Chapter 17: Beg For Freedom

Selena's POV

I woke up when the rusty metal door creaked open. William entered, holding a lamp in his right hand and a tray of food in his left hand. He approached the wooden chair and sat down, after that he put the tray on the cold floor followed by the lamp. He examines me, and I'm just staring at him blankly.

“You look pitiful,” he commented.

I spit on his face and replied, “So are you.”

He wiped that away and slapped me hard, making me taste the blood on my lips. He gripped my jaw and forced me to face him, “You ungrateful, btch!”

“You're a monster!” I shouted.

William let me go violently and ordered, “Eat.”

I chuckled, “Seriously? How could I eat in this state, huh? Stupid!”

He sighed in disbelief before taking the spoon and scooping rice with fish. He moves the spoon into my mouth, but I refuse it. “Eat, Selena.”

I snapped my head, causing the spoon to fall on the floor. The food scattered. “Look what you've done, Selena.”

“I'd rather starve than eat your food! Who knows what kind of poison you put on that food to make me obey!”

He threw the tray away and screamed, "I'm trying to be kind to you yet you're testing me!”

“I don't need your kindness! I want to get out of here!” I pulled the chains, trying to get him but he moved away from me. “How long do you want to be my father's dog, William? We both know that Walter is the man he will choose to replace him someday yet you are so blind and stupid for thinking he will choose you instead of your twin brother!”

“Enough! You don't know anything about me, Selena! Like when I confessed my love for you and you rejected me!” he answered.

I was backfired because I almost forgot that. William confesses his love for me despite my state on my father's pack. He was willing to accept me and risk everything for me but I rejected him. He doesn't deserve me and he will never deserve me. I will never love someone who doesn't have a heart and love for his people.

He can sacrifice anyone for his own good, and I already see it from him.

“I have my reasons, William. How could someone like you with the prestigious position in the pack love someone like me? Do you have any idea what kind of shame you're going to face if I accept your love? Are you willing to sacrifice your position for me?”

William didn't answer. I know he would never sacrifice anything for someone like me, so when he confessed. I know that was nothing but bullshit.

I snickered, "I knew it…”

“I am willing to risk everything for you. But instead of supporting me, you rejected me.”

“You know the answer to that! You want to use me to get my father's pack, and gladly I'm not that stupid to agree with your stupid plan!”

He growled and gripped my jaw again, but this time it was tight and painful. “That is the only way to set you free, Selena. All I ever wanted is to set you free but you doubted me!”

“Because you're a coward…” I pulled my jaw away from him despite the pain. “You want his power and you want to use me. However, you chose the wrong tool to use against my father because even though you killed me in front of him. He will never give you the position as an alpha.”

William clench his fist, gritted his teeth, and held his anger. Meanwhile, our attention diverted at the door when we heard familiar footsteps. He stepped aside as soon as the door opened, revealing my father. He got in and his daunting aura immediately wrapped the room. My father's eyes landed on the food scattered on the floor before turning his gaze to William.

“What the hell happened here?” He asked.

“She wasted the food, Alpha. She rejected it and wanted to starve,” William stated.

My father kneels at my level and murmurs, “You have to eat. Unless you want to die faster?”

“Let me go, father. What do you want from me? Why are you doing this to me? Why did you never treat me as your daughter?” I questioned.

“Things are meant to be hidden, Selena. Knowing my reasons is not necessary, so you're going to stay here. But I need you to help me get what I want from your beloved Alpha,” he said.

I widened, “Kael… not Kael! Please, father!”

“He's coming to take you and I'm not letting him step into my territory without bloodshed, Selena. I don't know what he sees in you for risking his life, but I know for sure he has the same purpose as mine…”

I frowned in confusion and inquired, “What do you mean, father?”

He rose and ignored my question, “Take her.”

“What? No! Don't touch me!” I yelled.

They removed the shackles in my wrists and ankles, after that they dragged me out of that room. I tried to escape, but my body was still recovering from the cruel torture they put me into.

“Where are you taking me, father? I'm begging you, please! Let me go! Let me be happy!” I cried.

He stopped and we did the same. He turned to face me and said, “Let you become happy?” He laughed like a madman, “Did you let me become happy, Selena? Ever since you were born, fate has stopped favoring me! She killed my son, and let my daughter marry a scumbag! Now you're wishing me to let you become happy? Pathetic.”

“Please, father…”

“Don't call me. You disgust me, Selena!”

I swallowed, escaped from his warrior's hands and crawled to his feet. I begged, “Please…”

He grabbed my hair and yanked it, “I told your mother to get rid of you when you're still in her belly, but she was too kind to kill an innocent child. She gave birth to you, and now she's dead.”

“At least my mother has a heart! Unlike you!”

“Yeah, she did. But where that kindness brought her, Selena, huh? In the deepest part on earth. Six feet on the ground. Because no matter how kind she is, you can't remove the fact she died because of you,” he mumbled.

“Alpha Jeremy, he's here.”

My father let me go and I almost kissed the floor. His warriors take me again, not wanting me to escape.

“Tie her in front of the packhouse. I want Kael to see who he is trying to provoke. I want to show him this woman is a waste of risk,” my father stated.
