Chapter 94 - Rejecting My Contracted Luna
Emma's POV
Ethan and I stare at one another, both in confusion and amazement.
"Why didn't our wolves recognize each other as mates the first time we marked one another?" I ask the question that I know we are both thinking.
"I wonder if it is because you weren't old enough to recognize me as your mate," Ethan says absentmindedly.
"That can be the only explanation," I mumble to myself. My mind is racing with questions that I don't have the answers for. The only person that can answer some of these questions for me is Duncan and he is presumably still at the Crescent Pack making sure things run smoothly.
Raising my hand to my neck, Ethan gently traces the edges of the mark that is forming on my neck. His touch breaks me from my thoughts and a burst of erotic tingles spread throughout my body and a moan leaves my mouth.
"I am going to need you to stop touching me there." I try to keep myself under control, but I can feel the familiar wetness forming between my legs. As much as I would love a round three with Ethan I don't think that I have the strength in me to do it again.
Ethan laughs at me as he disappears into the bathroom. I hear the water running in the bathtub. Ethan reappears in only his boxers and offers me his hand. "You definitely need a bath now," he tells me as he helps me from the bed.
My legs are weak underneath me as I try to stand up and I feel dizzy. I sway a little on my feet and Ethan catches me before I hit the ground.
"I told you that you were supposed to be resting," Ethan says with a smug look on his face.
Leaning into his body for support, I grin up at him. "I didn't hear you complaining about it an hour ago," I say jokingly.
"Well..." Ethan mumbles. "I am complaining now."
"That is unfair," I laugh as Ethan carefully helps me into the bathtub. "You started it."
"I most certainly did not," Ethan scoffs. "You were the temptress that seduced me in the shower."
"I guess we will just have to agree to disagree." I stick out my tongue at Ethan as he sets me on the edge of the bathtub.
Gingerly, I lower myself into the water and let the warmth soothe my aching muscles. Lathering up my loofa, Ethan begins to gently clean my overly sore body.
Splashing him with water playfully, he scowls at me. "Are you sure that you don't want to join me?" I raise my eyebrows and wiggle them at him a little bit.
"I don't think you can handle another round, Little Mate," Ethan laughs. "I will keep my distance until you are feeling better."
"You better not." I wrap my hands around his neck and pull him in for a kiss. Ethan doesn't resist but he doesn't try to deepen the kiss either.
"I can feel how tired you are through the bond," Ethan reminds me.
I push out my bottom lip in a pout but deep down I know that he is right. A loud yawn betrays me as Ethan rinses the soap from my body.
"See," Ethan points out how tired I am as he helps me from the tub.
Carefully he sets me down on the toilet while he dries me gently with a towel. Wrapping the towel around my body Ethan scoops me into his arms and carries me back into the bedroom. While I wait on the side of the bed Ethan searches my closet for clothes for me to wear. He returns with a pair of boy short panties and a tank top.
"I need to be more covered than that," I fuss at Ethan as he helps me to get dressed.
"You aren't leaving this bed until I say so," Ethan grumbles. "No one will see you."
"Ezra will," I say in protest.
"Ezra won't care," Ethan says as he tucks me into the bed . "Now what do you want from the kitchen?"
"I am not hungry," I mutter as I snuggle into the pillow that is covered in Ethan's husky scent.
"You are going to eat something before you fall asleep," Ethan's bossy tone is getting on my nerves.
"I told you that I am not hungry," I snap back at him.
Ethan and I glare at one another. Neither one of us is willing to back down. Finally Ethan diverts his eyes and lets out a little sigh. "Then you are eating as soon as you wake up." Ethan fusses at me before he retrieves the rest of his clothes from the bathroom.
I watch sleepily as he gets dressed and sits down on the couches on the other side of my room. "Why are you all the way over there?" I pout.
"I just need to make some phone calls and I don't want to disturb you," Ethan says sweetly.
"I won't mind," I yawn and I tap the bed beside me. "Please don't leave me alone."
Ethan rolls his eyes at me before coming across the room and sitting on the bed next to me. I snuggle into his side as he scrolls through his phone looking for the appropriate phone numbers.
"I have a question before you fall asleep," Ethan says as he brushes the hair out of my face.
"What's that?" I reply.
"Do you think Daniel would come back to Crescent with us? I need a new Beta." Ethan has a concerned look on his face.
"Maybe if you offer him an apology," I say jokingly.
"I know that you are joking," Ethan laughs at me. "But I can't help but think that you are right. I probably owe him an apology."
"What about me?" I yawn. "Where is my apology?"
"Hey, hey, hey," Ethan groans. "Where is my apology?"
"I guess we can be even," I grumble.
Leaning over, Ethan kisses me on the forehead and I drift off to sleep.
