Chapter 23: The Dream

Selena's POV

I gasped and opened my eyes at the same time. I woke up and touched my chest as I felt something weird within me. My head was spiraling, causing me to grab the glass of water on my bedside table but it wasn't there. I got confused but what's more confusing is the dark surroundings.

I don't remember turning the lampshade off before I went to sleep. But that's not all because the surroundings were quiet like I'm the only one here, so I got up and approached the switch to open the light but it's not turning on. I tried to switch it again but nothing was happening, so I went to my bedside table where a candle was.

I lit it up with a matchstick before grabbing my robe because it's getting chilly in my bedroom. I went out and darkness greeted me, which became more intriguing. I don't know where the people went and the surroundings feel so off. It makes me feel like I'm in another dimension, or it was just my dream but everything feels real.

I used to candle to see my path, but the corridors had no ending. I can't see the end of it and I don't know what is happening.

“Kael? Is anybody home?” I shouted.

No one answered.

I keep walking and walking but the corrode has no ending.

“Kael? Where are you?” I called his name.

But still no one answered.

Until someone called my name.

Selena…

It was a whisper. But it was like around me, his voice echoed through the corridors and made me interested.

Selena… my daughter…

“Daughter? Who are you? Show yourself!” I yelled.

“I have been waiting for you, Selena…”

“What? Who are you? I don't know who you are—ahhhhhhh!” I covered my ears when a thin scream filled the room, it was like breaking my eardrums and hard to endure.

“Ahhh! Stop it!” I begged.

Until it stops.

I stood up and suddenly the surroundings changed into a place I had never been there before. It was a mansion—a palace-like and has so many windows and a massive gate. The place was covered with darkness and the moon was high above.

The gate opened itself. It was like inviting me to get inside, and my feet were walking on their own. I head inside and my eyes are wandering as I'm trying to ask myself what am I even doing here. I have never been here, and the place is like carrying something.

“Where am I?” I questioned. “What is this place?”

“This is where you belong, Selena.”

I turned around after hearing a man's voice behind me. He was wearing a black suit and shoes, with a brooch. He also has a cape—a blood red cape. His skin is pale and his fangs were revealed when he smiled, but what's more disturbing is his eyes.

They were red.

“You have werewolf blood… I can smell it from here. But soon, you will unleash your vampire blood…” he murmured.

I furrowed, “What are you talking about? I don't know who you are and what you need from me. What am I even doing here? Where am I?”

“I'm in your dream, Selena. I've been trying to visit you in your dream ever since, but something was blocking me. However, after you get out of that place. I felt you.”

“Who are you?” I inquired again.

He walked towards me but I exposed my claws to prepare. “Don't come near me!”

“So you have found your wolf,” he murmured.

“Yes. What do you care?! Who are you? You're not answering my question!”

“I am someone important to you… someone that will help you unleash what's within you.”

I looked at him from head to toe and realized who he was. “You're a vampire…”

He smiled, “I am.”

“You are the greatest nemesis of our race! Why did you enter my dream, huh?!” I yelled.

He smirked, “Your race? You're not only a werewolf, Selena. You have mixed blood. You're part of a vampire—my race, too.”

“What?” I scoffed, “I'm not a vampire. I'm a werewolf!”

“That's what you know because your ability just shows slowly, but once you fully consume the rest of your ability. You will know what I'm saying is real,” he answered.

What is this man talking about?

Why is he telling me I'm a vampire?

Ever since I came out of the prison I've been locked up, my wolf stirred. My wolf was howling in excitement, especially since she's been missing for years and now we finally reunited. However, this man came to my dream unexpectedly and claimed that I'm his daughter.

“I can't be your daughter. My father and mother are werewolves. I am a werewolf,” I responded.

“Would you like to come in?” He invited me.

I shook my head, “No. I would rather not get into your house because there might be a trap inside. You're a vampire! My enemy!”

He sighed in disbelief, “How many times should I tell you that I'm not your enemy? I am your father—” he exhaled deeply and added, “You will understand everything once you start having vampire abilities. Your head will be filled with questions, wanting to answer them.”

I chuckled sarcastically, “Do you think I will believe you? You are just messing with me! You wanted to lure me in and kill me! I will not let you!”

I started attacking him but he was dodging it faster. He was moving so fast that I couldn't keep up, but I kept trying to slash him until he cornered my hands and bent it behind me.

He gripped my throat and whispered into my ears, “You remind me your mother, Selena. She's this feisty when I met her. She's brave, beautiful and…” he sniffed me and added, “And had the same smell as yours. Your werewolf blood is rising, but soon your vampire blood will be dominant.”

I stepped on his foot before trying to attack him but he disappeared like a bubble.

“Face me! You coward!” I growled.

“When the time has come, you will look for me. Those answers you will need will bother you, Selena. But for now, you have to go back…”

“Coward!”

“Until we meet again, Selena.”

In a flash I wake up with heavy breathing and sweat covering my face. That dream looks so real, and I'm so confused. That man called me his daughter and he seemed to know me very well like he was looking for me since then.

“Who are you? Why do you seemed telling me the truth?” I mumbled.
