exhaled softly and turned to him with a gentle smile. She rubbed her palm over her stomach, the unborn life beneath her touch warming her heart.
“You came into my life and gave me peace,” she whispered.
“You are everything opposite of the alpha called Williams.”
She didn’t get to finish. Desmond reached out and placed his index finger on her lips.
“Say no more, my darling. That name should not be heard here—not even once.”
Isabella lowered her gaze. “But Desmond… you love me with all your heart. You’ve been here for me. You’ve done everything to make me smile.”
Desmond’s eyes softened even more, and he cupped her cheek. “That would sound sweet, but the truth is that you are all I have left, Isabella. I never thought I would love again. Pain took that part of me away… until you walked into my life.”
Isabella swallowed hard, emotion tightening her chest. His sincerity wasn’t a mask—she could feel it.
But then fear crept into her voice, replacing her melting softness.
“I fear,” she said.
Desmond stiffened. “Fear? Of what?”
“I am carrying the bloodline of two alphas,” she said with trembling honesty.
“Isn’t that enough to confuse even the goddess?”
Desmond breathed out slowly, almost like a man calming a beast inside him. “That makes you special, my darling.
If anyone should be hailed for greatness and power, it should be you. You possess not just the power of the bloodlines… but the strength to become the next strongest Luna. And whenever I smile at you, I see the power surrounding you.”
His words were beautiful—but her heart was not steady.
“I hate Alpha Williams,” she suddenly confessed. “I hate everything about him.”
She paused, fingers brushing her stomach again.
“That does not mean I should hate my son. He is innocent. The seed I got from him.”
Desmond inhaled sharply. He struggled to keep his expression soft, but the bitterness flickered beneath the surface. It wasn’t jealousy alone—it was fear. Dread.
The anxiety of a man who finally found love but felt it slipping through his fingers because the past was still tied to her.
“That won’t be a problem,” he muttered, though his smile was too controlled.
“You’ve been smiling all through,” Isabella said, trying to read him. “Won’t you speak honestly?”
“The goddess has a way to treat things, Luna,” he answered, forcing calmness. But inside, his emotions were roaring.
He is pretending, Isabella’s wolf whispered.
He is raging inside—but he doesn’t want you to see it.
Isabella felt her chest tighten. The truth her wolf sensed shook her deeply. She wasn’t trying to hurt him—she simply needed to speak her truth.
Desmond stood abruptly, trying to mask the crack in his spirit. “I’ll be in the alpha chamber,” he said and walked away with quiet steps, though his heart thudded loudly with chaos.
He entered the chamber and closed the door behind him. It was there he folded his hands behind his back, staring at the mural of his ancestors.
“Does this mean I’m going to lose her to Alpha Williams?” he murmured to himself.
No one answered. The room felt heavier.
“He treated her badly,” Desmond continued. “He made her look like trash.
And now that I’ve gotten her, now that everything is finally shining for me… she has my heir within her… yet she also belongs to him.”
His chest tightened. His fingers curled.
Unknown to him, Isabella stood at the balcony upstairs, watching him through the open wooden lattice. Her heart sank.
“He is so worried,” she whispered. She sat back on the bed painfully. “I thought he said it was nothing.
He smiled at every word I spoke—even with gratitude. Then why did he change so suddenly?”
She pressed her palms to her face. Confusion returned to her—thick and suffocating.
From her own chamber, Mrs. Evelyn observed everything. She was not just a house elder; she was a woman deeply sensitive to spiritual bonds.
To her, Desmond and Isabella’s connection was not ordinary. It was written in the threads of prophecy—a prophecy she had once hoped would never need fulfilling.
Within an hour, Mrs. Evelyn quietly entered Isabella’s room and closed the door gently.
“You almost scared me,” Isabella said, startled.
“That is because I did not want anyone to notice me coming here,” Mrs. Evelyn replied with calm authority. “I’ve seen the love between you and Desmond. It runs deeper than you think.
And I have come to tell you that you need to work even harder, child.”
“Work harder?” Isabella frowned. “At what?”
“At understanding your destiny,” Mrs. Evelyn answered. “At understanding the bloodline you carry. And at understanding the man who loves you.”
Isabella sat upright. “Mrs. Evelyn… I need to tell you something. Something I’ve told no one except my wolf.”
Mrs. Evelyn folded her arms and nodded. “Speak. I am here.”
Isabella inhaled shakily. “I carry two heirs, from two different alphas. One from Williams—my son. And now one from Desmond.”
Mrs. Evelyn did not flinch.
“Go on.”
“It terrifies me. The child from Williams carries raw power—dangerous power. And the child from Desmond… he carries light. Peace.
Warmth. I don’t know which child the goddess wants me to protect more. I don’t know if I am allowed to love both equally. And the worst part…” She swallowed.
“I hate Alpha Williams. I hate him with everything in me.”
“That is not new to me,” Mrs. Evelyn said gently. “I have watched the shadows between you two. But hatred has never changed destiny. And the goddess has still favored you.”
“Favored me?” Isabella whispered. “How?”
“With life,” Mrs. Evelyn answered. “With two heirs who will redefine the future of the packs. With a strength no Luna has possessed in centuries. Isabella, you are not cursed—you are chosen.”
Isabella’s lips parted, trembling. “Chosen… for what?”
Mrs. Evelyn stepped closer. “For balance.”
Isabella frowned deeply. “Balance of what?”
“A war that began long before you were born,” she whispered. “And that is now rising.”
The wind howled sharply through the northern woods, carrying the scent of blood and panic.
Edward, the beta, rushed through the pack grounds as warriors and omegas gathered in growing agitation.
Torches burned against the darkening sky. The pack was murmuring—angry, frightened, restless.
Edward felt his chest tighten.
“What is happening now…?” he muttered.
His worst fear was confirmed as the crowd split apart.
A patrol member limped in—bleeding, bruised, nearly unconscious.
“Rogues!” someone shouted. “They ambushed the northern gate!”
Edward’s heart pounded. He moved forward, grabbing the injured patrol member.
“What happened?”
“They… they came in groups… not like ordinary rogues,” the man gasped.
“They moved with structure… as if commanded. They attacked our hunters and threatened the borders.
They said… they said this pack will fall before the next moon.”
“How many?” Edward demanded.
“Too many,” the warrior whispered. “Far too many for a random attack.”
Edward clenched his jaw. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
The pack began shouting:
“Where is Alpha Williams?”
“We need our Alpha!”
“We’re dying out here!”
Edward hissed under his breath. Williams could not appear—not now—not in the state he had been for the past weeks. Depression had consumed him since he lost Isabella. She had not only left—she had taken his soul with her
.
Another warrior staggered in with news.
“Beta Edward! They’ve breached the east training grounds!”
“What?” Edward roared.
A child began crying. Mothers clutched their young ones. Warriors trembled with rage and fear.
Edward felt the ground shift beneath him—emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
“This pack is falling apart,” he whispered, his voice heavy with dread.
He turned toward the Alpha’s chamber.
“Williams… you must wake up. We cannot survive this without you.”
He stormed toward the Alpha’s quarters—unaware that something darker than rogues lurked at the borders. Something watching. Something waiting.
Isabella sat quietly on the bed as Mrs. Evelyn spoke with a tone that carried both prophecy and warning.
“You think your struggle is about two men,” the older woman said. “But it is about two destinies. The child from Williams carries the wild fire of ancient alphas.
The child from Desmond carries the calm waters of the sacred line.”
“And what does that make me?” Isabella whispered.
Mrs. Evelyn’s eyes softened.
“It makes you the bridge.”
Isabella shook her head. “I didn’t ask for this.”
“Chosen ones never do,” Mrs. Evelyn replied softly.
Silence hung in the air—thick but sacred.
Then Isabella finally confessed, voice cracking:
“I don’t know if I can face Alpha Williams again. I don’t want him close to me. I don’t want him to touch anything that belongs to me.”
Mrs. Evelyn sat beside her and took her hand.
“Hatred is a powerful thing, Isabella. It can blind. It can destroy. And it can mislead. But it cannot erase what is already written.”
Isabella’s eyes welled with tears.
“What is written… cannot be changed?”
“No,” Mrs. Evelyn whispered, “but how you walk through it can. And you will not walk alone.”
Unbeknownst to both women, Desmond stood outside the door—listening. The words he overheard felt like a blade in his chest.
He heard:
“Two alphas…”
“Two heirs…”
“She cannot face Williams…”
“She hates him…”
Desmond closed his eyes, pain crushing him slowly.
He thought he was enough for her.
He thought love could heal everything.
But destiny was laughing at him.
Inside her room, Isabella felt suddenly cold—her wolf whispering again:
“Desmond is hurting. He listens.”
And when she looked toward the door… it was already too late.
Desmond had walked away with silent footsteps—heading toward his room toward the cold winds, toward the place he often went to wrestle with his demons.
Isabella walked more closer to him and said.
" You seems to be worried. " She spoke.
" I know you don't love him, I know that you are doing this to protect our interest."
" Desmond you have always be worried over this for long. How long will i tell you that I won't leave you for any.?" She asked him coldly and kind.
" What else do you want me to do as a prove for my love toward you Desmond. I have loved you with all my heart, with everything in me. Nothing less but more to say." She said.
" If you love me as you claimed, then take off your mind from Williams. I don't think he will make you a good alpha."
Isabella shocked her head.
" You speaks jealously. Yet you told me that you never for once reacted like this."
" I might be jealous, Isabella." She paused. " All this are for you. I never for a day reacted as weak as this."
Isabella romantic drew her mouth closer to him.
" I love you Desmond, and am willingly to do to do my best for you." She kissed him, and placed her hands on his chest. " You such a lovely man. Full of kindness and commitment. I love you." Isabella told Desmond.
Just as Desmond thought she was through with the kiss. Isabella romantic hands led them to sex.
" I need you tonight. Just make love to me."
Desmond romantically placed his hands on her breath that trigger Isabella sexual desire. Despite that, she remains so deep confused.
