Chapter 26: The Man In Her Dream

Selena's POV

I went to the library after fixing myself and all of the servants were asleep. It's already midnight, and I think Kael is already asleep since I haven't seen him. However, I felt so sad for how I treated him this morning. He's definitely sad or maybe didn't expect me to act like that, but I just got scared.

As soon as I got inside the library, the smell of old books immediately lingered in my nose. I looked around and I was amazed how these books are compiled neatly, especially since they were put on the shelves by genre. I know there will be a book here about vampires even though I haven't seen this place before.

I started wandering around and searching for the specific book when suddenly I spotted it at the end of the room. There was a shelf about vampires, it was full of history about vampires—our enemies. I grab one book with a violent cover and a simple title. I opened it, but I didn't see anything about the man in my dream.

So I grabbed another one and this time it has a red cover with the title 'Vlad’. Out of curiosity, I opened the book and flipped every page until I stopped on a page where there's a picture of a man. I looked closely and was stunned to see him, especially since he looked exactly the same as the man in my dream.

I looked underneath the picture and read it. “Vladimir Valsky.”

“He's the founder and Lord of the vampire race,” Kael suddenly said.

“Damnit!” I almost dropped the book because he startled me. I rolled my eyes and sighed, “Kael!”

He chuckled softly, “My apologies, my lady.”

“Why are you here? And why are you so grumpy? Is it time of the month?” He joked.

“Nothing. Just reading,” I replied.

He looked at the cover and said, “That book? When did you become interested in the life of that man? He's not worth reading though.”

I closed the book and stated, “I don't know. I just suddenly found myself interested in knowing our enemy.”

“You should be because as a Luna, you have to know who is our enemy.”

“Kael,” I murmured. I sighed and added, “Why did you enthron me as your Luna? I'm not fit to be your Luna and Jessica was meant for it, but you put her aside—” he stops me.

“Jessica has been with me for years. She became a great leader by my side, helping me solve every problem the pack faced. I must say you're right about her being worthy as my Luna.”

“Oh…” I suddenly felt a small pain in my chest like I'm expecting him to disagree with what I said. I focus my eyes on the book when he suddenly takes my hand, and then places it on his chest.

“But for me you're the worthy Luna, Selena.”

My heart skipped and I blushed, making me look away. “Kael, you're making me blush!”

“You're my Luna, my girl, and my mate.” He snatched the book from my hand and said, “You shouldn't have read this. This man is disgusting.”

“Hmm, you seemed to know him well. Have you met him already?” I asked.

“I have once.”

“That's why you're keeping a book about him in this library?” I questioned.

“Nope. Jessica's father owns this library because he's a book addict, but I must say this room is filled with important things such as histories of each race and books from known authors from different eras like that.”

“Who is he exactly?” I inquired, pretending to be curious in a safe way.

“I have met him once when I was a child. He's immortal not like us, especially since he obtained that ability. He turned chosen people into vampires to be his slaves, but most of it is his food. He can slaughter an entire village with his minions,” he explained.

“Can you tell me about him? Does he have a family? Perhaps a daughter?”

He crossed his arms before tilting his head, “Why did you suddenly become curious about him? Is there something wrong?”

I shook my head quickly and reasoned, "I never heard of him before because I was locked up in my father's basement for 17 years and haven't seen the light ever since. He never mentioned our enemies because he will definitely leave me behind.”

“Vlad has no family. He doesn't have a daughter either,” he answered.

I furrowed, “Why not?”

I laughed softly, “Why would a cold blood-sucking monster like him want a family? He is cold, craving for power and arrogant. Everyone feared him but I will not let anyone hurt my pack, including you.”

If he doesn't have a daughter. Why is he calling me his daughter? He seemed thrilled to meet me, especially since I can see and feel it.

“If he doesn't have a daughter. Why would he call me his daughter?” I whispered.

“What?” Kael mumbled.

Damn! I say it out loud! “Oh, nothing! I didn't say anything.”

“I want to apologize for—” I cut him out.

“Don't apologize because you didn't do anything wrong. I should be the one apologizing because I treated you badly earlier, and I should think about your feelings before acting weirdly…”

He stroked my cheek and smiled, “Don't worry, Selena. My love for you is not fragile.” Kael kissed me on the forehead, causing me to smell his blood.

My eyes glow as I smell it, seeing his delicious neck close to me. My fangs came out as I opened my mouth and was about to bite him when he parted, causing me to snap my head.

“Do I smell too bad?” He sniffed himself.

I touched my teeth and sighed before facing him, “No, you smell good.”

“Anyway, I want you to go to the balcony because I have prepared something for you.”

I frowned, “What is it?”

“It won't be called a surprise if I tell you, so be there.” He kissed my hand before turning around to leave.

My heart raced and felt my cheeks turning red, but my thoughts about the man in my dream sink in again.

“I will find you, whoever you are.”
