Chapter 29
Reena (Clarissa's) POV:
I woke up before dawn, my mind racing with the daunting task Silverton had assigned me. The gala party was just three days away, and I had to convince the feral Alpha to attend. Easy said than done.
I tossed and turned the whole night, thinking of various scenarios to persuade the Alpha. But every time I thought I had a plan, I remembered how he had kissed me, and how I had slapped him in return. I doubted he'd even want to see my face again.
A sneer left my lips as I thought about the Alpha's audacity. How dare he touch me when I'm not one of his sluts? I sat up, my heart still simmering with anger.
I picked up my phone and checked the time. 4:30 am. The Alpha was probably awake by now. As his personal maid, I had to continue my duties, no matter how much I despised him.
I got out of bed and began my morning routine. I brushed my hair and tied it into a ponytail, then put on the newly delivered uniform - a white shirt and a red straight skirt with a red beret. The uniform was weird, but I didn't have a choice.
I left my room and dashed towards the kitchen to brew the Alpha's favorite black coffee. I already knew his likes and dislikes, and I wasn't going to let anyone humiliate me again.
When I arrived at the kitchen, I was met with new faces. The maids were different from the ones before. I shrugged, thinking it was none of my business. The Feral Alpha was rich, and he could do whatever he pleased.
I approached a middle-aged woman washing dishes in the kitchen and asked politely, with a fake smile plastered on my face. "Hi madam, can I get the Alpha's favorite coffee brewed?"
The woman smiled at me surprisingly and replied, "Of course, dear, go ahead." It seemed this woman and I would get along pretty well.
I gently brewed the black coffee while the woman helped me. "Thank you," I smiled at her and left the kitchen with the coffee in my hand.
I fixed my beret and took a deep breath before climbing into the elevator mainly used by the servants. I wouldn't want a repeat of the previous incident.
As the elevator doors closed, I felt a surge of nervousness. What would the Alpha be like today? Would he even want to see me? I took another deep breath and steeled myself for the encounter. Bring it on, Alpha.
As I entered the Alpha's study, I couldn't help but notice the way he looked - handsome and powerful, with his sleeves rolled up, revealing his bulging muscles. But I quickly pushed the thought aside, remembering my goal.
I approached his desk and placed the mug of coffee in front of him. "Good morning, Alpha. This is your favorite black coffee," I said, forcing a smile onto my face.
The Alpha's gaze shifted to me, and I noticed a strange look in his eyes. Of course, anyone with a right mind would know instantly that I was just trying to butter up the Feral Alpha.
He signaled to me with his eyes, and I quickly dropped the mug on his desk. "I hope you didn't put garlic or whatever in this again?" he asked, his voice laced with sarcasm.
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I remembered the previous incident. "Of course not, this is really your preference," I replied, trying to sound convincing.
The Alpha took a sip of the coffee and focused back on his work, leaving me standing there in awkward silence. It had been more than thirty minutes, and the silence was deafening.
I looked around the room, trying to find something to do. My eyes landed on the messy bookshelf, and I felt a pang of nostalgia. My father's library used to be like this, and I would often help him arrange the books.
Without thinking, I started arranging the books on the shelf, trying to make sense of the mess. I could sense the Alpha's gaze on me, but I didn't dare look up.
As I worked, a book fell off the shelf, and I stiffened, hoping the Alpha hadn't noticed. But when I looked up, I saw that he was still focused on his work.
I quickly bent down to pick up the book and noticed a scrunched-up paper on the side. My curiosity got the better of me, and I picked up the paper, unfolding it to read the contents.
My eyes widened as I saw the heading of the letter - an invitation to the yearly gala. And it was the Alpha's invitation letter, clearly thrown away. What did I do to convince him when he seemed to have made up his mind?
I quickly put the paper back and started murmuring loudly enough for the Alpha to hear. "I can't believe it will soon be the yearly gala, I often attended with my dad. But now it's become a myth. I can't ever attend the ball."
I whispered loudly, with a loud sigh, and I could sense the Alpha's gaze on me. "Of course, going to the gala party now will forever be your dream, you are no more your father's daughter, you are now my slave, got it?" the Alpha said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
I felt a sting from his words, but I didn't dare look up. Instead, I continued to arrange the books, trying to keep my cool.
